She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 292: Chapter 297 Street Dance Proposal

Sheng Ning also stood among the crowd and greeted Qiu Bai. It wasn’t out of flattery but genuine respect and admiration.

Overflowing with talent, knowledgeable and experienced, yet neither arrogant nor impatient, as tranquil as a gentle spring breeze, and decisive as thunder when it came to handling affairs.

Such a person was the goal she aspired to in this lifetime.

Qiu Bai nodded toward Sheng Ning.

This girl’s performance lately had been truly impressive, forcing Qiu Bai to look at her with new eyes.

“Alright! Everyone head back, today’s training is vocal music.”

“Yes,” everyone greeted and dispersed.

Chen Huaying had just finished practicing boxing and had disappeared somewhere. Sheng Ning looked around but couldn’t find her; she stood in an inconspicuous spot, waiting for the crowd to disperse before catching up with Qiu Bai’s pace.

“Teacher Qiu Bai, please wait a moment.”

“What is it?” Qiu Bai turned around.

“I want to talk to you about Chen Huaying.” Sheng Ning bit her lip, determined.

She had watched as Chen Huaying grew more and more disheartened recently and had finally resolved that she must find a way to pique her interest and couldn’t let her continue to sink into despair.

“Oh! Go ahead.”

“It’s like this, Chen Huaying isn’t interested in dancing to begin with. If she could try hip-hop dance, it might spark her interest.”

“Hip-hop?” Qiu Bai’s eyes lit up. “That’s a great idea!”

Hip-hop was already substantial among African-American youth in M Country and was leading the street culture there. When she had returned to her home country, although many traditionalists still scoffed, it did nothing to hinder the development of hip-hop.

Hip-hop culture was expanding rapidly.

Hip-hop dance has a strong participatory, performative, and competitive nature. The essence of hip-hop is to express one’s individuality, show the vitality and passion of youth, and reflect a life attitude bold in progress, emphasizing the philosophy “be yourself, enjoy life, dare to challenge.”

This philosophy was a passionate spark borne of the collision of the times, eagerly sought after and advocated by people in the wake of the spring breeze of reform and opening up.

If Chen Huaying really learned hip-hop and innovated on it, it would undoubtedly be a sensational event in the art world.

“Where did you hear about hip-hop?” asked Qiu Bai, puzzled. It was normal for her to know a little after four years studying abroad in M Country. But Sheng Ning, to put it bluntly, was just a country girl who hadn’t even been with the General Union for a year. With little chance to interact with foreigners, it would be hard for her to know about it.

Regarding this question, Sheng Ning had already thought of an answer before opening her mouth, so she calmly replied, “Last time I injured my leg and rested for quite a while, I heard about it when I went into the city to shop. I think if hip-hop is really that great, it would definitely suit Chen Huaying to learn.”

“It’s rare for you to consider others like this!” Qiu Bai’s look of satisfaction in her eyes grew.

Sheng Ning felt a bit embarrassed by the praise; she hadn’t intended to show off.

“Your suggestion is very good, but I don’t know how to hip-hop, and I fear it would be hard to find someone in the country who does.” She had been engrossed in Broadway performances in M Country and hadn’t had much contact with hip-hop culture.

“That’s okay, as long as you can get the videotapes and music CDs, we can learn on our own.”

“No problem then.” She had overseas contacts, so sending for them wouldn’t be an issue. “But you can’t, you’re not suited for hip-hop. Don’t neglect yourself in trying to help Chen Huaying.”

“I understand, thank you, Teacher Qiu Bai.” Resolving Chen Huaying’s problem eased Sheng Ning’s mind considerably.

Others might not know hip-hop, but she knew a bit.

In her previous life, after she was released from prison, feeling lonely and bored, she’d go watch people dance in the square after work, encountering many youths doing street dance. Dance was universally connected. She knew quite a bit about the rhythms and movements, and she believed that after dedicated effort and learning, she could certainly teach Chen Huaying the basics.

The rest would be up to her own comprehension.
