Bear School Astartes

”’He relishes capturing genies, and because of this, he possesses endless magical power. Once, he uttered an incantation and moved a mountain simply because it blocked his view of the sunset from the Mage Tower.’”

Tishaya suddenly recited a description from a book.

”Do you remember this passage, Rita?”

Margaret didn’t understand why Tishaya could shift the topic from ’Lann having some sort of divine power of a sunlight nature’ to reading comprehension.

However, solid foundational knowledge allowed the current Dean of Airetusa to easily respond to the question.

At this moment, it was already bedtime for Airetusa’s students, so in this luxurious and deep corridor, the lights were dimmed under the adjustment of magic, allowing the previously concealed moonlight to slant down through a large window on one side of the wall.

The long, magnificent corridor only had Margaret and Tishaya left.

”This is a description of Geoffrey Monk. He was one of the first humans to land and wield magical power. He was also one of the founders of the original mage governing body—the Novigrad Alliance.”

Margaret rigorously recited the book’s discourse, confident she had done so word for word.

But it was apparent that Tishaya’s impromptu test wasn’t intended to assess Margaret’s memory.

”So, how would you define this passage?”

Tishaya asked, still calmly and leisurely.

”What do you mean, define?”

”I mean, is this passage an exaggeration? Or is it an embellishment while narrating? Or is it simply and austerely stating the truth?”

Margaret still couldn’t grasp Tishaya’s intent at this time, so she could only cautiously answer.

”I think... it should be an exaggerated description based on partial truths?”

Margaret emphasized the word ”partial.”

Tishaya silently shook her head, making Margaret realize she had probably answered incorrectly.

But exactly where she went wrong, she still couldn’t understand.

”It seems besides thanking Lann for his contributions to Airetusa and for looking after you, I should thank him for one more thing...”

Tishaya, after shaking her head, looked at her student with a hint of inexplicable meaning.

”He made me realize my shortcomings in education.”

”What?”

Margaret’s bewildered question prompted Tishaya to continue speaking.

”Because our generation of warlocks personally experienced those grand scenes and met those powerful figures and their abilities, we naturally recorded them.”

”Then we complacently assumed that our successors would gain the same understanding through those records... In hindsight, that was incredibly negligent and arrogant.”

”And after Lann brought about that sunlight divine power, your performance made me awaken from this negligence.”

”Haven’t I rarely mentioned those stories about ancient wizards to you all?”

”Wait!”

Margaret was ultimately the most talented student in Tishaya’s career. Through snippets of conversation, she vaguely grasped what her teacher was hinting at.

But precisely because she understood, she was uncontrollably wide-eyed and full of disbelief.

”Tishaya, you can’t mean...”

”Yes, exactly what I mean. Speak it out, Rita.”

Margaret opened her mouth, and Tishaya, expressionless, encouraged, or rather forced her, to voice her speculation.

”You can’t mean...,” Margaret gulped with difficulty, ”that description is... true!?”

”Not only is it true.” Tishaya glanced sideways at Margaret.

”In fact, due to the compiler’s rigor, this description is an understatement.”

”The statement that Geoffrey Monk enjoyed capturing genies is brief, but in reality... he imprisoned up to a dozen genies in a magic bottle.”

Warlocks need to rely on manipulating chaos magic, but this power inherently comes with traits of promoting distortion, rage, and being hard to control.

So warlocks need to convert the chaos magic from outside through special organs in their bodies before they can use it freely.

This is also why female warlocks mostly lose the ability to bear children, as their reproductive organs have been distorted by chaos magic.

And the [genie] is an intelligent life born in the air interface among the elemental worlds of earth, water, air, and fire.

These interfaces lie in the depths of the world and are part of the world’s makeup.

If Lann wished, he could use [spiritual vision] to observe the four elemental interfaces just like observing the Lady of the Lake’s body.

But he isn’t a wizard who studies magic, so he neither needs to nor has he done so.

The creatures naturally born from these interfaces can freely harness chaos magic without the necessity for transformation as humans do.

This means genies can practically use this inexhaustible chaos magic to accomplish anything, turning them into the archetype of ’genies in lamps’ in fairy tales.

Wizards who possess or enslave genies can directly extract magic power from them, achieving relatively ’endless magic power.’

The chaos magic from nature is available for use as desired.

”Geoffrey Monk, who mastered and enslaved over a dozen genies, genuinely moved a mountain just to enjoy the view. Moreover, each genie, like in the stories, could grant him three wishes.”

”All of this is genuine.”

Tishaya said while shaking her head.

”I only just realized now, you new generation of wizards, you don’t all take these descriptions as us reciting poetry or crafting myths, do you?”

”Look at your disregard for the Sunlight Divine Power... Even when you’ve personally confirmed the existence of the Lady of the Lake.”

”Those wizards who have never seen divine beings, or even clergy performing magic, their insights might be narrow beyond my imagination.”

In the eyes of the older generation of wizards, these things are as obvious as common sense and facts.

A powerful wizard can achieve these things, and the casting abilities of clergy are indeed different from wizards.

These matters don’t even need to be emphasized.

Moreover, it’s not like they’re undocumented; quite a few books have been written.

Jan Becker’s stories, Geoffrey Monk’s stories... they are continually spreading.

But the new generation of warlocks... they generally think the poems in the books are quite imaginative.

The strongest expression of power they can accept among warlocks might just be Alzur summoning the Saliva Demon to crush half of Maribo.

However, even Alzur’s teacher, Cosimo Malaspina, was considered a ’young man’ in front of warlocks of Tishaya’s generation.

Tishaya’s book ”About Another Type of Caster Outside of Warlocks” caused some ripples in the still modest circle of warlocks.

Because even if the warlocks of the time didn’t verify whether divine beings truly existed, they acknowledged the distinct casting abilities of clergy.

And if Tishaya were to move the publication of this book to the present... it might negatively affect her academic reputation.

Just look at Margaret; this great-grandmother once studied as Tishaya’s apprentice, and now she has become the powerful female warlock and new Dean of Airetusa.

She is considered to have a wizarding family and exceptional talent.

Yet now she also appears with an expression of a worldview being updated.

Those real powers and real stories, after the passage of time and worldly changes, turn into things people today see as either real or fake.

”He faced divine beings on the other side of the celestial intersection, Rita.”

Tishaya’s fingertips once again released that hint of golden light.

”If it weren’t for my presence today, you wouldn’t even be able to sense this Sunlight Divine Power.”

Margaret pressed her lips together and lowered her head.

And immediately, Tishaya relentlessly moved her glowing fingertip in front of Margaret’s eyes.

”Moreover, the problematic part isn’t just this Sunlight Divine Power, but the location of the Divine Power, Rita.”

Tishaya’s red lips approached the student’s ear.

The warm breath with the scent of Aphrodisia wine exhaled on Margaret’s rounded earlobe.

”He has a kiss mark on his face bearing this Divine Power. You understand what this means, right...”

Margaret, who had been immersed in the shocking feeling of her worldview being reshaped, now looked up in surprise.

”Huh?!”

-----------------

Lann didn’t know why it took Margaret so long just to deliver food to Rong Buqiu.

Logically, the little cat eats quite briskly, after all, it’s accustomed to a warrior’s standards, being an Elu Cat.

Even if Margaret found Rong Buqiu cute and wanted to pet the cat until it finished its meal and then cleaned up, it shouldn’t have taken this long.

But even as Lann emerged from the bath in Margaret’s room, the owner of the room still hadn’t returned.

Eventually, the Demon Hunter was already exhausted and went to bed, half-awake feeling a voluptuous and fervent body wrap around him like a beautiful serpent.

”Hmm?”

The touch gradually became clearer, and the seductive body felt very familiar to him.

”You’re this... fervent today?”

Lann let out a muffled groan in the darkness, along with a question.

But Margaret doesn’t plan to answer him.

The female warlock’s body pressed down, her deep cleavage was enough to suffocate Lann despite their current size difference.

The enchanting and perfectly curved figure, no matter how many times seen, always leaves the Demon Hunter in awe.

The warm breath of the female warlock blew into Lann’s ear canal, and the ambiguous atmosphere grew like the abundant sweat between their gasps.

”Today, Triss isn’t here, don’t you feel regretful?”

Margaret spoke playful words along with her breath.

”After all, she is Temeria’s Royal Advisor, although towards me... she isn’t the kind to slack off when it comes to serious duties.”

Lann chose his words carefully.

But Margaret chuckled lightly.

”Really?”

Her voice was as light as a breath, directly blowing into the Demon Hunter’s heart.

”But I actually feel a bit... regretful.”

”...Huh?!”
