Chapter 1803: Charysm (2)

Sylas didnʼt reply immediately, mostly because as off-hand as Old Bramaʼs comments had been back then, the Duchessʼ comments were far more qualified.

The memories of the Demons trapped in this place were very peculiar. But while many of the things that happened to their other iterations were very much suppressed, they still had important memories from their original world— some of them, at least.

The Sanguara were the most powerful Demon Race trapped here, so logically they should have the most in- depthinformation. This was especially so since their numbers were the fewest.

To deal with such a disadvantage in population, a monopoly on information was essential.

The exception, of course, was in a case of absolute power. But it had been so long since the Sanguara had birthed someone with True Blood that it was strenuous to believe that they would have been able to make it so far on power alone.

”I am human,” Sylas decided to reply simply.

”You are something more than human.”

”I am a Human Simioid,” Sylas replied just as casually.

”No. A Human should not be capable of having Demonic Will.”

”I have a Sin Seed.”

Sylasʼ continuous nonchalant replies were starting to piss the Duchess off, but she quickly found that she was being influenced by something odd once more.

Sylas, though, was very carefully selecting his words. He had purposely not said Virtue Seed.

As for the matter of a Sin Seed, it took a moment for the Duchess to register it before her eyes went wide.

”You...”

It was as Sylas expected. The matter of a Sin Seed seemed to mean something to her.

”Am I wrong, then...” she mumbled to herself.

A Sin Seed was enough to prove to be an explanation she couldnʼt easily overlook. There was a reason Sylas had been so good at pretending to be a Charysm before.

She recalled his façade, but after it faded away, she realized that he was an invader. But right now, she really felt like he was a Charysm again.

There was just something off about Sylas she couldnʼt quite put her finger on.

Either way, Sylas had powerful Charisma, and it was impacting her more than others, likely because he had somehow subordinated her bloodline.

Her eyes flashed wide.

”You donʼt have a Sin Seed. You have a Virtue Seed. You have the Virtue Seed of Pride.”

The words tumbled out of her mouth as she came to a realization.

Sylasʼ eyes narrowed, but he didnʼt make any sudden movements, nor did he make a decision.

The reason he hid the matter of a Virtue Seed but chose to disclose the matter of a Sin Seed was that the latter seemed a bit... cheap. There was certainly something special about a Virtue Seed in comparison.

Plus, he preferred to keep things close to the vest when he could.

”You are a Charysm!” she said with even more certainty. ”Impossible. Itʼs impossible for anyone other than a Charysm to awaken the Virtue Pride Seed!”

Sylas didnʼt know what any of that meant. Werenʼt Charysm just incubi and succubuses? What did that have to do with Pride? Shouldnʼt she be talking about some sort of Virtue Lust Seed?

Sylas didnʼt know what any of that meant. Werenʼt Charysm just incubi and succubuses? What did that have to do with Pride? Shouldnʼt she be talking about some sort of Virtue Lust Seed?

The blank look on Sylasʼ face almost sent the Duchess into another tirade, but for some reason, she found herself explaining instead. This time, her tone was almost... respectful.

”You do not understand. The difference between the Real World and the Demon World has always been how we view Sin. Your people do not understand your limits, do not understand your baser impulses, and instead try to hide them and cover them in a veneer of self-righteousness.

”You call them Sins because of that. Only a Demon would ever call them a Virtue.”

Sylas didnʼt reply once again. But he didnʼt agree in the slightest.

Though, it was hard to say if he didnʼt agree because she was wrong, or if it was the case that he still had his own ingrained biases.

Was he even someone who found certain sins to be proper? Or did he just want an excuse to embrace his Pride like the Duchess was implying?

”The Charysm have never been a lustful Race. Or, rather, the strongest of them have never been.”

Sylas viewed off into the distance, thinking about the Duchessʼ words.

In truth, it was easy to think of the Lust Seed as the Charisma-tied Seed. After all, it was the one that, when used, had a direct impact on his Charisma, increasing its potency. When it worked in conjunction with his Gluttony Seed —though he hadnʼt had to do such a thing in a very long while the result was truly shocking.

But, compared to how the Pride Seed impacted his Charisma, the effects of the Lust Seed were practically... minor.

The act of suppressing Will was a direct act of Charisma. Charisma was a measure of how much and how efficiently oneʼs Will could influence the world around you. To be able to not just influence the world, but to take it a step further and directly suppress the internal power structure of a living being... That was on a whole other level.

It could be argued that the Pride Seed was actually far more the Charisma Seed than the Lust Seed was. The gap could be said to be unfathomable.

But this talk of Charysms and their true origins...

Sylas didnʼt find it to be all that important, not now. He knew that he was no Charysm. If he was, the system would have wiped him off the face of the map a long time ago. After all, he had established a connection with the system and been scanned long before he got his hands on the Scorned Wraps.

The Duchess seemed to be about to go into another tirade when Gogo came to a stop.

Down below, a huge expanse of a city spread out.

Sylas raised a hand, and Runes began to slowly spread from his hand like blooming flowers.

It was about time he entered the E-tier.
