Supreme Sword God

Chapter 123: Chapter 122: Brotherhood and Deep Affection, Drinking and Talking Through the Night

”Senior Sister, I’ll go check on Senior Brother,” Ye Chen changed the topic.

Regarding the matters at Lingyun Mountain, even if he knew some secrets, he couldn’t intervene for now. He could only assess the situation first.

As for Senior Brother Yuan Polu, having lost all his cultivation, he must be feeling terrible. Ye Chen always felt this was somehow related to him and harbored guilt in his heart.

Liu Meng’Er nodded and led Ye Chen to find Yuan Polu.

On the way.

Scenes of the first time seeing his Senior Brother appeared in Ye Chen’s mind, then Senior Brother secretly protecting him in the Luoyao Mountain Range, and finally, the scene where Senior Brother took in a large amount of poison to save Senior Sister...

This Senior Brother, with a dull head and a simple-minded nature...

Ye Chen’s emotions were becoming increasingly complex.

Liu Meng’Er was also feeling despondent, saying, ”Senior Brother’s talent is really poor, and he comes from a tough background. He grew up eating communal food in the village. Later, that village was attacked by demon beasts, and everyone else died.”

Fortunately, the teacher was passing by at the time and saved Senior Brother.

According to the teacher, at that time, Senior Brother was wielding two chipped long knives, relying on his innate brute strength to fight desperately against a Tier One Demon Beast... At that time, Senior Brother was only twelve years old.

After saving Senior Brother, the teacher didn’t bring him into the Spiritual Martial Division because of his poor aptitude, only teaching him a basic cultivation method. But unexpectedly, seven years ago, Senior Brother came to participate in the Cangxing Martial Arts Academy’s assessment and passed smoothly.

The teacher took him into the Spiritual Martial Division, not expecting him to achieve the true fusion of Spiritual Power and Martial Force, but Senior Brother put in countless efforts and successfully integrated Spiritual Power with Qi Blood.

Senior Brother’s sacrifices to become stronger are countless times greater than mine... If not for Senior Brother saving me this time, he wouldn’t have ended up like this...”

Saying this, Liu Meng’Er’s voice choked, her eyes red.

Ye Chen couldn’t help but clench his fists, saying, ”Senior Sister, don’t worry. If the Dragon Blood Pill from the Great Zhou Royal Family can’t restore Senior Brother, I’ll find another way. I will definitely help him regain his strength!

Although none of you say it, the matter arose because of me, and I will shoulder this responsibility.”

For anyone who cultivates, losing all their powers one day is a great pain.

Especially considering this Senior Brother, who put in countless efforts to become a strong cultivator, only to see his hopes shattered...

What if it were me?

Ye Chen asked himself.

If one day I lost all my powers, I wouldn’t be able to accept it; I’d rather die!

Soon, the two arrived at a smooth rock wall shimmering with a metallic luster.

This was the Crumbling Cliff of the Spiritual Martial Division.

The Spiritual Martial Division has two designated places for cultivation, with another being the Spirit Control Room.

Crumbling Cliff is for cultivating the body’s Qi Blood.

Spirit Control Room is for cultivating control over power.

Yuan Polu’s mastery of Spiritual Power and Martial Force was the integration of Spiritual Power and Qi Blood, so he spent most of his time at the Crumbling Cliff.

Liu Meng’Er’s mastery was the integration of Spiritual Power and Elemental Force, so she spent most of her time in the Spirit Control Room.

Within Ye Chen’s sight.

His Senior Brother Yuan Polu was sitting below the Crumbling Cliff.

That hulking figure exuded a trace of desolation and unspeakable melancholy.

Then, Yuan Polu stood up and punched the Crumbling Cliff.

”Boom!”

The recoil from the Crumbling Cliff forced Yuan Polu back several steps, almost causing him to fall.

Yuan Polu roared angrily and hurled his entire body at the Crumbling Cliff.

”Boom!”

This time, Yuan Polu’s body was sent flying back through the air.

”Senior Brother!”

Ye Chen flashed forward instantly, catching and steadying Yuan Polu as they landed safely.

Blood trickled from the corner of Yuan Polu’s mouth.

He quickly wiped away the blood, laughing heartily, ”Junior Brother, why are you here? I was just casually testing my skills; usually, I’m really strong. If you don’t believe me, ask your Senior Sister. One punch, and I can make a hole in the Crumbling Cliff!”

”Senior Brother...” Liu Meng’Er’s voice was choked with emotion.

Yuan Polu waved dismissively, saying boldly, ”What’s wrong with you two? Don’t you believe me? Hmph, in a few days, I’ll punch through the Crumbling Cliff, and then you’ll see how formidable I am!”

The more Yuan Polu acted like this.

The more painful it felt for Liu Meng’Er.

The same for Ye Chen.

But Ye Chen quickly reacted, smiling, ”Senior Brother, if you really break the Crumbling Cliff, the teacher won’t let you off. You’ve told me yourself, sometimes our teacher can be petty-minded.”

”Really?” Yuan Polu scratched the back of his head, ”I never said that. At most, I said behind his back that the teacher is rather childish.”

Liu Meng’Er also nodded, ”Senior Brother, you also said the teacher is petty!”

Yuan Polu looked alarmed, ”Junior Sister, Junior Brother, don’t set me up!”

The three of them exchanged glances and finally burst into laughter.

”Junior Brother, I’m hungry. Last time in the Luoyao Mountain Range, your roasted meat was delicious. You don’t know, for those few days I was protecting you, I was eating grass out of hunger, so you owe me a good meal now!”

Ye Chen said, ”Alright!”

Soon, a fire was lit, roasting demon beast meat on the flames, turning golden and shining, with a mouthwatering aroma.

Liu Meng’Er eagerly tried to snatch the roasting rack from Ye Chen’s hands.

Yuan Polu quickly stopped her, ”Junior Sister, you’d better not... Remember when you joined the freshman hunting camp? I was also secretly protecting you. You were eating grass back then to fill your stomach...”

Liu Meng’Er was utterly embarrassed!

It was something from four years ago, and she had completely forgotten it.

Thinking back now... it does seem true.

So embarrassing, and Senior Brother knows it!

”Meat without wine is lacking; Senior Sister... maybe you could get some?” Ye Chen suggested.

Yuan Polu quickly shouted, ”Junior Sister, go get some wine. There’s a jar of hundred-year spirit brew in the teacher’s room. If Junior Brother and I go, the teacher will definitely beat us, but he won’t blame you because you’re a girl; all you need is some coaxing.”

Liu Meng’Er looked hesitant.

The teacher wouldn’t beat me, right?

What the heck, going for it!

Soon, Liu Meng’Er returned with a wine jar in her hand.

The sunset.

Roasted meat.

A jar of spirit brew.

Three disciples of the Spiritual Martial Division.

No talk of cultivation and the future, just past stories.

As night unfolded gradually, Yuan Polu lay on the ground, drunkenly dazed.

Ye Chen and Liu Meng’Er were fine, their cultivation robust against the intoxication of the hundred-year spirit brew.

They watched the prostrate Yuan Polu, smiles tinged with bitterness.

Then, in his drunkenness, Yuan Polu stammered.

”The teacher said my talent is limited... Even reaching the fusion of Spiritual Power and Martial Force is my limit.

Junior Sister... you’re different; your future holds more promise than mine. It doesn’t matter if I’m ruined, but your path must not be severed.

And our Junior Brother... although he indeed tends to cause trouble, he calls you Senior Sister, and me Senior Brother; that makes us family.

I, Yuan Polu, am not skilled at anything else, but I have a life to give.

If anyone dares to harm my Junior Sister and Junior Brother, I’ll fight them with my life!”

Liu Meng’Er crouched on the ground, burying her face in her knees, hugging her legs, sobbing uncontrollably, and trembling all over.

Ye Chen’s eyes reddened, fists clenched, silently speechless.
