She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 281: Chapter 286: Swipe the Next Batch of People

She had wondered countless times, if only she had been the dance lead, what outcome would that have been? In her previous life, she didn’t dare to imagine, because “Hope Field” was simply too successful, too sensational!

It was the trailblazer of domestic song and dance dramas, the original, with a reputation that didn’t lose out to some classic works even internationally.

It was even the first, and only, song and dance drama to be staged on M country’s Broadway and received widespread acclaim.

Because of it, Qiu Bai was promoted three levels at once, becoming a professor at the Central Opera College.

After her rebirth, she dreamt of it constantly, desiring to strive, to change, to perform in “Hope Field.” She persisted in practicing yoga every day, and toiled in dance training just for this.

Half a month had passed, and Sheng Ning’s performance could be said to have surprised Qiu Bai to the point of disbelief. Her focus was so intense that it made everyone stop and look; her focus wasn’t feigned for anyone’s sake, nor was it just to get by at work. It was a pure love for her craft, where every dance move, every beat of the music she embodied seemed to brim with an ethereal charm.

In Yang Wenying’s office, Qiu Bai was conducting a routine work report.

“Half a month is still too short, I’ll need until the Spring Festival at the earliest to be ready for the stage,” Qiu Bai mused, biting the end of her pen deep in thought.

“You’ve taken away two-thirds of my Song and Dance Troupe!” Yang Wenying’s head ached, “It’s not acceptable, the consolation tasks for the year aren’t even finished yet!”

Each year, the General Union Dance Troupe had set tasks for cultural performances and consolation activities. These included tasks for teams, individuals, and even the Captain herself was not exempt.

If Qiu Bai kept hold of these two-thirds of the members, the tasks of the General Union Dance Troupe would definitely not be completed, and come the end-of-year evaluation, they would not only fail to be selected but also face criticism.

“No way!” Regarding this matter, Qiu Bai was exceptionally stubborn, “Think of a solution for this, but I really can’t let people go.”

“I would have thought of something if I could!” Yang Wenying threw up her hands, “If not, then pare down some people!” She’d originally intended to take advantage of her proximity to power to promote her own people. For this, she’d gone to someone who simply refused to budge. Now it seemed impossible!

“Some do need to be cut.” Qiu Bai sighed, “Some just aren’t agile enough in dance and can’t be helped even with training. If everyone were like Sheng Ning, I’d wake up laughing in my sleep.”

“Don’t! I need Sheng Ning too.” Yang Wenying had always been thinking about Sheng Ning’s “Butterfly Lovers”! “Before your ‘Hope Field’ debuts, I plan to use ‘Butterfly Lovers’ to squash Su Yun’s arrogance.”

“What’s happened now?” These two always seemed to be at odds; she really didn’t know if they were just bored.

“Heh…” Yang Wenying scoffed, “Isn’t it all because of your song and dance drama? Captain Su is bringing people over to ‘learn.ʼ” Learn my foot, if it wasn’t just an act of provocation. Well, this time it would be good! She now had a sharp sword in hand, ready to viciously slaughter her opponent’s limelight.

What about being the standard ensemble for national leader’s overseas visits, what about going overseas to spread the jewels of Chinese civilization?

She wanted to see if her precious jewel could remain smug forever.

“Troublesome!” Qiu Bai muttered, but held back her objection. After all, to support her, the whole activity of the General Union Dance Troupe had been put on hold.

Luckily this was at the General Union, where she encountered an unconventional President and a bold and audacious head of the Inspection Department. Had it been anywhere else, she would have never been able to act so freely.
