She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 282: Chapter 287: Troublemaker

“By the way, I heard that ‘Blood Rose,’ produced by the drama society, has received high praises?” Qiu Bai recalled the recent rumors she had heard; she had been too busy to attend. However, the drama society teacher she lived with had recently been walking with a spring in her step.

“That’s right!” Yang Wenying’s mood greatly improved when she mentioned it, “I really don’t know where Su Hai found a writer named ‘Rebirth.’ The script he wrote is quite good, the theme is novel, completely different from the stereotypical stuff from before.”

“Then I’ll make time to see it.” Having studied abroad, anything novel could pique her interest.

“You really should check it out.”

“Okay! By the way, Hai Lan officially came over today, do you want to meet her?” Qiu Bai asked.

“I’d rather not, you handle it.” Yang Wenying wasn’t very fond of Hai Lan, it could be said she wasn’t fond of anyone who was close to Su Yun. To put it bluntly, Hai Lan was just an adopted daughter of the Hai Family, acting like a spoiled heiress just because the real Hai Family daughter was lost.

A red revolutionary home is no old-style feudal family, what heiress? Didn’t Chen Huaying train to become a tomboy? Only Hai Lan and Su Yun carry their identities all day long, priding themselves on being noble!

What hierarchy? The merits accrued by the parents were meant to serve the people, not for her to squander.

Qiu Bai clearly saw Yang Wenying’s aversion and gave a helpless, bitter smile.

Hai Lan indeed had talent, fundamentally solid, nurtured from a young age, definitely different from those who joined halfway. She was the most capable candidate for the female lead of ‘Hope Field’ she had seen so far in the country.

“You call Hai Lan here, I hope you don’t regret it!” said Yang Wenying, “In my view, Sheng Ning has more potential, more talent. She hasn’t shone because she wasted her talent before, but it’s not too late for her to strive now, she’ll surpass Hai Lan sooner or later. Hai Lan, on the other hand, hasn’t progressed since she became famous at sixteen!”

Yang Wenying’s words were indeed sharp, virtually writing Hai Lan off completely.

“You’re being too harsh!” Qiu Bai warned, “With the support of the Hai Family, this lead role is no longer mine to decide!”

“You…bam!” Yang Wenying suddenly slammed the table and stood up, speaking fiercely, “I have the final say in my Song and Dance Troupe, and no one better try any funny business. Even if Hai Lan is from the Hai Family, Meng Family’s daughter-in-law, she has to behave herself, or she can just get lost.”

“Yes, yes… Don’t get so angry, it’s just my current speculation, not yet confirmed. Saying things like this, if they get out, it won’t be good for you.” Qiu Bai’s face turned pale.

The Hai Family, Meng Family, plus one, could reach the heavens with their influence. With Hai Lan’s strong background, if she really schemes to become the female lead, even if Qiu Bai is the head, there’s nothing she can do.

“What’s so bad about that? Should I have Hai Shuangjie come find me, or should Meng Xingzhi?” Yang Wenying’s voice grew louder as she got angrier.

“Shut up!” Qiu Bai couldn’t bear it anymore and shouted, “I have the final say on this matter, who the female lead will be, I will strictly decide based on personal ability, alright?”

“That’s more like it!” Yang Wenying, having achieved her goal, flashed a triumphant smile, “I’m telling you Mr. Bai, you must stick to the principles, abide by integrity, follow the union guidelines…”

“Enough, enough…stop. You always pin big labels on me.” Frustrated by Yang Wenying, Qiu Bai finally gave her a stern look and left.
