She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 252: Chapter 257 I Don’t Like Her Chapter 252: Chapter 257 I Don’t Like Her “I just had a last-minute meeting,” Su Yun said hurriedly with an apologetic smile. “Dad, I wouldn’t dare make you wait for me.”

“Have you eaten?” Su Hai played peacemaker and was about to get up to fetch her some food. “There’s still food in the kitchen.” He had specifically asked for a takeout when he came back from the Chen family.

“No need, no need!” Su Yun waved her hand casually. “I’m not hungry. I came back today just to chat with Dad.”

Su Hai’s movement to stand up halted for a moment, then he sat down nonchalantly.

The old man gave his son a look. “See, you’re trying to be kind, but she doesn’t appreciate it. Serves her right! If she doesn’t eat, good, I’ll have it for breakfast tomorrow.”

“Dad, how am I not appreciating it?” Su Yun felt she had been all smiles, yet the old man still didn’t think highly of her, which provoked her temper.

“Your brother personally brings you food, and you just dismiss him with a word. How is that appreciating?” The old man was so angry that he puffed out his beard and glared.

“Dad, you’re just biased.” Su Yun’s eyes reddened with grievance.

“Enough! Can you stop fighting? Every time we meet, it ends in a fight!” Su Hai interrupted, exasperated. “All of you are adults; why do you have to argue every time, as if it’s enjoyable?”

“Yes!” The old man, like a child, banged his walking stick forcefully.

“No!” Su Yun softly apologized, “Dad, don’t be angry. I didn’t mean it. I apologize.”

“Humph!”

*********

The incident with Su Yun gradually cooled down the spirits of a few girls.

The General Union Dance Troupe and the Qianjin Dance Troupe were old rivals, all united in their desire to beat the Qianjin Dance Troupe.

Now, seeing the main team of the Qianjin Dance Troupe, the girls felt somewhat repelled, and her somewhat haughty attitude added to their poor impression of her.

“I don’t like her!” Wu Youli muttered.

Lu Dabao, kicking pebbles along the road, tilted his head and said, “She’s pretty and competent.” Unsure whether he liked her or not.

Chen Huaying took a breath of cold air, trying to uplift everyone. “Alright! Let’s stop talking about her. She’s the wife of the Provincial Rescue Center Chairman. We are just small comrades; let’s sing instead!”

“I won’t sing; singing all day has worn me out!” Lu Dabao, one of the singers along with Yang Xiaoman.

The six walked back to the General Union, and although it was clear when they had arrived in the evening, now it had started to snow heavily. It was the first snow of the winter, arriving earlier than expected.

Everyone was full and quick on their feet, not minding the cold.

On the way there, everyone was laughing and joyful, but on the way back, everyone could see that Sheng Ning’s mood was off.

Zhang Hongmei glanced at Wu Youli, wanting to speak but stopping herself.

Liu Yilan and Chen Huaying exchanged looks and helplessly shrugged their shoulders. Then Liu Yilan gave Lu Dabao a suggestive glance, but Chen Huaying shook her head, not agreeing.

Liu Yilan glared, Chen Huaying rolled her eyes unhappily, reluctantly pulling Lu Dabao’s shoulder and said affectionately, “Dabao!”

“Speak properly; what’s this ‘Dabao’? It sounds like ‘big buckteeth’!” Lu Dabao clearly expressed his disdain.

Chen Huaying secretly rolled her eyes, but still said cheerily on the surface, “Dabao, let’s walk faster! They are too slow; let’s not bother with them.”

“Okay!” Lu Dabao, already annoyed by their slow pace, gladly agreed to the suggestion.
