CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 61: Chapter 69: The Reason

Compared to the note with his name, James Black suddenly felt that the note as ”husband” might be more fitting, considering how unexpectedly nice her voice sounded when she called him that.

The car had already started and driven off, Jane Sampson covered her face for a while before she stealthily peeked at James to see if he was angry. Only when she saw no sign of anger, did she quietly ask, ”How did you know?”

She had changed the contact name on her mobile phone after she got it back, while she was particularly angry, but couldn’t find any other way to vent her frustration, so she did something that now seemed quite childish.

But how had James discovered it?

”The cashier was talking when you hastily interrupted her with a panicked look, as if you were terrified she would speak the full sentence,” James had started to suspect there was something wrong with the contact name in Jane’s phone’s contact list after she abruptly interrupted the cashier when she started to say about ’King Black.’

After getting into the car and taking a look, haha, sure enough, there was an issue.

”Who told you to hide my mobile phone,” pouted Jane Sampson. If this had been before she discovered he had deliberately frozen and locked her payment apps, she would have likely erased the ’Gu’ from his name altogether and just labeled him as ’turtle egg’ or ’bastard.’

Seeing that James was not angry, Jane plucked up the courage to start complaining, ”Do you have any idea how embarrassed I was in the storefront just now? Great General and I each took a bite of the ice cream, we couldn’t return it, and when I tried to use WhatsAPP Pay, I had entered the wrong password too many times and it got locked. Then I tried Paypal, and that got locked too. The shop assistants outright asked me if the phone was one I found!”

Jane Sampson, thinking back to that moment of speechlessness, felt the urge to strangle James.

”I was very anxious and tried to explain to them, but they didn’t quite believe me. Some even talked about calling the police, saying that not only had I found someone else’s phone and failed to return it, but I was also trying to spend the money on it.”

Jane Sampson glanced at James with a look of woe, ”When I saw they didn’t believe me, I said I would find someone from the phone to come over, and then I dragged you out of the blacklist in front of them and made the call.”

It was precisely because Jane had removed James from the blacklist in front of everyone, and because she had said that he was her husband, that none of the shop assistants believed her.

That was why Jane had called James ’husband’ when she got through to his phone, it was for the ears of those listening on speakerphone.

Jane Sampson’s social circle was exceptionally small; Peter Gingery was with the Solar Planet Guardian Team and couldn’t come in a short period of time, Nina Rice had been on a business trip with her mother in Capital Province a few days ago, and besides finding James, Jane had no one else to turn to.

Moreover, James was the closest to the shopping mall, just ten plus minutes away would be enough time for him to arrive.

”I’m never going to that store again in my life!” Jane took a deep sigh, ”I’ve lost all my face at that storefront.”

Jane’s face became as twisted as a bitter melon, and she continued to look distressed all the way back home.

As soon as she entered the house, the handsome little boy ran over to Jane thumpingly, hugged her thigh, and asked in a milky voice, ”Aunt Jane, did you and the Great General get lost just now? Grandpa said Aunt Jane was led astray by Uncle?”

”Even if I was led astray, he managed to lead me back, he’s got an invisible rope looped around my neck!” Jane’s mouth twitched almost imperceptibly in response to the little boy before she looked over at Old Master Black.
