Gravity Mage with Level-Up System

From the MC’s Perspective:

About an hour later, I arrived at Stall No. 35. As I suspected, the two guards were discussing their breaks. One of them was preparing to take a break while the other remained on watch.

My gaze drifted towards the stall. It was medium-sized, slightly larger and wider than the others. The entire stall was covered with a white cloth, and I wondered why it was still under surveillance.

“Were they thinking that the culprit would return?”I thought to myself.

The foreign organ in the hands of council elders was still active, indicating it was a valuable item for the Transmutation Wizard. I doubted he had intentionally left it behind.

As I pondered this, one of the guards walked away to take a breath, while the other closed his eyes for a brief nap.

Seeing this opportunity, I approached the stall. People around me were busy with their affairs, providing me with good cover.

“Who are you?” The guard, suddenly alert, tensed up as he looked at the masked figure in front of him.

“I saw your colleague fighting with someone. Go and help him before it’s too late,” I said quickly.

“Where?” the guard asked as he stood up.

I pointed randomly to the east. Without thinking twice, the guard ran off in that direction. I was momentarily taken aback—did it work?

Crouching down, I slipped into the stall. As soon as I entered, my heightened senses kicked in. I used the system to scan the area.

Rows of antiques sat undisturbed on the shelves, some covered in dust. It seemed no one had come to claim anything since the death of the old man, Sam.

A few seconds later, a mechanical voice chimed in my mind:

[Ding! Detected]

[A trace of foreign organs in that silver box.]

I turned toward the shelves on my left and spotted a small silver box that was free of dust. My eyes gleamed with excitement, and without a second thought, I placed the box into the System Space.

“Check!”

“Where is he?”

“He must be the culprit!”

Voices from outside reached my ears. The guards had returned.

Swoosh! I vanished from my spot and reappeared inside the Gregor Mansion. Moments later, the two guards burst in and began to search the place thoroughly.

“I guess he was a thief who came to steal the antiques. Check if anything is missing,” one of the guards urged.

“You go and report it to the higher-ups. I’ll check if anything is missing,” the other guard replied.

With that, one guard left to inform the authorities while the other began inspecting the shelves, focusing on the more valuable antiques.

Inside the Gregor Mansion, I ignored the commotion outside, concentrating solely on the silver box containing the foreign organs.

I wasn’t sure if this item was linked to the forbidden research lab, but I had heard rumours of talented dark wizards conducting various experiments on Wizard bodies.

I suspected that Transmutation Wizards engaged in similar practices, though their activities were deemed legal by the Mage Union, unlike the forbidden acts of others.

Staring at the box, I questioned whether it would be safe to open it. However, the system had already confirmed that the silver box contained a foreign organ, which was sufficient for my first intel collection mission.

I pondered how they could have overlooked it. Had no one inspected the stall after Sam’s death?

Perhaps I was the first to be ordered to handle the issue. Instead of going through official channels, I was gathering intel as I went along.

After placing the silver box back into the System Space, I entered the control room. I knew if I appeared outside now, I would startle the guards.

When I glanced at the mirror, I saw one of the guards checking the antiques one by one. I took a seat and waited for the situation to develop further.

Outside, shortly afterwards, the other guard arrived with several officials—three high-level wizards from the Verdant City administration department.

“Did you find anything?” one of the officials asked.

The guard shook his head.

The officials exchanged glances, visibly frustrated but unable to take action.

If the culprit was indeed an outsider, it would reflect poorly on them as well, allowing someone to sneak into their city from neutral lands—a dangerous predicament. They could only seek help from their superiors.

They realized that the guards were only high-level wizards, and if the culprit was stronger than them, there would be no blame assigned.

“You all continue to stay here,” one of the officials ordered before leaving.

Their presence had caused quite a stir, but normalcy returned quickly once they departed. As the break ended, new customers began streaming in, while others left the market.

Not long after the officials left, an old man clad in black robes, his face obscured by a scarf, entered the market. Unlike the others, his intent was clear.

Navigating through the crowd, he swiftly arrived at his destination, staring at the two guards standing watch over the stall. An evil glint flashed in his eyes.

The death of the previous stall owner has led to unwanted changes and attracted the attention of the authorities.

He made his way to the stall, and the two guards immediately became alert. However, upon realizing that the person approaching was not the previous culprit, they relaxed.

“Who are you?” one of the guards asked.

“You’ve come to the wrong place. Just go away, you senile old man,” the guard berated. He was still irritated by the official’s anger from earlier and didn’t want to provoke them any further.

The old man’s eyes gleamed with a sinister glint. Something squirmed in his palms as he approached the guards, displaying both of his hands.

The Guards sensed that something was wrong. A feeling of crisis overwhelmed them, leaving them completely frozen in place. They were unable to scream or move. Despite being high-level wizards, they felt as terrified as chickens.
