CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 52: Chapter 60: Taking the Dog for a Walk

It’s not hard to guess that Old Sir first called Jane Sampson upstairs, just after she had come downstairs, he called him up again, saying he wanted to play two rounds of chess with him, but it wasn’t two minutes before Old Sir terminated the chess game with a smile on his face, all on his own.

Then Jane Sampson’s mobile phone was returned to her.

In the house, probably only Old Sir could guess where he would hide Jane Sampson’s mobile phone, as he was raised by Old Sir himself, who truly understood his way of doing things.

Seeing Jane slowly nod her head in acknowledgment, James Black did not make any further comments.

”From now on, I’ll try to come home every weekend to be with you, and if you’re too lazy to cook during the week, just hire a nanny to take care of yourself.” James Black thought for a moment, then changed his approach, ”If your workplace is not far from the guard team, you can stay with the team and live with me.”

Jane Sampson was dumbfounded, her lollipop almost falling out of her mouth.

”No, no, no!” Jane Sampson was most afraid of James Black bringing up this topic, ”Please don’t, just keep things as they were before, don’t abandon your dear teammates and the guard teams for me, it’s not right, it’s unprofessional!”

Jane Sampson raised her hand, ”Just don’t come back on weekends, I swear, I won’t hide snacks anymore, absolutely no sneaking ice cream, and I will definitely eat fewer lollipops!”

Her expression was one of utmost sincerity, she nearly wished she could write him a guarantee letter and put her handprint on it.

Last time she had said something like this to James Black, he hadn’t reacted this way.

This time, hearing her say these words again, James Black felt an inexplicable tightness in his heart, a sudden surge of irritability, and an unrest that had nowhere to vent.

His expression darkened, his gaze firmly fixed on Jane Sampson, his voice cold as he asked, ”You don’t like me coming home?”

Jane Sampson’s gaze wandered all over the room, but she did not meet James Black’s eyes.

This question was awkward, how was she supposed to answer?

With his face already so sour, if she honestly said she didn’t like it, would he become angry and insist she stay with the team?

Honest words are often disagreeable, and if she lied, what if he promised to come back every weekend from then on? Wouldn’t that be deadly? The topic fizzled out just like last time, James Black realized that Jane Sampson wouldn’t answer him, he also knew what her answer would be, and with a cold face he picked up a book to read, no longer paying attention to Jane Sampson by his side.

But for some reason, he held the book without taking in a single word, all his attention was on Jane Sampson. Listening to the rustling sounds from behind, he guessed she had moved back to the bed to play with her mobile phone.

Hearing her suddenly laughing quietly to herself, James Black was curious whether she found some amusing news or if she was chatting with someone so joyfully?

With Peter Gingery?

Once he returned next time, he would definitely have to strictly discipline the team.

James Black even had the urge to hide her mobile phone again, as a young person, one shouldn’t be so immersed in phones to lose ambition. Mobile phones had caused most people to lose the ability to interact face-to-face, and while he, a real person, was sitting right by her side, she’d rather entertain herself with her phone than have a conversation with him.

James Black, frustrated, stood up from the desk and without another word, pulled Jane Sampson, who was lying on the bed, up, ”Get up, we’re going out to walk the dog.”

”What did you say?” Jane Sampson was baffled by the sentence James Black suddenly threw at her. She pointed to the blistering big sun outside the window, and asked with some disbelief, ”In the Capital Province’s midsummer afternoon, you want to go out and walk the dog? Are you planning to risk our lives to walk the dog?”
