Bear School Astartes

”Ah...” Watching the Flame King Dragon fly away overhead without a sound, Lann was amazed and mused, ”Because he got carried away eating gunpowder, he got a harsh lesson from his wife.”

”Got a harsh lesson from his wife, meow~”

Rong Buqiu also looked up and absent-mindedly agreed.

Then, the person and the cat simultaneously shook their heads, putting aside the jumbled thoughts in their minds.

In the center of the arena’s sunken terrain, the Flame Princess Dragon lowered its body, assuming a fighting stance, and approached Wende with bared teeth.

Immediately, Lann and Rong Buqiu stopped cautiously hiding.

Together, they pressed down on the trigger lever of the [Dragon Strike Spear], quickly moving the sturdy, thigh-thick rod.

”Boom,” the sound of the large machinery operating under the rocks started to resonate.

Soon, from the vertical rock walls in the arena’s sunken terrain, a metallic friction sound began to emerge from two dark holes.

The Flame Princess Dragon, which had been watching Wende’s direction, completely didn’t expect these sounds to suddenly come from its side.

It tried to make a move to resist the unknown danger, but having lost the initiative in the hunters’ design, it was completely too late.

Two large metal spears suddenly shot out from the holes!

Each spear had a cross-section diameter over two meters, appearing as steel columns towering over a human’s head!

Even while launching out, sparks were generated from the friction at the spearhead.

The world’s excellent monster materials and material performance made it possible for the hunters to launch such exaggerated weapons with today’s technology level.

The length of the [Dragon Strike Spear] spanned the center of the arena’s sunken terrain, piercing into the opposite rock wall.

The hard rock was easily shattered and mashed.

Ultimately, the two [Dragon Strike Spears] were retracted by the mechanical device, but the ejection mechanism inside was ultimately single-use, unable to launch again before a replacement.

The [Dragon Strike Spear] was once planned to be transported overseas by the Hunter’s Guild as a gigantic weapon to intercept the Molten Mountain Dragon, its strength is imaginable.

But an ancient dragon is still an ancient dragon.

The Flame Princess Dragon tilted its body slightly at the last moment, avoiding its side being hit directly by the [Dragon Strike Spear].

The thick steel spearhead grazed past its bluish-purple scale armor.

Carrying a teeth-grinding friction sound and a string of glaring sparks.

”Roar!!!”

The sudden pain and panic from the ambush only made the Flame Princess Dragon, in its mating season, even more furious!

The impact from the [Dragon Strike Spear], even though not perpendicular, still made the Flame Princess Dragon suddenly be knocked away.

The sensation of being knocked back was akin to a pedestrian on the road being hit by a speeding truck.

However, the toughness and vitality of an ancient dragon’s flesh is completely incomparable to ordinary humans.

In a rage-filled roar, the Flame Princess Dragon was almost knocked back, smashed the rock wall, was deeply embedded, and didn’t even have time to catch its breath.

Its strong limbs suddenly trampled on the rock wall it had shattered, charging back along the path it was knocked away!

Blue-purple flames surged on its body! With a grim determination like a queen in a fury, ready to personally execute!

Despite the departure of a Sun Flame Dragon, due to the Flame Princess Dragon’s fire with its smoldering and sticky traits, the environmental temperature was even higher!

Yet, regardless of whether it’s Lann or Wende, they were thankful at this moment for the Flame Princess Dragon driving its partner out of the arena with its ’big womanism.’

Because the difficulty of simultaneously fighting multiple ancient dragons is nowhere near the same as fighting a single ancient dragon.

Even for the two hunters present who have battle records of facing ancient dragons squarely.

And now, the hunters only felt that the battlefield with one remaining Flame Princess Dragon had returned to the expected rhythm.

”That means it’s damn time for the Dual Blade Hero to show up!”

Entering the intense combat state, Wende immediately revealed his foul-mouthed nature.

Under the helmet like an ominous Fog Nest Master iron bucket, a muffled war cry was heard.

At the same time, the weapon that he had cautiously carried on his back to avoid drawing ancient dragons’ hostility was now in his hand.

[Ice Chain Sword].

A superb weapon crafted from hunting the Wind Drifted Dragon, acquiring fine scales, sharp claws, and ice bags from its body, combining a [Dragon Jade] and a bottle of [Ancient Dragon’s Blood].

The chain sword utilizes the crafting house’s chainsaw technology, and due to the Wind Drifted Dragon materials, gained an Ice Attribute.

Every cut on the monster’s life-filled flesh revitalizes the materials on the dual blades and releases a special freezing gas capable of rapidly completing freezing and evaporation processes, thereby carrying away the prey’s body temperature.

Wende first reversed the dual blades like daggers, then raised them overhead, posing a cross-blade stance.

As he finished posing, his body suddenly emitted a burst of Fighting Spirit explosion’s movement.

”Boom,” his whole body was enveloped in a light red particle effect.

[Dual Blade Technique: Ghost Transformation]!

This is a combat technique trading continuous physical exhaustion for super mobility and reaction capability.

Only hunters using dual blades can perform powerful moves seeming to defy physical laws under this state.

For example...

”Wait, meow!”

Gaffi completely understands Wende’s nature, so as soon as he entered the [Ghost Transformation], he had already stretched out his small paw, like a forlorn wife trying to stop him.

But the two of them are indeed old partners who have ventured through the Old Continent.

Before Gaffi could finish speaking, Wende had already responded.

”This position...how could we wait?!!!”

Wende, wearing the Fog Nest Master outfit, looked like a burly wrestler whose profession was violence. He held the [Ice Chain Sword] downwards, and the menacing armor on his body emitted a mild red Fighting Spirit Light Flame.

Then he faced the charging Flame Princess Dragon head-on, leaping straight forward from the edge of the high platform without dodging!

The enraged Flame Princess Dragon, its eyes suddenly became even more dangerous.

Its rapidly charging body suddenly flapped its wings, coming to a halt in mid-air.

And giving up the intention of melee attacking, instead, from its wide-open mouth, the strange blue-violet flame was gathering at its throat!

The wisdom of the Ancient Dragon made it adopt a cautious extermination attitude towards this tiny creature daring to pounce head-on.

But this was precisely the effect Wende wanted to achieve!

The Hunter jumping off the high platform, the Fighting Spirit Light Flame on his body erupting vibrantly in an instant!

His arms holding the dual swords opened wide, and his body began rotating in mid-air.

Remarkable waist and abdominal strength, unexpectedly enabling him to soar even higher! Right above the Flame Princess Dragon which was preparing to breathe fire!

[Dual Blade Technique: Aerial Ghost Dance]!

Wende, with arms widely swinging the swords while rotating, looked just like a sharp-edged windmill.

He rotated, first making contact with the Flame Princess Dragon’s head where the flames were accumulating.

Starting from the majestic and imposing blue crown horns.

”Zzzt zzt la la,” the sound of slicing never ceased.

With the super-high speed and reflexes brought by [Ghost Transformation], along with his outstanding technique, allowing Dual Blade Hunters to employ moves beyond common sense.

—Using their twisting bodies wielding dual blades as blade wheels, to rapidly ’roll over’ from head to tail or tail to head on their prey’s back.

Grasping the vertebral direction on the prey’s spine, finding hard bone points on the flexible dorsal muscles to use for leverage.

Then relying solely on the counter-force from slicing to keep the spinning slashing action continuous.

Using the inertia of the movement itself to significantly exceed the normal attack frequency.

This is the most exhilarating moment for Dual Blade Hunters!

Also the most exacting technique regarding timing and skill, and the prediction of the prey’s movements.

Self-mockingly called ’Dual Blade Back Scrubbing’ by the hunters themselves.

And Wende’s level ensures he basically never fails.

The shallow red Fighting Spirit Light Flame on the [Ice Chain Sword], in the process of spinning and slicing, left one dense shadow of the blade on the back of the Flame Princess Dragon.

Accompanied by the ’Zzzt zzt la la’ blade-slicing sound, those shadows left by the excessively fast rotation and dense attack, the originally shallow red not-so-bright Fighting Spirit Light Flame, when aggregated, the brightness even appeared somewhat dazzling!

”Roar!!!”

The Flame Princess Dragon, originally accumulating flames in its throat, suddenly halted the blue-violet firelight inside its throat and emitted a painful and abrupt roar.

Its majestic blue mane from the crown to the tip of its tail, in an instant was scraped completely by the blade wheel Wende turned into!

Its body could endure the impact of a [Dragon Buster], but hunters’ attacks and the purely physical impact of a [Dragon Buster] were somewhat different.

Hunters’ weapons and movements typically integrate their Fighting Spirit, this process of enhancing physical and qi strength, releasing it as power.

This penetrating effect on the monster’s flesh is far beyond simple mechanical impact.

This is a specialized technique developed since the inception of the hunter profession, aimed at the world’s monsters with their powerful Life Force.

And continues to develop with the evolution of the hunter’s profession.

Additionally, Wende’s weapon was specifically an Ice Attribute Dual Blades against the Sun Flame Dragon.

Therefore, the Flame Princess Dragon suffering concentrated damage in a short time, its body temperature immediately slightly dropped, and felt pain from its spine, resulting in a cry of pain.

But for the vast Life Force of an Ancient Dragon, such damage could only be described as ’sudden’.

Slashing from the Flame Princess Dragon’s crown to the tip of its tail.

Then smoothly landed from mid-air.

Wende instantly felt invigorated.

But simultaneously, just having overcome the urge to dash forward by friction from his boots on the ground, Wende immediately sank his body weight and used a hand pressing against the ground with the dual blades to burst sideways!

The next moment...

”Whew~!”

A blue-violet flame along his original straight trajectory burned out a road that turned the rocks into molten lava.
