Gravity Mage with Level-Up System

From MC’s Perspective:

I’m answering all of the staff’s questions, my mind racing as I try to stay calm. My words flow smoothly, but inside, I just want this process to end. The weight of their scrutiny is heavy, and it’s clear now that they don’t take chances with foreigners. Every question feels like a test I can’t afford to fail.

Meanwhile, outside the room, Gloria was tense, shifting uncomfortably. She was trying her best to avoid engaging with the man who had approached her. The man, Don Blaire, a level-8 Wizard, stood tall and imposing, his presence casting a shadow over the courtyard. He waited, expecting something from her, a response perhaps.

“Gloria, why are you not answering?” Don’s voice was sharp, cutting through the silence. His eyes glinted with curiosity and something darker—control.

Gloria, keeping her emotions carefully masked, finally responded. “I came here with someone. I’ll be leaving shortly,” she said, her voice distant, as if speaking through a barrier.

Don, however, wasn’t satisfied. His eyes narrowed as he casually glanced around, his gaze finally resting on the office room where someone was answering the staff’s questions. The corners of his mouth curled slightly, as if a thought had struck him. Without a word, he started walking toward the room.

Gloria’s eyes widened in alarm. “What are you doing?” she asked, her voice trembling with barely restrained panic.

“Nothing, just checking on something,” Don replied with a casual smile, though the intent in his voice was clear. Without waiting for her reaction, he pushed open the door and stepped inside.

Inside the office, I was startled by his sudden appearance. His presence was overwhelming, a mixture of authority and menace. The staff immediately straightened at the sight of him, addressing him with a formal tone.

“Mr. Don, what brings you here?” the staff member asked, clearly wary.

Don ignored the question, his sharp gaze now fixed on me. He studied me with cold, piercing eyes, as if trying to peel back my skin and see whatever secrets I might be hiding.

“Who are you?” he demanded, his voice cold and steady, every word carrying an unspoken threat.

Caught off guard, I hesitated. The tension in the room was thickening, like a storm about to break.

The staff member, sensing the growing hostility, attempted to interject. “Mr. Don, this is just—”

But Don waved him off impatiently, his eyes never leaving me. “I’m talking to you,” he growled. “Why aren’t you answering me?”

The air between us was electric, his unspoken accusation hanging in the space like a blade ready to drop. He was clearly suspicious, and though he hadn’t said it yet, I could feel his true question: What was I doing here with Gloria?

Before I could respond, Gloria burst into the room. “Stop!” she shouted, her voice commanding.

Her eyes darted to me for a moment, a flicker of worry passing over her face before she turned fully toward Don. She knew exactly what he was up to, and whatever it was, she was determined to stop it before it escalated.

I stood there, my eyes darting between Gloria and the man who had just appeared out of nowhere. His sudden presence unsettled me, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that something deeper was at play.

The way he spoke to Gloria—it wasn’t just familiarity; it was possessive, intense. He clearly knew her, and now I had a sinking suspicion about what that connection entailed.

“This person is after Gloria,” I thought to myself, the realization settling uncomfortably in my gut. His piercing gaze, the way he dismissed the staff, and his total disregard for anyone else in the room—it all pointed to a deeper obsession.

The staff, on the other hand, was visibly on edge. He kept nervously glancing between Don and Gloria, clearly aware of their backgrounds.

They were both from influential families, the kind of people who carried weight with their names alone. If this confrontation escalated, it would be a disaster for him. He could lose his job, or worse—be caught in the crossfire of something he had no control over.

“Don, you are crossing the line,” Gloria’s voice cut through the tension. Her tone was sharp, but there was a layer of frustration underneath, as if this wasn’t the first time they’d had this conversation.

Don’s eyes narrowed. He was done with subtlety. “I just want to know who this person is,” he said, his voice hardening as he gestured toward me. He wasn’t asking a casual question anymore; he was making an accusation. His suspicions were clear now—he was convinced that I knew Gloria.

A flicker of anger crossed his face, and it was like watching a storm roll in. The atmosphere grew heavier, darker. “Gloria, you know my intentions. Why are you avoiding me?” Don’s voice was laced with bitterness, the frustration of someone used to getting what they wanted and now finding it just out of reach.

His words hung in the air like a threat. “Now, you’re talking to someone else?” he accused, his voice rising, the tension between them palpable.

Gloria froze, caught off guard. For a moment, she seemed genuinely stunned, as if she hadn’t expected him to go there. Then her expression shifted, and I could see the anger bubbling up inside her. She had known this was coming, but it didn’t make it any easier to face. The situation was spiraling out of control faster than she could manage.

And then it hit me. Everything fell into place with a sudden, uncomfortable clarity. “He’s into her,” I thought, the truth finally dawning on me. The jealousy, the anger—it wasn’t just about me being a stranger in the room. Don felt threatened, and it had nothing to do with business or social standing.

“This is going to be trouble for me,” I muttered silently to myself, my pulse quickening. If this situation exploded, I could get caught in the middle of something personal, something dangerous. And judging by the looks on both their faces, it was about to.

The tension in the room was thick, but the staff, clearly desperate to avoid any further conflict, quickly intervened. “Please, don’t do anything here. This is the administration building,” he said, his voice shaky yet firm.

Don and Gloria froze, their anger momentarily held in check by the reminder of where they were. Despite their powerful backgrounds, they both knew this wasn’t a place where they could throw their weight around. Not here, in a place governed by rules that even they couldn’t ignore.

Don, however, wasn’t finished. His eyes flicked back toward me, his gaze sharp and calculating. “Gloria is protecting you,” he sneered, as if the very idea disgusted him. “But I’ll see where you can run later.” His voice was low, simmering with menace. He took a step closer, his eyes narrowing. “No one can stop me from finding out what I want to know.”

With that ominous promise hanging in the air, Don finally turned and strode out of the room, his presence lingering like a shadow long after he’d left. Gloria let out a quiet sigh of relief, but it was clear from the look on her face that she knew this wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.

After a tense moment, she turned to the staff, her voice calmer but still strained. “What about the ID?” she asked, reminding him of the reason we were here in the first place.

The staff blinked, suddenly snapping back to the task at hand. “Oh, right,” he muttered, clearly flustered from the confrontation. He fumbled with a drawer and quickly retrieved a card, handing it over to me. “Here’s your temporary ID. Once it expires, you can come back to renew it.”

I took the card, feeling the weight of the moment ease slightly. “Thank you,” I said, my voice steady as I nodded to him. Then, without another word, Gloria and I left the room, the tension between us and the door we’d just exited slowly fading.

But as soon as we stepped outside, I spotted him—Don Blaire—standing across the street, waiting. He hadn’t left. Of course, he hadn’t. Now that he had issued his veiled threat, he had to follow through, and the look in his eyes said he was already planning his next move.

He stood there, arms crossed, eyes fixed on us like a predator watching prey. I could feel his anger simmering just below the surface, and though he was silent for now, I knew it wouldn’t last. Whatever he had in mind, he was waiting for the right moment to strike.

And then, with a flick of his wrist, Don summoned his servants. In the distance, I could see shadows moving, figures approaching quickly. My stomach knotted in dread. He wasn’t going to let me just walk away from this. His servants would arrive soon, and once they were here, it would become far more difficult to escape.

Gloria, standing beside me, was tense, though she tried to mask it. She knew what Don was capable of. I could feel her unease radiating off her, and as much as I wanted to keep calm, the looming presence of Don’s growing entourage made it impossible.

This was far from over. If anything, it had only just begun.
