Bear School Astartes

[Belisarius Furnace].

This super organ is named after the pioneer of the Primaris surgeries—the Great Sage of the Mechanical Cult, Belisarius Kao.

Just from the name alone, it reflects Belisarius Kao’s confidence and attention to this organ he created.

Ever since the Emperor of humankind completed the framework for the interstellar warriors’ surgeries, in a massive Interstellar Empire with trillions of humans.

No one for thousands or even tens of thousands of years has been qualified to criticize or modify this surgical process.

Even if there are many ignorant people attempting to improve it, the end result is often a bunch of deformed monsters.

Or they enhance one aspect only to introduce more weaknesses and defects, making the warriors not worthwhile at all.

Belisarius Kao is the only one in this ten thousand years of history who has improved the enhancement surgery process for interstellar warriors, and whose improved process was recognized and widely adopted by the Empire.

This wisdom and knowledge are unparalleled.

Even a fragment of his memory might be more valuable than the combined GDP of humanity before the year 2000 AD.

The [Tendon Coil] is just a nanomechanical device.

The [Holy Chant Gland] seems to be part of an ancient and powerful organ unearthed by Belisarius Kao from the Emperor’s old research records.

Kao does not particularly emphasize these two super organs, and for the other, he feels there’s not much room for his involvement, nor does he desire to claim this wisdom under his name.

Only [Belisarius Furnace].

Within a Primaris Space Marine, this super organ is known as the ’Resurrector’.

Normally, the [Belisarius Furnace] does not activate, but when the host is injured or mentally stimulated, this super organ secretes a self-produced chemical substance.

This chemical greatly alleviates pain and grants the ability for rapid regeneration.

Once the wound is healed to a certain extent, the [Belisarius Furnace] will re-enter a low-power state, and begin replenishing the organ’s reserves of this special chemical substance through the Primaris Space Marine’s daily nutritional intake.

It sounds somewhat similar to a Demon Hunter’s magic potion.

However, this super organ can dramatically increase the survival rate of interstellar warriors in star-level battles.

Moreover, once implanted in the body, this organ is essentially in a perpetual active state.

For instance, Lann, just now due to his excessive grip strength, rubbed off a layer of skin and meat from the palm of his hand.

For a fully-formed Primaris Space Marine, typically within a few years after surgery, the rapid regeneration ability of the [Belisarius Furnace] supports them to the extent that their outer skin is tough enough to withstand their own surging strength.

The skin is constantly damaged during bodily movements, then rapidly regenerates, eventually forming a callus-like damage-resistant structure.

In other words, a Primaris Space Marine is practically covered head-to-toe in thick calluses that normal knives cannot even scratch.

”The structure of the [Belisarius Furnace] is completely biological, making it easy to cultivate with crystals.”

While cautiously twisting his neck and moving his shoulders to adapt to his surging strength, Lann muttered to himself.

”Yes, sir,” Mentos mobilized Lann’s knowledge, projecting a three-dimensional model of the super organ onto his retina.

”The [Belisarius Furnace] is merely structurally complex. But it still cannot surpass the [Holy Chant Gland]. Yet, due to its ability to self-produce the special compound, the expected production time will be lengthy.”

”Rapid regeneration...”

Lann chewed over this term.

Unparalleled survival capability, powerful recovery ability, this is almost a strength every combatant dreams of.

Meanwhile, a fierce and menacing, dragon-like image flashed through the Demon Hunter’s mind.

Extinct Dragon, an Ancient Dragon of the New Continent with rapid regeneration abilities.

Its regenerative capacity is even far more exaggerated than a fully-formed Primaris Space Marine, as if it embodies irrational ’magic’.

Lann’s hand unconsciously reached behind to the alchemy pouch, grasping the hilt wrapped in Extinct Dragon Hide.

”If the technology behind the [Belisarius Furnace] could be fused with the secret of the Extinct Dragon’s rapid regeneration...”

”But I must remind you, sir.”

Lann’s speculations and projections were transmitted to Mentos along with his brain activity. Meanwhile, the bio-intelligent brain calmly stepped on the brakes of this thrilling outlook.

”Although there is a decent chance of your idea being realized, the Extinct Dragon’s [Regeneration Shell] and [Jade] are on your sword, and can be observed and analyzed at any time.”

”However, we have yet to get a handle on releasing and controlling the two spells, [Alzus Cross] and [Alzur’s Multiple Triangles], in an alchemical manner.”

”The [Alzus Cross] is the most promising method we’ve found to integrate the traits of super organs. Until this spell can be controlled by us in an alchemical form, I do not recommend hastily beginning the modification work on super organs.”

”...Yes, you’re right. I was too hasty.”

Lann initially intended to rub his face, hoping to clear his mind of the pain from the Tendon Coil drilling into his muscles and nerves.

But before his hand could touch his face, he stopped.

If he instinctively rubbed it down, his face would probably end up with blood marks.

Lann looked at the palm of his hand after it had healed, and shook his head.

”Better first make the standard version of the Belisarius Furnace, otherwise it’s just stupid to end up hurting myself.”

Lann actually wanted to achieve perfection in one go.

Since he had the Extinct Dragon’s Regeneration Shell and Jade as research materials in hand, why not make his super organ more ”beautiful and powerful”?

However, his reason and mind rejected this impulse to pursue perfection.

The entire improvement and conception process for the Interstellar Warrior surgery was built on knowledge he personally collected.

He was well aware of the extent to which he could apply this knowledge, and he understood his level of proficiency.

This conceptual system was established by him and perfected by Mentos calculations. No one could understand it better than him.

It was precisely this self-awareness that allowed him to clearly recognize: he wasn’t up to the mark yet.

”Establish task: Calculate the Magic Power movement required to cultivate the Belisarius Furnace in the crystal cultivation experiment.”

Having quelled his impulse for perfection, Lann calmly issued orders to Mentos. The biological brain immediately responded.

”Task established, allocating computing power for calculation...”

This time at Airetusa, Lann prepared to directly implant two super organs.

The power increase from the Tendon Coil was too strong. Without the Belisarius Furnace as a safety net, he estimated he would need to drink Magic Potions like a beverage to prevent himself from constantly appearing battered and bruised.

In actuality, although Lann had only managed to create a super organ every so often up till now,

this was primarily due to the limitations of technical development. The major technical breakthrough in the crystal cultivation project was made by him a few years ago.

This project and technology were overly young.

And as his biochemical knowledge deepened, his talents were further brought out, allowing the subsequent construction and implantation of super organs in the surgical process to become increasingly rapid.

-----------------

Thus, a day later, Philixia had just completed the experiment records and archiving for a new breakthrough in crystal cultivation technology from the previous day under the ”nurturing” of the former dean.

Immediately after, she was recruited by Lann to lend a hand once again.

Regarding the cultivation of the Belisarius Furnace, although the technical complexity of the organ itself far surpassed that of the Tendon Coil, the technical requirements for the crystal cultivation project were not as high.

After all, one involves the combination of inorganic and organic matter, while the other is purely biological tissue construction, aligned with crystal cultivation technology, professionally aligned.

Thus, there was no need to trouble a Great Mage of Tishaya’s caliber to be the supplier of Chaos Magic Power.

A Female Sorcerer Apprentice like Philixia was sufficient to maintain the normal operation of the experiment.

The previous Holy Chant Gland was autonomously completed by this apprentice after Lann set the parameters.

This powerful super organ, also known as the ”Resurrector,” looked similar to a Genetic Seed, a fleshy sphere with many blood vessel interfaces.

Under Philixia’s Magic Power infusion, it grew for two entire days until it finally took shape.

After passing product inspection by Mentos and Lann, it was confirmed to fully meet the implantation standards.

On the same day, Lann performed a new round of implantation surgery.

The Belisarius Furnace needed to be connected between the two hearts, where the nutrients carried by the blood circulating through the cardiovascular system would be absorbed by the super organ as materials and energy for synthesizing that unique compound.

Operating on the cardiovascular system was something Lann had already done in his first surgery.

So although the process was still excruciatingly painful and perilous, he still completed it methodically.

Once the fleshy mass was connected between the two hearts in the chest cavity, the massive opening exposing the ribbed bone plates on Lann’s chest began to heal at a visibly rapid pace.

No Magic Potions, purely self-healing power.

As the opening quickly healed, the surgical field of view shrank, and Lann had to hastily conclude the surgical process, not even having time to rearrange his thoracic blood vessels neatly.

Although blood vessels and intestines tend to automatically return to their proper positions during physiological activity as long as they are not severely displaced,

Lann still felt somewhat discomforted by not perfectly concluding the surgery.

After the Belisarius Furnace started working, Lann experimentally drank the Advanced Swallow.

He wanted to see if there would be any changes between the super-rapid regeneration of a Primaris Space Marine and the magic potions of a Demon Hunter.
