Supreme Sword God

Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Spirit Wave Impact, Must Take First Place!

Upon hearing Teacher Yang Tianji mention the new student hunting competition, Ye Chen immediately brought up another topic.

”Teacher, my senior sister said that once I have outlined seven strands of spirit patterns, I can perform a secret technique. Is that true?”

Ye Chen was curious about the secret techniques of spirit patterns.

The Thousand Spirits Secret Manual mentioned that the secret techniques of spirit patterns are termed Ling Techniques.

It is akin to the concept of martial techniques.

Yang Tianji nodded and said, ”Yes, I was just about to tell you about this Ling Technique I want to impart to you. It’s called Spirit Wave Impact, which can provide you with some attack methods of a Spirit Master even before you congeal a Spirit Seal.

This Ling Technique is not difficult, very easy to grasp. I plan to teach it to you today, and if you practice for just one night, it should be close to enough.”

Just one night?

Ye Chen asked, ”Teacher, what is the rank of this Ling Technique called Spirit Wave Impact?”

Yang Tianji smiled and replied, ”Ling Techniques seem similar to martial techniques, but Ling Techniques are not divided into ranks.

In fact, every Ling Technique doesn’t have a fixed framework.

Ling Techniques are merely a direction. Spirit Masters practice according to this direction and adjust based on their own spirit pattern characteristics.

This is because spirit patterns and Yuan Power are fundamentally different.

For example, Qian Xue’s Spirit Seal has fire, and your senior brother’s Spirit Seal also has fire.

They both practiced the same Ling Technique.

However, when Qian Xue uses the fire attribute Ling Technique, the effect is completely different from that when your senior brother uses it.

Qian Xue’s Ling Technique is extremely explosive.

But your senior brother’s Ling Technique, almost devoid of explosive power, primarily burns steadily for defense.

The reason for this lies in the difference in characteristics of the same attribute spirit patterns.

Yet, Yuan Power is generally similar, even if the martial artist grasps the power of the realm, the essence of the power of the realm still remains Yuan Power.”

Ye Chen somewhat understood.

It’s like how one’s power is Sword Yuan, albeit fundamentally still normal Yuan Power.

The essence of a Spirit Master’s power is the soul and spiritual power, but a Spirit Master’s Ling Technique isn’t executed through the soul or spiritual power. It requires spirit patterns and Spirit Seals as a medium!

”Teacher, can Spirit Wave Impact be practiced using just individual seven strands of spirit patterns? What if there are more spirit patterns, or if they form groups, can it still be practiced?” Ye Chen asked.

”This Ling Technique can be used even if you have congealed Spirit Seals.”

Saying this, Yang Tianji looked at Ye Chen with some suspicion.

Anyone unaware might think this kid has grouped spirit patterns.

Otherwise, why ask?

Ye Chen chuckled awkwardly.

Worried for nothing.

As long as it doesn’t affect anything.

Currently, he possesses four sets of Tier Two Spirit Seals. Speaking of explosiveness, it would be almost at the level of a Tier Two Earth Seal Spirit Master, right?

Of course, it might not be as good as a Tier Two Earth Seal Spirit Master, since the spirit patterns significantly enhance the power after being congealed into Spirit Seals.

But it’s certainly not weaker than a regular Tier Two Spirit Master!

”This is the practice method for Spirit Wave Impact, take it back yourself and ponder it. If there’s anything you don’t understand, come back in the evening to ask me. Meanwhile, I have to go see Meng Changtian and He Dong.”

Yang Tianji took out a small booklet from his sleeve and tossed it to Ye Chen.

Ye Chen received the booklet and, bowing towards Yang Tianji, said, ”Thank you, Teacher.”

First, for imparting the Ling Technique.

Second, for his efforts concerning the new student hunting competition.

The people Yang Tianji was going to see, Meng Changtian was the deputy dean of the Star Spirit System, and He Dong was the deputy dean of the Star Martial System.

What could be the purpose of visiting them?

Ye Chen could roughly guess, likely a warning to prevent any underhanded tactics during the new student hunting competition.

...

Returning home, Ye Chen immediately started looking through the Spirit Wave Impact Ling Technique.

The booklet had many annotations and explanations made by Yang Tianji, detailed and easy to understand.

After reading it several times, Ye Chen began to try and control the four sets of spirit patterns in his Sea of Consciousness, along with those ten scattered spirit patterns, vibrating them at a special frequency!

To perform Spirit Wave Impact, one must maintain the spirit patterns at the same vibration frequency.

This point is not too difficult.

And for those who have congealed Spirit Seals, it’s no difficulty at all.

Ling Techniques are indeed easy to get started with.

The real challenge is to perfectly combine one’s spirit pattern characteristics with the direction provided by the Ling Technique, which requires a lot of time.

But Ye Chen...

is walking the path of an Extreme Spirit Master!

Furthermore, his path is completely different from that of the Star Spirit System’s Extreme Spirit Master, Jiang Tao.

Jiang Tao walks the path of an Extreme Spirit Master with thunder-attribute spirit patterns, possessing countless transformations of power.

However, Ye Chen’s blade-edge spirit patterns only have the characteristic of sharpness, without any fancy variations. To integrate the characteristics of the blade-edge spirit patterns with Ling Techniques naturally requires less consideration.

A moment later.

The spirit patterns in Ye Chen’s Sea of Consciousness were all vibrating at the same frequency.

Immediately after, these spirit patterns suddenly surged.

A large number of white light dots within the Sea of Consciousness World rushed into the spirit patterns, then burst out through the spirit patterns.

The spiritual power carrying a strong sharpness immediately transformed into invisible swords, bursting forth from the center of Ye Chen’s brows!

The air surged like ocean waves, raising a current of air!

Imagining the spiritual power transformed from spirit patterns as swords, this is Ye Chen’s method of utilizing the characteristics of blade spirit patterns.

As for how effective it truly is, there isn’t anyone to test it on now.

He tried a few more times with the spirit wave impact, consuming quite a bit of spiritual power, but the effect was still good. In a single breath’s time, he could unleash this technique without needing much time to prepare.

Entering the Sword Tomb!

Luo Qingyi glanced at Ye Chen and said nothing.

Ye Chen took the initiative to greet her, and then went to refine the tombstones.

This time, he still chose the Dripping Water Sword Intent, using the special environment within the Sword Tomb to enhance his control over it.

As for Gale Sword Intent and Thunder Sword Intent, he didn’t intend to waste the tombstones in the Sword Tomb on them.

The Dripping Water Sword Intent is one of the Five Elements Sword Intents. Luo Qingyi said that mastering the Five Elements Sword Intent could unlock a very powerful swordsmanship legacy, so for now, the Five Elements Sword Intent takes precedence.

After refining two giant tombstones, two wisp remnants of Celestial Demon souls were resolved.

Ye Chen’s understanding of the Dripping Water Sword Intent reached a new height; although still not as good as the Slaughter Sword Intent, it was almost on par.

In the future, there was no need to waste the tombstone; he could ponder over it himself.

”Elder Qingyi, I’m going over to practice the Heaven-Ascending Step now.”

”Wait.” Luo Qingyi called out to Ye Chen, saying, ”Spit some blood.”

Last time, she wanted Ye Chen to spit some blood to continue researching his bloodline issue, but forgot. Afraid of forgetting again this time, she quickly collected it.

Ye Chen: ”...”

He spat a mouthful of blood essence for Luo Qingyi.

Since he recovered quickly, spitting occasionally wasn’t a big deal.

Just not too much...

After obtaining the blood essence, Luo Qingyi disappeared with a swoosh.

Ha, women, heartless!

Ye Chen arrived at the place he practiced the Heaven-Ascending Step last time.

Tian Can’s two legs were swaying at the mountain top. Suddenly, they turned into a golden light and instantly appeared in front of Ye Chen.

”Kid, you finally came in. It looks like your legs have recovered, so continue then!”

He thought Ye Chen hadn’t come for half a month because he was healing his legs.

”Thump, thump, thump...”

Tian Can’s two legs, after stamping seven footprints on the ground, appeared again in front of Ye Chen, saying, ”Try harder, as long as you maintain the resilience from last time, at most a year, and you can initially master the Seven Steps to Heaven. By then, your speed would surpass others with cultivation two major realms higher!”

”Thank you, Master Legs.”

After Ye Chen finished speaking, he directly began to walk according to the seven footprints on the ground.

Tian Can’s two legs, with the leg hair fluttering.

Calling himself Master Legs?

This kid is quite interesting.

Two hours passed.

Ye Chen walked through thirty-five times before stopping.

Even with the mysterious warm flow, his two legs became like elephants’.

Continuing further made no sense.

The sensation in his legs was almost gone...

His understanding of the Seven Steps to Heaven deepened a lot, but Ye Chen still wasn’t confident that he could walk these seven steps with his strength alone.

The more difficult the entry.

It means that the Heaven-Ascending Step is truly formidable!

Ye Chen also gained more insights into the tombstones of the Sword Tomb.

The Nine Heavens Sword Manual must be much more powerful than the Heaven-Ascending Step. Otherwise, it couldn’t have chopped off and suppressed Master Legs’ two legs within the Sword Tomb.

That means training in the Nine Heavens Sword Manual is even more difficult.

But with the help of tombstones, training in the Nine Heavens Sword Manual is actually quite simple for him...

After leaving the Sword Tomb.

Night fell again.

Ye Chen spent some time utilizing the mysterious warm flow to restore his legs to normal, and then lay down to rest.

Tomorrow, the freshmen hunting competition will officially start. He still needs to conserve energy and store strength.

The next morning.

Ye Chen left his residence, went to Yang Tianji’s place, where Yang Tianji seemed to be waiting in the courtyard. Seeing Ye Chen come, he said, ”Everything alright with the spirit wave impact?”

”It’s been going smoothly.”

Yang Tianji nodded, saying, ”Go ahead. The others have already started gathering at the foot of the mountain.”

Ye Chen saluted, left the Spirit Martial System, and headed towards the foot of Cangxing Martial Arts Academy’s mountain.

Regarding the upcoming trial, Ye Chen felt full of anticipation, yet also very aware that this trial would not go so smoothly.

There’s a high possibility a batch of monsters and demons wanting to deal with him will appear!

But so what?

If there’s a fight, fight! If there’s someone to kill, kill them!

As for the first place, he must grab it. It’s his first test on the path to becoming a strong warrior, and he must deliver a perfect answer sheet!
