She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 280: Chapter 285: Break-in Period

“I’m telling you, this rebirth must be a great writer,” Wu Youli said, her face full of admiration, seemingly having transformed into a super fan. “Really so talented, truly so talented…”

“Enough! That’s enough! If you keep this disgusting talk up, I’m going to throw up last night’s dinner!” Chen Huaying scorned.

“This is the drama society’s most important arrangement coming up. I’ve heard it’s a key project, one that we can use to compete with the Song and Dance Troupe. By the time the Spring Festival arrives, we are certainly going to surprise everyone.”

“No matter how ambitious Hope Field’s plans are, it’s impossible to surpass her,” Chen Huaying quickly flipped through the script and after finishing, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes.

The story was very innovative, and importantly, it carried a very positive educational message, no wonder the Inspection Department took it so seriously.

“Are you the female lead?”

“I… I can’t be sure yet!” Wu Youli’s face reddened, “Our drama society’s president said that they would choose between me and another person. Even so, I’m already very satisfied.” Before, she never even dared to dream that she could be a leading actress one day.

“It has to be you!” Sheng Ning emphatically said.

“Hahaha… Thank you, Sheng Ning, for believing in me so much.”

Wu Youli rubbed her eyes, now reddened, looking as if she was about to cry.

“Lights out, it’s time for room inspection, everyone go to sleep!”

“Oh, oh!” The dormitory became a flurry of activity in the darkness before finally settling into calm.

The news that the General Union Dance Troupe was rehearsing Hope Field instantly created a sensation, rumored to be the proud art treasure of Western countries.

To be able to establish a song and dance play of their own within the country, and one characterized by the spirit of reform and opening up, both the President and the Inspection Department offered their unconditional support.

After a week’s trial period, all the candidates showed initial signs of coming together. Qiu Bai may seem gentle in demeanor, but she was just as commanding as Yang Wenying in managing others.

She was a very focused person, her demands for detail nearly reaching the point of meticulousness.

A successful song and dance play comes from the integration of five major domains: script, dramatic poetry, music, dance, and stage design. It builds a unique aesthetic system with the “script” as the foundation, “dramatic poetry” as the core, “music” as the soul, “dance” as the key form of expression, and “stage design” as the backdrop for the play’s development.

In this system, Qiu Bai was in charge of overseeing the entire rhythm. The script was commissioned from a famous professor at the Central Opera College. All of this had been in preparation since Qiu Bai’s time studying abroad in M country; when she chose to return home, her goal was to become the country’s first person in song and dance theater.

A week later, everyone was infected by Qiu Bai’s diligence and strictness—who didn’t aspire to be the first in the country in song and dance theater?

To be able to take part in Hope Field, not to mention getting promoted, one might even be awarded a third-class merit.

Everyone realized this was a rare opportunity; those who were not selected were eagerly trying to get involved. Those chosen were striving to perform briliiantly, desperate to retain their positions.

Those with outstanding talent worked even harder, hoping to become the lead.

Sheng Ning was no exception.

Having lived through her past life, she knew how successful and impressive Hope Field was, naturally, she treasured it twice as much. In her past life, she had watched Hope Field’s performances many times, and later, she would watch recordings over and over again. Dance and music were the areas where she focused her efforts.
