Gravity Mage with Level-Up System

From MC’s Perspective:

Don Blaire’s anger worsened, his gaze sweeping over the small crowd gathered at Stargaze Inn. The news would spread quickly.

He ordered his spies to locate Vincent Carey again, then left with Gerald and Peter for his family estate. The consecutive slaps had worsened his mood.

Before his spies found anything, he needed rest. Gerald and Peter were equally relieved, eager for their young master to return to the Clan and answer to the Clan Head.

Not long after their departure, the crowd gathered in front of the destroyed inn. The inn owner, Sam, knelt before the wreckage, his eyes lifeless.

Seeing him bruised and bloodied, the locals began to comment.

“It’s a pity. Old Sam’s inn was destroyed. He’s completely bedridden now.”

“Yeah, even as a wizard, his mind is deeply hurt. It’ll take a long time to recover.”

“Blaire Clan’s Young Master is lawless. He destroyed an innocent’s business for no reason.”

“Hey, do you want to die? Don’t take Young Master Don’s name like that.”

A collective hiss silenced the crowd. Though they knew the culprit, they dared not accuse him. Their bodies might be found elsewhere.

Old Sam listened silently to their harsh comments. No one offered to help him recover. As wizards, their lives weren’t over, but they needed massive resources for practice. Talented wizards joined organizations, while average ones relied on businesses to earn resources.

As time passed, the nearby people began to leave. Even owners and customers of nearby shops didn’t dare to come forward. They didn’t want to cross paths with one of the six influential families. They could only silently pray for Old Man Sam.

Worse yet, no one from the government had come to investigate. The government was a typical administration formed by the people of the top six families.

Such a delay was normal for them. However, if any young master from another family had witnessed the incident, they might use it to cause trouble for the Blaire Clan.

An hour later, everyone had left. Heavy rain began to pour down. Old Man Sam, drenched in the rain, couldn’t help but think of the person responsible for this. He recalled the name in his mind.

“Vincent Carey,” he muttered in a cold tone.

Though the real culprit was Don Blaire, he lacked the courage to accuse him. He could only vent his anger on the unknown wizard responsible for his inn’s destruction.

On the other hand, I decided to appear outside. I didn’t think it was necessary to hide inside the Gregor Mansion anymore.

Swoosh!

I materialized outside, landing on the ground amidst the debris. Surveying the destruction, I sighed inwardly.

As I walked through the wreckage, I saw a familiar figure kneeling before the inn, his head bowed.

I ignored him and tried to walk past. The inn owner, Sam, was lost in thought. He sensed someone approaching but didn’t pay much attention.

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck his mind. He realized the person who had walked past earlier was the same young man.

“He must be Vincent Carey,” the old man shouted softly.

The next moment, he stood up and turned around to find him. Seeing the person enter the second street, he used his mana to sprint towards him, disregarding his future. He wanted to take the young wizard’s life with his own hands. Discover hidden tales at empire

Perhaps the Blaire Clan’s Young Master would forgive him. He might also receive rewards for presenting Vincent Carey’s head.

Meanwhile, I had just entered the second street to find another hotel. I didn’t want to walk openly before being spotted by the spies.

Thankfully, the system confirmed the surrounding area was safe. No spies were monitoring this area. They must have assumed I had escaped.

[Ding! Warning]

[Killing intent detected.]

A mechanical voice sounded in my mind. My heart skipped a beat. I had checked to ensure everyone was gone.

“Then who could it be?” I asked myself.

I looked around, spotting someone staring at me with ill intent. Recognizing the face, I realized it was the inn owner.

A smirk crept across my face. I understood his mentality. He must be thinking about taking revenge.

“Harumph,” I scoffed.

I found a large supermarket right next to me and entered without hesitation.

The supermarket was bustling with people. I began searching for the rooms and eventually found one at the end.

Entering the room, I discovered it led to another place.

Meanwhile, Old Sam rushed out to catch me but was too late. Before he could do anything, he saw me enter the supermarket.

Once inside, he lost my trail.

“Damn it,” he muttered, his eyes reddening with anger.

He could report it to the Blaire Clan, but that might prevent him from getting the credit.

Determined to find the culprit himself, he began searching the supermarket.

“So it’s a storage area,” I muttered to myself. I saw a large number of unpacked goods in the place.

However, I didn’t want to linger. The storage area might be under constant surveillance. I decided to leave.

Soon, I found the exit and walked out. I went to the next street and quickly found another big hotel to stay in.

Meanwhile, the inn owner, Sam, left the place after searching extensively.

The Following Day

When the sun rose, I got out of bed. After my morning routine, I took a cold bath.

About 20 minutes later, I changed into fresh clothes and ordered some morning coffee. Sitting leisurely on the sofa, I couldn’t help but think of yesterday’s events.

Yesterday had been a grueling day. I had escaped a major threat. I needed to reach the Ancient Redwood Country.

I didn’t have the time or energy to get entangled with Don Blaire and his family.

I cleared the clutter of unnecessary thoughts from his mind, allowing him to focus. With a quick swipe, I used the temporary ID I had set up to access the internet, tapping into the city’s bustling network.

The morning news feed lit up instantly, and as expected, the top headlines were dominated by stories about the Top Six Families, the ruling dynasties of Topset City. But one article stood out from the rest.

[Topset City’s Main Auction Today!]

The bold headline captured my curiosity immediately. I clicked on the link, and the article loaded quickly. My eyes skimmed over the details, and within five minutes, I felt a thrill run through me.

My heart raced. “This… this could be it.” My eyes gleamed with excitement as I whispered to myself, “I didn’t expect to hit the jackpot today.” The auction promised rare item artifacts, luxury goods, even relics from the city’s golden age.

My curiosity was piqued, but something more. Maybe, just maybe, I could buy something valuable, something more than a souvenir.

The best part? Tickets were still available for the public, a rare opportunity. Without hesitation, I made my decision. “I’m going to see how this works for myself,” I thought, already imagining the possibilities. If luck was on my side, who knows what I might leave with?

The only obstacle I could foresee was the constant shadow of the Blaire Clan’s spies. They were everywhere, their eyes and ears always searching for any advantage. If I tried to enter the auction directly, they might notice me.

It would be better if I could gain access to the Headquarters through someone else, I mused, but the idea seemed too risky. I shook my head to clear the thought, dismissing it for now. I couldn’t afford distractions.

At exactly 10 A.M., I checked out of the hotel, the cool morning air brushing against my face, though it was concealed behind a sleek, dark mask.

The mask was standard in Topset City, a necessity for anonymity, especially for anyone hoping to avoid unwanted attention like me. People glanced at me as I passed by, their curiosity flickering for just a second before they went about their business, minds likely preoccupied with their own secrets.

The route to the auction had already been mapped out in my head, each twist and turn memorized. I moved swiftly through the streets, blending into the flow of the city’s pulse.

As I approached the towering auction building, a sense of anticipation filled the air. The structure itself loomed large, its marble facade gleaming under the morning sun, a silent promise of wealth and power waiting behind its doors.

Outside, a crowd had already gathered, buzzing with the same energy that pulsed through me. What stood out the most, though, were the masks.

Just like me, nearly everyone wore one some simple and unassuming, others elaborate and richly adorned, hinting at the wealth and influence of the wearers.

It was clear that no one here wanted to be recognized. This was more than just an auction. It was a game of power, played by those who understood its rules.

Looking at the auction building, I’m unsure if I can afford the ticket to enter. It’s massive, and its capacity must be enormous as well.

I’ve decided to wait and see. Many of the wizards here have strong oppressive mana. There’s a chance that some people from the Top 6 Families might be present.
