I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 840: Chapter 839: Human Nature

”Don’t let those bugs crawl into your ears!” Chu Zhicheng shouted loudly.

At the same time, he glanced at the worms inside the big fish’s belly, clearly wriggling much faster.

”It’s them inviting!” Beisitian said with her beautiful eyes slightly open, her voice solemn.

How these bugs are able to summon others is unknown, but there’s a faint fishy smell lingering around them, surely secreted to attract these flying insects.

Soon, everyone could see these flying bugs clearly. Each one was about the size of a grain of rice, their black and red bodies looking particularly horrifying, an overwhelming swarm!

For someone like Zou Yulu, who is deeply afraid of bugs like centipedes, this task was simply a nightmare!

”What should we do now!” Zou Yulu yelled in panic.

Even Mystic Doctor wouldn’t have a solution facing these things. Thinking about it now, those people from the orphanage might have been wiped out by these bugs, like locusts sweeping through, who can resist?!

Luo Xudong’s expression was somewhat solemn as well. However, having carried out many special missions, even though it was his first time handling such a task, he wouldn’t lose his composure.

”Prepare the flamethrowers.” Luo Xudong said.

Though they were unaware of the depth of the situation before coming, they had thoroughly analyzed the deceased, and coupled with Beisitian’s cause of death analysis, they made extensive preparations for the mission. Otherwise, how could they talk about saving people?

The flamethrowers were imported from abroad, as currently there’s no such equipment domestically. This time, anticipating many Poisonous Insects, they applied for two flamethrowers. The spray diameter is roughly one and a half meters, each spray lasts three seconds, capable of supporting ten to fifteen sprays.

This might be sufficient for usual situations, but against such a vast swarm of flying bugs, especially when the end is nowhere in sight behind this dense swarm, even if both flamethrowers perform at their best with thirty sprays, it might not be enough to eliminate these insects!

”We’ll hold off these bugs, you evacuate as soon as possible.” Luo Xudong’s stern face showed neither much fear nor worry, as if it was but a simple task to him.

Beisitian didn’t think that way. The more Luo Xudong acted like this, the more it indicated the serious nature of the situation. She and Luo Yirui were here; Luo Xudong intended to fight to the death and resist.

The result of fighting to the death may leave nothing of these special task forces!

Beisitian certainly wouldn’t let Luo Xudong face this situation alone. She turned around, squatted down, looking at a recovered Luo Yirui with a hint of surprise in her eyes. Not thinking further, she spoke seriously.

”Little Rui, Mom’s staying here with Dad to deal with those bugs, are you scared?” Beisitian asked.

She wouldn’t let Luo Yirui leave alone; if staying, then the three of them would stay together!

It’s not that Beisitian thought little of it, nor was she disregarding Luo Yirui’s safety, but with her there, there’s hope for survival.

These bugs aren’t completely undefeatable!

Luo Yirui shook his head, ”Mom, I’m not afraid!”

His tone was tender yet firm, performing far better than some Mystic Doctors behind him, making one feel this small child was more composed than some adults!

Chen Yang’s forehead was drenched in sweat. Although he knew he was less composed than a child, facing a potential lethal outcome, even with embarrassment, he couldn’t control his emotions.

The same went for Zou Yulu. She’d rather jump off a building than be eaten by bugs. For her, except for those disgusting colorful bugs buzzing around, nothing else mattered, even her brain had stopped functioning.

Lin Yunping’s face also looked grim; other people’s expressions were no better. They had no time to care about the small commotion between the big and little ones.

Beisitian heard Luo Yirui’s answer, noticing despite fear in his eyes, there was incredible determination, she smiled with satisfaction.

Chu Zhicheng moved his gaze, looking at Luo Yirui, thinking this child with average aptitude might achieve great things!

Beisitian positioned Luo Yirui and Jing Changle in the middle of the crowd, allowing the task force to protect them, while Mystic Doctor stood on the outermost edge.

At this point, some voiced their opinions.

Lin Yunping said discontentedly, ”The task of the special task force is to protect the Mystics, not retreat to the back!”

His words were quite blunt. In fact, he never held these special task forces in high regard, however strong they were, they were just ordinary people!

To his disrespect, the task force members showed no special expressions but a bit of irony and chill in their eyes.

They had seen many such people, or Mystics.

Beisitian glanced at him and said, ”This mission, if I remember correctly, is completed by both the special task force and the Mystics, with Mystics assisting the task force. If you believe you should be protected, stand next to the two children.”

This comment left Lin Yunping blushing with anger, ”Don’t twist words and justify it, just because they’re your children!”

Perhaps everyone felt Lin Yunping’s words were excessive, but at that moment, they couldn’t help but stand by him because they also hoped the task force would protect them, at least act as a shield, facing direct exposure to bugs was truly terrifying.

Therefore, no one refuted Lin Yunping’s words, but Chu Zhicheng frowned and said softly, ”Yunping, stop talking.”

The bugs were getting closer. With the Mystic doctors and the task force’s exceptional vision, they could even see the pointed mouth-like parts, with their four transparent wings covered in dot-like black spots.

In general, they looked more terrifying and disgusting up close.

Zou Yulu simply collapsed to her knees, and two fellow Association members hurriedly supported her. At that moment, it was no longer a concern, they asked Beisitian, ”Can she go to the back?”

Beisitian looked at them and said, ”No need to ask me. Anyone who wants to go to the back can go.”

Everyone exchanged glances. One of the Association members took Zou Yulu to the back, while another stayed. Chen Family’s Chen Shan tried to pull Chen Yang to leave, but Chen Yang shook his head in refusal. Chen Shan turned away in both urgency and anger.

Zhou Family’s Zhou Tong hesitated for a moment, but eventually followed, even though there were paths in all directions, facing the sheer number upfront was daunting. At least behind, the task force’s flamethrowers could help somewhat.

Lin Yunping was the first to clamor, but he didn’t go either, not because he realized anything, but because he couldn’t afford to lose face.
