Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 642: Chapter 380: Qiao Aimin’s Invitation / Luo Lian’s Hard Life

”No, no, I wouldn’t dare stare at the Miss’s friends.” Qinqin hastily waved her hands in denial: ”I...” she hesitated, then gave a bitter smile, ”To be honest with you, Yanyan, Jiujiu, Qiuxiu and the others, they don’t really like me. Other employees, knowing that I’m Miss Luo’s person, they also won’t confide in me...”

Luo Ye looked at her with a smile: ”Are you saying that you want me to mention your difficulties to Lianlian?”

”No, it’s not that, I...” Qinqin bit her lip and said: ”I can tell that Miss trusts you a lot. Otherwise, she wouldn’t allow you into her office during work discussions, let alone let you wander around the design room.

So, I was thinking, if you could please tell Miss that I really want to do more for her. Right now, I’m only in charge of receiving guests, which is basically just idling away. I feel really bad about it. I would be willing, even if just to clean the restrooms.”

Luo Ye inquired with curiosity: ”Can’t you just take the initiative to clean?”

Qinqin gave a bitter smile: ”That won’t do, each job in the design room has a clear assignment; everyone sticks to their own tasks, and overstepping is not allowed.”

”I see.” Luo Ye chuckled: ”You’ve been with Lianlian for so many years, she must have plans for your work. It’s not really appropriate for me to ask on your behalf, don’t you think?”

A flash of disappointment passed through Qinqin’s eyes, and she smiled apologetically: ”Miss Luo, I’m really sorry for being presumptuous. I had no other intentions, it’s just that seeing Yanyan, Jiujiu, Qiuxiu being so helpful to Miss, only I am idling away, which makes me feel especially guilty.”

Luo Ye looked at her indifferently: ”I’m not familiar with your situation, so it’s not convenient for me to comment, sorry.”

”I won’t bother you anymore.” Qinqin politely bowed and then turned away.

Jiujiu quietly appeared in front of Luo Ye: ”Miss Luo, in terms of status, Qinqin and I are equals, so it’s not convenient for me to come over and stop her from bothering you. Please forgive me.”

”Not bad with your moves.” Luo Ye praised.

”I’ve always kept up with martial arts to protect Miss,” Jiujiu said proudly with a smile, ”I am Miss’s personal bodyguard. How could I afford to be poor in combat skills?”

All of a sudden, Luo Ye reached out to grab her. Jiujiu quickly dodged, yet her wrist was still caught by Luo Ye. With a swift movement to the side, she struck towards Luo Ye’s waist with a punch, cold in its ferocity, while shouting: ”Miss Luo, I apologize for this.”

”Not bad, not bad.” While praising, Luo Ye dodged and kicked at her knee. Jiujiu swiftly moved aside, narrowly avoiding it, and with some deft work tried to free her hand that Luo Ye had grasped, but Luo Ye seized the chance to pin both her hands behind her back.

Jiujiu’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment: ”Miss Luo, I was really too presumptuous just now.”

Luo Ye released her, saying, ”No, it’s because I seized the initiative since you trusted me and had no guard up. However, this also serves as a reminder for you, to always remain vigilant. After all, sometimes your opponent could be the person closest to you.”

”I understand,” said Xian Jiumeng, and as she spoke, she aimed a kick at Luo Ye’s lower body. Luo Ye swiftly spun on the spot to evade, and in the same motion, counterattacked with a punch. Jiujiu braced for the impact, and as their fists collided, she gasped in surprise. She had thought Luo Ye looked delicate and that she would have the upper hand in strength, but to her astonishment, Luo Ye was her equal in force!

The two exchanged blows for over ten minutes, and finally, Jiujiu admitted defeat to Luo Ye. Now she was truly convinced, clasping her fists in respect: ”Miss Luo, I hope to receive your guidance in the future.”

Luo Ye waved her hand with a smile: ”I dare not offer guidance, but I can spar with you occasionally.”

”Bravo, bravo...” Luo Lian clapped her hands as she came over: ”That was a real treat to watch. Luoluo, your appearance is so deceiving. Jiujiu underestimated you psychologically, thinking she could beat you – how unlikely.” She turned to Jiujiu: ”Don’t underestimate Luoluo, she has a professional master too.”

”Hehe...” Jiujiu laughed while rubbing her head: ”There really are people better than oneself. I always thought that at my age, my martial skills were good enough. Who knew Miss Luo could be so much better than me.”

”Luoluo is even a year younger than you,” Luo Lian said, eyeing Luo Ye with a smile: ”The clothes you wore today were really misleading. If you had been in camouflage, Jiujiu wouldn’t have been so careless.”

Luo Ye looked down at her attire and laughed as well. She was wearing a pair of blue casual jeans with a white short-sleeved thin cotton jacket, dressed youthfully like a middle school student, indeed very deceptive.
