Bear School Astartes

”My brother is devoted to pursuing the Path of the Ancient Dragon, believing that passing on the flame is merely a temporary solution.”

Watching the Nameless King and the Storm Dragon leave, Gwendolin suddenly said softly while sitting in a chair.

”This is also the huge rift between my brother and our father.”

”At that time, the Ancient Dragon War had just been won, and as the eldest son of the Sun King, he suddenly spoke of wanting to learn from the Ancient Dragons we had defeated and wiped out, proclaiming that the thriving Fire Age would eventually fade away... This caused a huge uproar.”

”Who would believe such alarmist words at that time?”

”But now... ”

Gwendolin looked dazedly ahead.

Now Ilyushil only has the Silver Knights, dragging around the many creatures modified by the Pontiff, clearing the streets.

The dreadful monster corpses left thick and glaring bloodstains on the once snowy but not dirty stone roads.

”There is still hope now.”

Lann interrupted Gwendolin’s defeated murmuring, saying to him.

”Losric has awakened the ashen heroes, and even before the ash embarks on the Hunting King’s journey, one of the Lords of Cinder, Elderidge, has already handed over his ’kindling.’”

”You’ve already worked very hard, Dark Moon God.”

Lann’s words prompted Gwendolin to remain silent for a while, then suddenly smile.

”Your words... truly soothe my heart. I... am deeply grateful. Not just for these words, but for your contributions.”

”I’ll take it as a compliment.”

The Demon Hunter raised his eyebrows.

Lann was in a good mood now; the clash with Elderidge had released his pent-up frustration.

Following Elderidge’s death, the darkness inside him also disappeared, the long-missed feeling of lightness brought about a good mood.

So even in this gloomy world, he could finally say a few light-hearted words.

Ilyushil was severely damaged, and the ruins of Yanorlund behind were directly turned into ’dangerous buildings’ by the Nameless King.

So under Gwendolin’s orders, the Silver Knights began organizing the few remaining structures in Ilyushil.

After all, not only Gwendolin and You’Er Xia need to reside here now, Rosalie, or rather the Sun Princess, will also be coming here.

Though Gwendolin thought his sister might not be so concerned about environmental issues, he still wanted to make some efforts to tidy up.

Simo, who suffered frostbite from the cold weapons of the Pontiff’s Warrior Knights, and the giant blacksmith who had a broken leg, were placed together to recover.

Despite Ilyushil’s virtual demise now, Gwendolin still made every effort to save the wounded.

The Power of Soul of the warriors in this world enables them to maintain operational combat effectiveness even with fatal injuries, but it does not facilitate healing.

And the Dark Moon Magic, which Gwendolin and the Dark Moon Sect excel at, is evidently also not proficient in this aspect.

Simo was given a golden hollow ring, which according to Gwendolin, was a ring left by the Sun Princess in Yanorlund.

Wearing it brings a slight warmth like basking in sunlight and helps to heal the wounds of the body and soul.

Before the Sun Princess returns to Ilyushil, this ring can preserve the life of this executioner of the Sun Royal Family.

And for the other giant with a broken leg, Lann came over to prepare to treat him.

”Your calf was eaten, did the Shadow Sun amputate it on the battlefield?”

Lann tapped on the broken part of the giant’s leg while inquiring about his injuries.

As a slave blacksmith, the giant, with his iron mask, gently nodded his head, the iron chain on his body swayed and made a soft sound.

”Then you ended up with a huge open wound on the battlefield ravaged by Elderidge... Tsk.”

Lann used Mentos’ projection on his retina to estimate the size of the wound.

”To be safe, I need to amputate a little more.”

”Do it, then.” The giant’s gruff voice came from under the iron mask.

Unlike the brainless giants in the Profound Church, this giant clearly retained his sanity.

Quite reasonable, even.

”You saved me. Friend.”

”That’s right, and I’ll save you once more.” Lann said as he prepared to start the surgery.

The characteristics of the Power of Soul made amputation surgery very simple.

The Power of Soul can completely inhibit the deterioration of the injury, as long as measures are not particularly added to create sustained damage.

During the surgery, it’s merely a matter of controlling the Power of Soul to not cover the limb that is to be amputated.

Due to the giant’s size, Lann used the Lady of the Lake’s Sword as a scalpel; with a crisp and swift motion.

The giant roared in pain, but immediately clenched his teeth to endure it.

And Lann quickly started to stop the bleeding and bandage the wound.

There’s hardly anyone left alive in Ilyushil; Lann didn’t want to lose another.

The giant leaned his upper body against the wall of the room, Simo’s size allowed him to find a big bed, but the giant could only make do with something laid on the ground.

”You’re a blacksmith.” Lann said while bandaging him, attempting to distract him from his pain with words. ”This injury is serious, but it shouldn’t affect your work, right?”

”Of course, not.” The giant replied to Lann while his body tightened and relaxed in reflexive twitching under the nervous system’s response, but he gritted his teeth nonetheless.

He knew this was the Demon Hunter’s goodwill.

”A leg’s fine. I’ve been, in Yanorlund, for tens of thousands of years. Haven’t taken, many steps.”

The giant stammered as he spoke.

In the meantime, Lann finally managed to bandage the giant’s thigh, which was the size of a table.

With his knowledge and skill in biochemistry, he was top-notch even as a physician.

”Th-thank you.”

The giant said weakly.

”I want to thank you. I am a blacksmith.”

The giant’s words were somewhat unclear, but luckily, with Lann’s comprehension ability, he could still understand.

”Do you want to thank me with your craftsmanship?” Lann smiled, wiping the blood from his hands and the bloody hilt of the Aron Dite Blade, as he spoke.

”Alright, I actually have some materials saved up, but I haven’t seen a suitable blacksmith yet.”

Wedge Stone and Metamorphic Wedge Stone, unique reinforcement materials in this world.

Lann had gathered some, yet hadn’t had the time to witness the craftsmanship of the blacksmiths of this world.

In retrospect, he had only seen two blacksmiths from this world.

One was at the Fire Transmission Altar, but he was in such a hurry that he didn’t even have time for a brief chat.

Then there was this giant blacksmith who had been in Yanorlund for over ten thousand years.

Over ten thousand years... in terms of time, he was indeed a character from the Mythical Era.

Sure enough, the giant perked up after hearing Lann’s response.

”Don’t worry, my friend.” He said slowly, his voice loud and resonant.

”I have forged weapons for countless beings of the Divine Race. I am the blacksmith of the Divine Beings.”

”Even for the first Undead to inherit the flames, his Two-Handed Greatsword was also strengthened by me.”

The giant blacksmith seemed to notice that Lann did not plan to stay long in Ilyushil after completing his task.

Thus, he used the Power of Soul to suppress the adverse effects of the amputation surgery, and hours later, he was ready with his hammer and anvil.

His massive body had to coil up in front of the man-high anvil to match the height.

Lann displayed his reserves to him.

Including several pieces of Wedge Stone, a blessing gemstone, and a Wedge Stone disc.

He did not know how the craftsmanship of this world utilized these materials, so he planned to let the professionals handle it.

The primary ability of the blessing gemstone was that as long as it was worn, it constantly provided healing akin to a tiny miracle.

Therefore, Lann planned to use this gemstone on something small and convenient to carry.

The blocking dagger obtained from Krinshid, the ”Crystal Daughter,” was a good choice.

The giant blacksmith was the Divine Beings’ blacksmith, and his craftsmanship was impeccable, even incomprehensible to Lann.

He only took the blocking dagger, tapping it with the hammer and blessing gemstone, without even lighting a furnace, just using a square stone box. Upon opening the lid, it emitted faint light, flickered over the anvil.

Then it was done.

He also took out a heap of small blacksmith tools and used his large hand with disproportionate precision to further adjust the small blocking dagger.

The entire length of this dagger might not even match the thickness of his fingernail.

Yet when the giant blacksmith handed the ”Blessed Blocking Dagger” to Lann, the Demon Hunter’s eyes narrowed slightly.

”Are you not, satisfied?”

The giant asked somewhat puzzled, but Lann’s slightly narrowed eyes quickly reverted, smiling.

”No, the craftsmanship is excellent; I just thought of something else.”

The blocking dagger was rewrapped on the handle with a leather anti-slip band by the giant blacksmith, and its sword guard was slightly adjusted, finally altering its appearance slightly.

The modification made Lann feel familiar.

He had once seen this dagger at the waist of adult Ciri during a chance encounter.

The dagger transformed by the blessing gemstone spun gorgeously in Lann’s hand before being returned to its sheath.

The Demon Hunter’s face bore a smile holding enigmatic meanings.

Ancient Blood, ruler of time and space...

This dagger just appeared and was forged before my eyes.

Yet I knew months ago to whom it would be given.

How interesting.

”What will you work on, next?”

The giant asked slowly.

Lann shrugged off thoughts of time.

He drew the Lady of the Lake’s Sword with one hand and held the hilt of Muddy Stream·Destruction with the other.

”Can I get a suggestion? These are my primary weapons.”

The giant’s already coiled body behind the anvil compressed more tightly as he stretched his head towards Lann, observing the Demon Hunter’s main armaments through an iron mask.

”Hmm, quite curious.”

The giant said softly, though even softly, it resounded like a normal person’s shout.

”They are both made from curious, materials. And curious, craftsmanship. Interesting.”

He seemed a bit indecisive too, but soon, he provided Lann with professional advice.
