Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 985: Chapter 578: Intention Achieved / Visiting

”Mr. Lin, I actually have a suggestion. How about Old Sichuan Restaurant converts its shares directly into Liangyou, and you get dividends every year. How does that sound?” Qu Yue decided to help all the way.

”Oh, I’m really embarrassed.” Lin Jinguang waved his hands repeatedly, ”A company like Liangyou doesn’t care for assets like Old Sichuan Restaurant. Your generosity, President Qu, is something I can’t bear.”

”There’s nothing you can’t bear. If you really feel you’ve owed me a favor, then manage Old Sichuan Restaurant well and save me the worry.” Qu Yue smiled, ”Actually, I’m willing to help because of Ye’er. Ye’er feels very guilty about Zhu Jiangyu taking a break from school. As her best friend, I hope she’s happy, and I hope Mr. Lin doesn’t misunderstand that I have ulterior motives in helping.”

”No, no, I wouldn’t be so misguided.” Lin Jinguang thought for a moment, ”How about this, I’ll still need help from President Qu and President Luo to cover for a couple of days. Once I’ve prepared the asset evaluation report, I’ll come back to discuss the acquisition with you, is that okay?”

”I’m heading to Beijing tomorrow, so you can handle the rest with President Qu.” Luo Ye wrapped his arm around Qu Yue and patted him, ”Mr. Qu, thanks for your hard work, and thank you!”

”Silly girl, why are you being polite with me?” Qu Yue affectionately patted her head, ”If you keep saying polite things, I’ll get mad.”

Luo Ye smiled at him with her eyes filled with gratitude, ”Just this once, I won’t say it again.”

She helped Lin Jinguang, naturally because of Zhu Jiangyu. No matter how Zhu Jiangyu was before, he now considers everything for her. If it weren’t for her, he wouldn’t have taken a break from school for no reason.

But because of various busy affairs, she really couldn’t spare the time. If Zhu Jianglin hadn’t come to her, she wouldn’t have known about Zhu Jiangyu’s break from school for who knows how long.

So, when the other party came asking for help, she thought it over and decided to thick-skinnedly ask Mr. Qu for help.

Liangyou is Mr. Qu’s painstaking effort. After she awkwardly made the opening move, Mr. Qu voluntarily arranged the rest of the tactics. In this lifetime, she probably owes the most to Mr. Qu.

Zhu Xiaoxue hesitated for a moment, pulled Luo Ye’s palm over, and looked at it, corner of her lips curling up, ”Luoluo, I hope you won’t get mad at what I’m about to say. Your romantic prospects are quite strong, and they’re all very promising ones.”

Luo Ye awkwardly smiled, ”Sister Xiao Xue, are you going to say next that Zhu Jiangyu meeting me was actually his bad luck?”

Zhu Xiaoxue shook her head, ”No, matters of the heart are inexplicable, and plus, from the palmistry, you’re a girl with clear emotions. If they like you, it’s because you’re too outstanding.”

Luo Ye grimaced, ”Are you really good at reading palms or are you just comforting me on purpose?”

Zhu Xiaoxue looked at her seriously, ”I wouldn’t make this up; I really know. I have a grand-uncle, very famous for reading palms. When I was little, he liked me a lot and taught me this. If you don’t believe me, you can ask our little Yu. He knows.

Also, I want to clarify; palmistry isn’t superstition. The lines on a person’s hands change with their fortune, and this fortune isn’t entirely predestined by heaven. It relates to one’s personality, state of mind, approach to things, and more.

The palm you see now doesn’t represent your lifetime’s fortune. If there’s even a slight change midway, the future could be completely different. So those fortune-tellers who claim to see all in one glance are mostly fooling people...”

Luo Ye interrupted her, ”So as Sister Xiao Xue said, no one can predict someone’s entire life’s fortune, right?”

”According to my grand-uncle, there are those who can, but such people are exceedingly rare.” Zhu Xiaoxue spread her hands, ”And even if they know, they wouldn’t reveal it; disclosing heaven’s secrets brings severe punishment.”

”Miss Zhu, why are you making me nervous?” Qu Yue extended his hand, ”Can you have a look for me? How long can I accompany Luoluo in this lifetime? To put it bluntly, when will she stop paying attention to me?”

Zhu Xiaoxue apologetically shook her head, ”That I can’t read.”

Lin Jinguang also stretched his hand over, ”Xiao Xue, how about looking and telling me when I can get married?”

Zhu Xiaoxue shook her head, ”I can’t read that.”

”Why can’t you? Is there a problem?” Lin Jinguang peered at his palm, full of confusion.

Luo Ye, exasperated, slapped her forehead, ”Mr. Lin, are you really clueless or just pretending to be? Isn’t getting married entirely up to you? Proposing... Can’t you propose? I’m speechless!”

”I’m speechless too.” Qu Yue empathetically patted Lin Jinguang, ”No wonder you’re still unmarried at your age. You’re uncommonly dull in emotional matters. It’s fortunate you’ve met a unique woman like Sister Xiao Xue or you’d spend your life alone!”

”Hehehe...” Lin Jinguang chuckled sheepishly, ”I hadn’t thought of that.”

”Uh...” Luo Ye was utterly speechless. This man is truly the epitome of passive in emotional matters.

Zhu Xiaoxue rolled her eyes, ”Stop giggling foolishly. Lin Jinguang, are you willing to marry me?”

What’s going on? Luo Ye and Qu Yue’s eyes popped wide open instantly. Is this a proposal? Is Lin Jinguang being proposed to? But on reflection, if Zhu Xiaoxue weren’t a bit more proactive, based on Lin Jinguang’s personality, who knows when their spring would come.

Luo Ye nudged the dumbfounded Lin Jinguang, ”Mr. Lin, willing or not, Sister Xiao Xue is waiting for your answer.”

Lin Jinguang looked conflicted, ”Of... of course I’m willing, but, but, isn’t proposing a man’s role?”

Zhu Xiaoxue glared at him, ”Who says only men can propose? Are you discriminating against women?”

Lin Jinguang quickly pleaded, ”I... I wouldn’t dare discriminate against women, okay, from now on you’ll be the party leader at home, and I’ll just be...”

”The gun, just tell me where to aim, and I’ll aim there; tell me where to shoot, and I’ll shoot there.”

Ye Xiaoxue looked at him seriously: ”You said it yourself, don’t take it back. First, when it comes to treating your sister-in-law and niece, you must listen to me, okay?”

”No problem, how about we go get the certificate today? From now on, I’ll leave all the household affairs to my wife to handle, how’s that?”

Ye Xiaoxue stared at him speechlessly: ”Were you just pretending earlier? How come you reacted so fast now? Let me tell you, it’s not so easy to trick me into tying the knot. I haven’t even enjoyed the feeling of being pursued yet.”

”Huh?” Lin Jinguang looked at her blankly, ”I’ve already proposed, and you’re still talking about wanting to be pursued?”

”You’re unwilling?” Ye Xiaoxue said, waving to Luo Ye and Qu Yue, ”Thanks for your help, I’ll host when Luoluo returns from Beijing. Let’s leave it at that.”

”Alright.” Luo Ye and Qu Yue both responded in unison.

Lin Jinguang smiled somewhat shyly: ”Gentlemen, I won’t disturb you. I’ll come by again once the materials are prepared.”

Luo Ye nodded: ”Mr. Lin, pursuing your girlfriend is important, we understand, go quickly, or you might miss your chance.”

”My apologies!” Lin Jinguang finished speaking, and his figure quickly disappeared at the door.

”I’m really envious of him.” Qu Yue sighed, ”I also want to formally pursue Ye’er, but unfortunately...” shaking his head, ”I really can’t bear seeing Ye’er troubled.”

”Boss Qu, I really don’t know what to say.” Luo Ye hesitated for a moment, looking at him, ”Saying I hope you’ll be happy forever seems kind of hollow and official, but I don’t know what else to say.”

”Alright, just don’t say anything too mushy. Actually, I really like the current situation. We are the best of friends, the most harmonious partners. Our relationship is more reliable than lovers, more casual than family, it’s a feeling that transcends familial love, romantic love, and friendship. I really like this unique feeling, doesn’t Ye’er like it?”

”I do!” Luo Ye nodded with a smile, ”Whenever you’re tired, just let me know, and I’ll keep an eye out for a nice girl for you.”

Qu Yue proudly shook his head: ”Such a handsome Mr. Qu still needs Ye’er to help keep an eye out for girls? As soon as I beckon, they’ll flock over in droves.”

Luo Ye glared with her bright eyes: ”Those flocking like that are crows.”

”Uh...” Mr. Qu was at a loss for words.

Luo Ye checked the time: ”Mr. Qu, do you have anything coming up next?”

Qu Yue stretched lazily: ”Whether I do or don’t, as long as Ye’er has something, that’s definitely a priority. Tell me, what do you need me to do?”

Luo Ye sighed lightly: ”Tomorrow we have to go to Beijing. Before leaving, Zhan Hao and I want to visit Qi Ziheng. We’re going on his behalf, originally didn’t want to go to the hospital for fear of upsetting him, but yesterday a classmate of his came back and said he wants to see us, scheduled for 10 AM today. Do you want to come along?”

”I’ll come. Might as well bring him some nourishing stuff.” Qu Yue said, and then pressed the phone outside to give instructions, ”Please pack a can of bird’s nest soup and a can of caterpillar fungus soup for me, make it quick.”

”Mr. Qu, you’re so considerate.” Luo Ye shook her head, swallowing the rest of her words.

”Want to say, whoever marries me will be lucky?” Qu Yue pouted, ”I, Mr. Qu, do things based on my mood. If I’m not fond of it, I can be quite careless. Of course, by saying this, Ye’er shouldn’t feel pressured, otherwise my only pleasure will be taken away.”

Luo Ye smiled helplessly: ”Understood, Mr. Qu.”

...

On the hospital bed, Qi Ziheng was weak, pale, as thin as a paper figure. Seeing Luo Ye and the others come in, he eagerly tried to sit up.

”Ziheng, didn’t mom say she’d help with whatever you need? How come you’ve forgotten again?” said the lady sitting by the bedside, gently helping her son up, scolding softly.

”Hello, Auntie, I’m Luo Ye.”

”Hello, Auntie, I’m Zhan Hao.”

”Hello, Auntie, I’m Qu Yue.”

After greeting, Qu Yue handed the flask to Mrs. Qi: ”Auntie, this was brewed at our own shop, it’s very nutritious, please have it as lunch with Ziheng.”

”Thank you, thank you, really too much trouble for you, please sit down.” Mrs. Qi said as she busily looked for a chair.

Luo Ye quickly stopped her: ”Auntie, don’t worry about it, Ziheng is so weak he shouldn’t be exerting himself too much, we’ll just stand for a while and then leave.”

”He’s looking forward to company right now, could you stay a little longer?” Mrs. Qi implored, looking at them with hope in her eyes. Qi Ziheng also showed a hopeful gaze. (To be continued.
