Bear School Astartes

After explaining these matters, the director of the Plant Research Institute finally turned to leave, seeking the Commander-in-Chief to learn about the news Lann brought back, as well as the subsequent action guidelines for the Expedition Team based on this information.

He should be the calmest among the department heads of the New Continent Expedition Team, as his primary interest lies in plants.

Meanwhile, Lann and Tishaya left the artificially cultivated ’small ancient tree’ together.

On the road, Tishaya put the seeds of three plants into her small bag.

She, of course, also had her own spatial expansion bag, which was a gorgeously stitched handbag. Naturally, compared to Margaret’s, it was quite plain.

”You said you saw those blue dots of light.”

Tishaya spoke without apparent concern as she packed the seeds into her bag.

”Were they pure blue, or blue as a base, with brightness so high it nearly appeared white?”

Lann was walking normally at first but suddenly raised his eyebrows in surprise, turning to look at the female Warlock.

”Wait, Tishaya...did you use magic?”

Saying this, Lann’s eyes suddenly became profound, and then he shook his head, denying his previous statement.

”No, your body still only contains a trace of my Chaos Magic Power. Have you...really researched something new?!”

This time, Lann’s surprise was even greater than before.

Though female Warlocks are casters, they don’t possess the ability, like Lann’s [Spiritual Vision], to directly observe Chaos Magic Power.

In the Magical Middle Ages, casters, regardless of gender, had to undergo training to have a vague perception of Chaos Magic Power.

Before this, they only felt something wrong with their body due to the Chaos Magic Power within them.

Without control, they would be affected by Chaos Magic Power, turning into deformities, suffering premature death, or becoming imbeciles.

Even upon entering the Magic Academy, without reaching a certain level of study, they couldn’t directly observe Chaos Magic Power.

That required specific instruments or magic, as the traces of Chaos Magic Power are not intuitive to humans.

Already having a general sense before any practice was considered a keen talent.

And now, this isn’t even during the Magical Middle Ages; this is the New Continent!

A New Continent devoid of Chaos Magic Power!

And Tishaya...

”No, maintaining spellcasting abilities across world and energy systems isn’t that easy.”

The female Warlock shook her head calmly.

Her tone carried a hint of ’knowing it was inevitable, but still feeling down’.

Lann understood and nodded; this project indeed sounded like a rather grand proposition.

The Elves have crossed countless worlds, accumulating knowledge and experimental data to cultivate their scarce sages.

Even if Elves are currently a discriminated and oppressed weak race in the Magical Middle Ages.

It was a civilization capable of world-crossing before, only faltering due to technical discontinuity.

But before Lann’s mind could nod twice, the female Warlock raised her hand, using her slender fingers to tuck loose strands of hair behind her long, graceful neck, speaking calmly.

”However, despite not finding a clue to gain spellcasting abilities in this world, I’ve been a caster for so many years, so my mental strength remains.”

The young Demon Hunter blinked his eyes.

Tishaya’s slender hand seemed to sway randomly in the air.

But in [Spiritual Vision], her hand straightly passed through the densest spots of those quietly floating blue dots of light in the air.

”This world’s energy is filled with a powerful life force and is highly active.”

”On the third day after losing focus on magic itself and concentrating on theoretical research, I began to vaguely notice this energy.”

Tishaya’s toe gently tapped the ground at Star Base, producing a slight knock on the wooden boards.

”The truly powerful force remains hidden deep beneath the crust, flowing profoundly... It’s a majestic strength. Yet, I have no idea how to mobilize it, not even slightly alter it.”

”That’s what the locals often call the [Power of Earth Veins]. Or perhaps [Dragon Veins Power].” Lann looked at Tishaya, as if marveling at her keen insight and talent as a caster.

”According to the director of the Ecological Research Institute, it’s a life force torrent circulating, accumulating, and consuming within the world.”

”Though no way has been found to harness this force, I must say, Tishaya...your talent as a caster may exceed imagination.”

Lann praised the progress the female Warlock had made during this period.

Although possessing the mental fortitude and experience of an old spellcaster of several hundred years, regaining sensitivity to the unique energy of the New World just days after temporarily abandoning Chaos Magic is still quite an impressive feat.

As for Tishaya, she did not feel a sense of pride from Lann’s compliment.

”It’s nothing special. If Gedemitis were here instead, he would have done better than me because his experience is deeper than mine.”

”Or Margaret would do the same, as her talent in this area surpasses mine as well.”

”I was just fortunate to be the first to step into this world.”

As she spoke, the Female Warlock glanced at the young man beside her.

”It’s thanks to you. Otherwise, I might not have truly understood the essential difference between a ’Sage’ and a ’Warlock’ by now.”

”As long as there are gains, don’t dwell on it too much.”

Lann waved his hand nonchalantly.

Though he had studied the casters’ affairs, as a Demon Hunter, he ultimately lacked true casting abilities and therefore did not invest much energy in paying attention.

-----------------

Returning the Fog Nest Master’s corpse to the New Continent, the journey, though rushed at the start, rewarded everyone who set foot on the New Continent with some gains.

Belengar, dragged along to work, officially commenced a technical exchange with blacksmiths from the Otherworld.

From then on, he claimed he was no longer just one of those craftsmen ’spinning in a limited circle’... of course, this was according to his own words.

Lann suspected he was actually still disgruntled with the Novigrad Blacksmiths’ Guild, which had rated him at the time. So, when he spoke, it carried a tinge of implied dissatisfaction and sarcasm.

Serving as the technical support for the journey, Tishaya realized the limitations of her own casting ability and energy system, thus understanding what the so-called ’Elf Sage’ truly entailed.

Also, during the time when she temporarily lost her magic, her research in the purely theoretical realm made significant progress.

Lann was even more rewarded.

Through the dissection of the Fog Nest Master Terror Dragon, he gained knowledge of two super organs, a new alchemy formula, and a set of new armor infused with the technical wisdom of top blacksmiths from two worlds.

The magical creatures of this world are like moving treasures; as long as they are defeated, and one possesses sufficient wisdom and knowledge to study them.

The brilliance of these treasures will manifest.

Referring to the ’blue light spots’ Lann mentioned, this matter might involve the world’s so-called [Taboo].

Therefore, even the Commander-in-Chief, who laid the foundation for the New Continent Expedition Team, exercised caution and conservatism in this regard.

He hoped to commence a comprehensive investigation into the ’invisible blue light’ after receiving material and intelligence support from the Old Continent’s Hunter’s Guild headquarters and when Lann, who could truly see that light, was present.

”Boom!”

The wind roared due to the difference in air pressure.

But it quickly calmed down.

As the waters of Vizima Lake splashed, several individuals who had just returned from the New Continent each took a breath, easing the discomfort brought on by passing through the Celestial Sphere Convergence Rift.

Among them, Tishaya, accustomed to using portals for urgent matters as a daily routine mage, was the first to recover.

The Female Warlock adjusted the not-so-small neckline of her dress, re-entering a world charged with Chaos Magic.

And according to her instincts honed over hundreds of years, she began automatically absorbing Chaos Magic from the environment, transforming it through her mutated internal organs into her own magic power.

The silver wolf and bear head necklaces on the chests of the two Demon Hunters present had not yet settled from the vibrations caused by the gradually closing Celestial Sphere Convergence Rift when another tremor, as if they were about to leap away, occurred.

This was due to the large void in Chaos Magic within Tishaya’s body, which spontaneously began absorbing, creating a regional magic concentration point.

Standing there, Belengar even felt his ability to cast Magic Seals was a bit stronger.

Just like resting beside the Place of Magic.

Chaos Magic was concentrated, but fortunately, Rong Buqiu and Qilin had long been under the care of the Lady of the Lake, so they would not be affected by this dangerous force.

So the small cat merely shook off the water droplets on its new helmet and Qilin was entirely unfazed.

”Won’t the Lady of the Lake come to take a look?” Belengar said as he waded towards the shore of Black Seagull Island, ”You said she’s responsible for overseeing this rift.”

”Our journey lacks uncertainty and won’t connect to unknown worlds, so there’s no need,” Lann explained to him.

He also lifted his foot in the lake, his leather boots with bone-white dragon scales on the outside had excellent waterproofing, showing no signs of water penetration when he moved.

Since the Lady of the Lake was absent, neither Belengar nor Tishaya had the inclination to stay.

Belengar felt a bit of reverence, while Tishaya was very curious about the Lady of the Lake, as it related to her previous academic research.
