Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 604: Chapter 362: Uncertain Life and Death / Luo Lian’s Origins

Xing Nong praised: ”Lianlian, even a biological father would just do this.”

”Yes, dad is the closest relative in this world to me. When mom left him, I was heartbroken for a long time. Unfortunately, they still separated. Fortunately, mom didn’t refuse me seeing dad.” Luo Lian’s eyes welled up with a hint of sadness: ”The days I was away from dad were the saddest days of my life.”

Luo Ye hugged her, not knowing what to say. Her words implied that her mother did not treat her well, but how could she ask about it?

”Take a seat.” Luo Lian pointed to the rattan chair: ”I know you all are puzzled and embarrassed to ask. I didn’t mention it before, not because I wanted to hide it from Xing Nong, but because I didn’t want to affect her with these unhappy matters.”

Luo Ye hesitated for a moment and said: ”Lianlian, we just feel sorry for you, nothing else.”

”I know.” Luo Lian nodded: ”Actually, my current mom is not my biological mother...” Saying this, Luo Lian bit her lip, looking up at the ceiling to keep her tears from falling.

”No wonder!” Luo Ye sighed, understanding a bit more in his eyes.

Xing Nong took her hand: ”Poor Lianlian, why didn’t you tell me sooner, you could come live with me in China, let my parents adopt you as their daughter.”

”Xing Nong, since I met you, I knew you are a true friend, and a friend who can help me, but I can’t leave for my mother’s sake, and of course, I’m talking about my biological mother.”

Luo Lian took a deep breath and continued: ”My biological mother is of Chinese and French descent; my grandparents passed away quite early, but they left behind a substantial inheritance, so my mother’s life wasn’t difficult.

Later, she met my dad. She never told me who my dad is. I only know that mom loved dad very much. Ever since I was old enough to understand, I would see her often staring blankly with a jade pendant.

Mom missed dad so much that her health deteriorated, and she left me when I was seven years old. Before she left, she gave me the jade pendant, saying it was a token from my dad, hoping that one day dad would see the jade pendant and recognize me. At the same time, she entrusted me and her estate to her best friend, who is now my mom, Emma.

Emma was a close friend who grew up with my mom. She has one son, Monique, and two daughters, Lisha and Alice—the latter being half a year younger than me.

When mom entrusted me to her, she had just married her stepfather with three children not long before, and four years later, they separated due to incompatible characters. I then went back to France with Emma.

Ever since I arrived at Emma’s family, my sisters didn’t like me, and Emma’s feelings for me were neither good nor bad, our relationship was polite and courteous.

The reason I chose to come to China was not only because I like China, but also because Emma wants to train Alice to become the most famous new designer in France, and I have to stay out of the way; now you understand, right?”

”Understood, no wonder you travel around every holiday instead of staying at home. Facing such a big family is indeed a headache; it’s really tough for you.” Luo Ye sighed: ”From what you said, Emma’s estate is actually your mother’s. What do you plan to do in the future?”

A trace of a bitter smile appeared on Luo Lian’s lip: ”All I can do now is try my best to keep what I can keep. I’m not greedy to take it all back; I just hope they leave a little bit for me.

My biological mother’s wish was to create the Luo Family’s own brand. I want to help her realize her dream. If I stay in France, this dream can never be realized, so I chose to return to China.

I believe that one day, I can showcase my own brand, and I can tell my mom with a smile that I’ve lived up to her, lived up to the Luo Family.”

”You will definitely succeed.” Luo Ye held her hand, her face sincere. ”Lianlian, our shared surname Luo is already fate. I won’t hide it from you, my Grandma’s family has properties in France, and my fiancé’s family also has good connections there. If you need it, I will ask them for help.”

”Thank you, Luoluo. I understand the weight of your words, but I don’t want to take back anything. I just want to showcase my own talent and start a brand belonging to me and my mom. Having friends like you giving me spiritual strength is enough.

Moreover, Emma has not shown any intention of stopping me from getting involved in the family business. I proposed setting up a branch in China, and she agreed immediately, without making it difficult for me regarding the funds.

As long as it’s like this, I am satisfied. After all, when mom left, I was just a child. If it wasn’t for her taking me in, the company might have been sold long ago.”

Luo Ye sighed. ”As long as you’re happy, that’s good. I just wanted to give you a heads up. In the future, don’t keep things to yourself. The three of us, we are your solid support.”

”I know. That’s why I say, Heaven is fair. While making me suffer, it sent you guys to my side. That’s stronger than anything.” Luo Lian said, putting her hands together and murmured a few words, then shyly smiled, ”I am a Christian.”

”Lianlian, have you ever thought about finding your biological father? Looking at your features, he must be of the yellow race, probably Chinese,” Yaoguang said.

”Let’s leave it to fate. If it’s destined, for my mom’s sake, I would acknowledge him, but that doesn’t mean I would like him. Since he never looked for me from the time I was born, it shows I am not important to him. In my heart, my stepfather is my dad.” Luo Lian smiled slightly. ”Good people do get good outcomes. My stepfather remarried and had a son. Now, my stepmother and brother are very good to me.”

”Lianlian, I didn’t realize you had such a complicated background.” Xing Nong looked at her sympathetically. ”It’s my fault for being so careless. We’ve known each other for so long, yet I didn’t know how hard your life has been.”

”Fool, I haven’t had a hard life materially; Emma hasn’t mistreated me in that aspect. It’s just that she gave me less emotionally.” Luo Lian sighed. ”Do you know why I kept in touch with you after making friends? ”

”I don’t know.” Xing Nong shook her head.

”I really like your kindness and simplicity, especially after starting college. The deadly competition among classmates made me long for a pure friendship.

I’ll tell you something that might sound exaggerated: In our design class of 29 students, the designs of 28 students were stolen, and the thief was the 29th student.

Everyone knew it was her, but since they couldn’t catch her red-handed, they could only watch her succeed, stay at the school, and marry our instructor.

Our instructor, George, is 27 this year, handsome and talented. Yet, he fell for that woman and married her.” Luo Lian spread her hands. ”Seeing such people and incidents around, I really need you to bring warmth and give me the courage to move forward.”

”Do you like the instructor?” Xing Nong sharply caught the crucial point.

”A little bit.” Luo Lian’s eyes flashed with a hint of loss, then returned to calm. ”All the girls in our class like him. It’s the kind of liking that’s respect and admiration for the instructor.”

”Lianlian, the furniture van has arrived!” Zhou Zhenhai’s shout came from downstairs.
