I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 822: Chapter 821: Shocking Cause of Death

Chu Zhicheng just arrived and had no idea what had happened, but he knew that Zhan Lanqi was from the Ancient Wood School. With so many small families and factions present, they couldn’t make too much of a scene.

No matter how big the issue, it must be resolved privately.

”Did you remember what Doctor Bei said?” Chu Zhicheng asked Zhan Lanqi.

Upon hearing her elder’s inquiry, Zhan Lanqi’s pretty face turned from red to white, and sweat dripped from her forehead.

She might be able to do without the support of the Military Department, but she absolutely couldn’t do without her family’s support.

But could they not give her any face in front of so many people?

The answer was obviously no, they could not.

With Chu Zhicheng’s question, Zhan Lanqi had to respond.

”I remember,” Zhan Lanqi said word by word. After saying this, it was as if all her spirit was drained, and her expression became listless.

Her face was thoroughly lost.

Beisitian wouldn’t waste much energy on an ant. She said to Fang Yushan, ”General Fang, could you supply tools for a craniotomy?”

”Of course!” Fang Yushan immediately instructed someone to prepare them, in stark contrast to his earlier reaction when he heard Beisitian wanted to perform a craniotomy.

The others were the same; when they first heard Beisitian wanted to perform a craniotomy, they thought she was just showing off to gain attention.

But now, they felt like the real fools.

Chu Zhicheng was also intrigued, quickly forgetting about Zhan Lanqi’s matter, and he asked Beisitian, ”Why do you want to perform a craniotomy?”

Beisitian looked at the deceased and said, ”I think the cause of death should be in the head.”

”How can you tell?” Chu Zhicheng asked.

Beisitian pointed to the ear, ”Doctor Chu, look here, do you notice anything?”

As she finished speaking, surrounding Mystic Doctors and Military Department personnel gathered, very interested in the discussion between the two Great Powers, and were curious about Beisitian’s words.

But they saw nothing unusual with the ear; it appeared normal.

Chu Zhicheng looked closely and suddenly made a startled noise, gently touching it, ”What is this?”

Chen Yang craned his neck to see, noticing he was touching a small mole on the ear, and couldn’t help but say it out loud.

”Isn’t that just a mole!”

Chu Zhicheng shook his head, ”No, it’s not a mole, this is...” His face suddenly showed a hint of fear, and he subconsciously took a step back, then quickly looked up at Beisitian, ”Could it be...”

Beisitian nodded, ”Eight or nine times out of ten, it is.”

Chu Zhicheng’s eyes widened, and his face turned pale, ”I really... hope you and I are both wrong!”

Beisitian said nothing. She also hoped to be wrong, but her judgment was clear.

The crowd looked at each other, watching the two Great Powers playing a guessing game. They were all curious and excited, but after seeing Chu Zhicheng’s expression, they knew this matter was serious.

A craniotomy didn’t require Beisitian; the hospital had specialized personnel to perform it.

Under the joint effort of the hospital’s doctors and medical assistants, they opened the skull of the deceased, revealing a sight that shocked everyone, even causing two women to gasp and cover their mouths in fear.

At this moment, inside the deceased’s head, where the brain should have been, was empty, leaving behind a layer of dense black spots.

This was no mole; a mole couldn’t grow in this location.

Chu Zhicheng looked at these black spots, his face becoming extremely ugly. Beside him, Fang Yushan frowned and asked, ”What exactly is this?”

Beisitian and Chu Zhicheng exchanged a glance, and Tian Zhi, standing beside them, spoke gravely, ”Brain-eating Worm!”

Brain-eating Worm?

Fang Yushan was completely confused. Some of the Mystic Doctors looked bewildered, some showed puzzled expressions, and others seemed deep in thought.

Beisitian said in a deep voice, ”The Brain-eating Worm is thought to have been extinct for a long time. I didn’t expect to see it again today.”

Every time the Brain-eating Worm appeared, it brought great catastrophe. It is something even Mystic Doctors deeply fear.

The military is also unable to defend against this worm. No matter how powerful the weapon is, it can’t target these tiny worms that are as small as flying insects.

Using insecticides doesn’t harm the Brain-eating Worm; rather, it nourishes them.

Moreover, these worms appear in clusters. A cluster the size of a fist can consume a sheep’s brain in less than a minute!

For ordinary people, these creatures are a disaster. For Mystic Doctors, they are also a disaster as they can neither resist these worms nor produce talismanic water to eliminate them, only hinder them at best.

”So, this person died because his brain was eaten?” Chen Yang asked, dumbfounded.

Beisitian nodded, saying, ”Perhaps they entered for less than half a minute, and the heart didn’t even stop beating.”

Chen Yang rubbed his nose, realizing now he wouldn’t argue against Beisitian anymore.

”Then... was that person with worms in the stomach killed the same way?” asked the woman from the Association who thought Beisitian looked familiar.

This woman was in her forties, with a shapely figure, wearing a business suit that looked very formal. Her hair was neatly tied back, and she wore light makeup. Without looking at her records, one would assume she’s in her thirties.

Beisitian shook her head, ”No, that worm is poisonous, causing paralysis and death by respiratory difficulty.”

She didn’t mention that those worms reproduce extremely quickly, unlike normal creatures. Perhaps only two or three worms entered the stomach initially, but by the time of dissection, they had multiplied, bursting the stomach.

However, these worms aren’t as terrifying as the Brain-eating Worm because although they reproduce quickly, they also die quickly without air. As their numbers increase, they suffocate in the stomach.

Lin Yunping raised an eyebrow at Beisitian, ”Doctor Bei is very knowledgeable. What was the cause of death for the person with the rotted intestines?”

Chen Yang immediately perked up his ears. He had previously argued with Beisitian over this matter.

Beisitian remained silent, for this was her real concern.

Lin Yunping raised an eyebrow again, ”Doctor Bei wouldn’t happen not to know, would you?”

His tone was somewhat impolite.

Beisitian frowned slightly, her cold eyes looking at Lin Yunping, with a hint of chill, ”I’m not well-versed in the Ancient Wood School. Are all the members like Doctor Lin and Miss Zhan?”

Lin Yunping’s face turned unsightly immediately.

”Does the Ancient Wood School have a problem with my Qingyu School? Miss Zhan said it wasn’t intentional, which I won’t comment on, but what about Doctor Lin? Was it not intentional either?”
