Eternal Thief

Chapter 1396: Identity Crisis

Damienʼs eyes flickered with a hint of vigilance when Prosperity Matriarch called him an ʼOracleʼ.

In an ambiguous yet respectful tone, he probed, ”Since exalted Wealth King called me an ʼOracleʼ, do you believe in ʼhigher powerʼ?”

”You have guts, boy, to question this King.” Prosperity Matriarch coldly berated as the bright hall suddenly turned dim, and the warm atmosphere turned slightly chilly.

In an even tone, Prosperity Matriarch said, ”Donʼt get ahead of yourself. I didnʼt grant you an audience because of your little trick, but your origin piqued my interest. Are you a disciple of the Divine Wise Atoll? Did the Divine Wise Atoll want to break their treaty and cause chaos in lands?!”

Despite the Prosperity Matriarchʼs even tone, Damien felt terrifying chills running down his spine as if his neck was touching the sharp edge of a blade.

ʼThe dignity of a King shouldnʼt be challenged for even the heavenly laws acknowledged and pay homage to a King of Laws…this is the Kingʼs Might of an Ascension King radiating her regal ʼwillʼ!ʼ

Damienʼs expression was slightly pale as only now did he understand that his plan was utterly ridiculous from the start, and he had thoroughly overestimated himself; at least, facing an Ascension King now was too soon.

However, now that he was riding a tigerʼs back, he had to go all the way. Despite his apprehension, he knew Prosperity Matriarch was showing her authority and warning him not to get ahead of himself. He was only alive because of his lineage as the ”Son of Heaven.”

Taking a deep breath, he bowed in front of the Prosperity Matriarch and apologized, ”Please forgive my antics, Exalted Wealth King. But Iʼm not a disciple of this Divine Wise Atoll. In fact, Iʼve only heard this name for the first time in my life. I only serve Heavenly Justice.

”Furthermore, I have no malicious intention towards anyone, and my only enemy is the Sky Stealer. Heʼs the true threat to everyone, even the rules and laws are in danger because of his abominable existence!”

Hate and killing intent flashed past Damienʼs eyes as he looked at Prosperity Matriarch who seem to have a glimmer of curiosity in her profound enthralling eyes, ”Thatʼs why I came to the Prime Heavenly Wealth King Sect and revealed my origin because the Justice showed me the ʼProphecy Plaqueʼ of the Founder Patriarch of the PHW King Sect!”

Prosperity Matriarchʼs eyes finally showed a hint of surprise. She coldly said, ”Despite your claims, itʼs hard to believe your words because even the Divine Wise Atollʼs Sacred Oracle, who is an Ascension King of Fate Law, canʼt see the Prophecy Plaque.

”But I still canʼt overlook the fact that you know about it somehow. You even use the term ʼSon of Heavenʼ instead of ʼHeavenʼs Chosenʼ. Back then, you were going to say that I want to find the truth of *&^%*…”

Strangely, Prosperity Matriarchʼs words turned into gibberish just like Damienʼs back in the Prosperity Evaluation Chamber.

Her eyes narrowed dangerously, ”You were aware that the laws would react strangely and instantly hide these words as if the very world itself forbade them. So, who really are you?”

Damien ambiguously looked at the Prosperity Matriarch, and then suddenly sighed in resignation, ”Exalted Wealth King, you can easily deduce if Iʼm telling the truth or lies, after all, Iʼm but a humble 7-Star Ascension Grand General. Moreover, I wonʼt dare to lie in front of you nor deceive your exalted self.

”Iʼm the Advocate of Heaven, descended upon these Heavenly Lands to ensure its Justice, and hunt the enemy who threatens the Heavenly Rules and Order. Previously, you called me an ʼOracleʼ, but Iʼm neither an oracle nor a seer.”

A cruel glint flashed past Damienʼs eyes, and with a derision, he scoffed, ”In fact, those Oracles and Seers are nothing but clowns trying to peer into the Heavenly Fate; they are not different from parasites who also steal from their creator in the hope of escaping the inevitable.

”I absolutely condemned those parasites, and I vowed to bring Heavenly Justice to them. Iʼm the Heavenʼs Advocate, and I receive ʼordersʼ not oracle or miracles. Justice is absolute and inexorable.”

Suddenly, the scale mark on Damienʼs forehead shimmered, and all the fear in his person vanished, and Kingʼs Might surrounding Damien suddenly vanished…no, it escaped!

The Prosperity Matriarch naturally noticed this, and a clear shock surfaced in her eyes as she looked at Damien with disbelief, ʼOnly a Kingʼs Might can tackle another Kingʼs Might, but he made my Kingʼs Might retreat, only a Transcendent might be capable of that! Could he really be someone sent by ʼHeavenʼ? But itʼs not possible. Heaven is without conscience or bias; it exists in rules and laws. How could it suddenly start sending champions, and why now?

ʼItʼs probably one of those mysterious ʼpuppeteersʼ of Upper Heaven, or he was somehow contacted by another senior member of our sect who had ascended long ago! But I canʼt ignore this Heavenʼs Advocateʼs existence anymore because he might become a variable in my plans. However, compared to him, the other one seemed extremely… ordinary.

ʼSo, does this mean the other one is only a Heavenʼs Chosen, and this one is the Son of Heaven? But the records of the founder only state that the Heavenʼs Chosen will be the Son of Heaven. I need the real one…ʼ

Prosperity Matriarch had never thought she would fall into such a huge dilemma all of a sudden, and Damienʼs existence had clearly confused her entirely, for nothing was making any sense.

Nonetheless, Prosperity Matriarch wonʼt miss this chance and her plan, which had started to concoct ever since the day Ace had shown his ʼHeavenʼs Chosenʼ talent, and she needs the real Heavenʼs Chosen to move further.

Thatʼs why Damienʼs sudden appearance made her confused, and now, after witnessing Damienʼs mysterious power and his zealot-like behavior, she knew controlling Damien was far more troublesome than Ace.

In fact, since the moment Damien had appeared in this place, she wanted to control his mind and then infiltrate it to get his secrets, but it was Damien who remained unaffected.

Before she could use a more direct approach, Damien suddenly made her Kingʼs Might retrieve. Although she wasnʼt trying her best, this made her somewhat vigilant of the ʼHeavenʼ behind Damien.

Nonetheless, as an ancient monster, the Prosperity Matriarch has countless ways to achieve her goals and control Damien just enough to steer him in the correct direction. She has also found this way.

”Alright, you made your point. Youʼre not an oracle or seer; youʼre Heavenʼs Advocate. I acknowledged your existence!” Prosperity Matriarch tonelessly stated before her eyes flickered strangely, ”Tell me everything about your goals, and how they can benefit me and my sect. Afterward, you need to clear your identity as the only Son of Heaven.”

Damien was relieved when Prosperity Matriarch didnʼt act on his deliberate provocation, but her last words made him frown, ”I donʼt understand? Iʼm the only Son of Heaven!” His words were filled with confidence and even with a hint of arrogance.

Prosperity Matriarchʼs eyes seemed to have a hint of a smile as she replied, ”Sorry to disappoint you, but there is another Heavenʼs Chosen who has appeared a few months ago. Iʼm not calling him the Son of Heaven since he didnʼt claim to be one, a completely normal reaction.

”But as far as I know, there can only be a single Heavenʼs Chosen who can then awake as the Son of Heaven. Although these are mostly legends, they are closest to the truth since many King sects have similar details.

”However, no one has ever seen a Son of Heaven, and their traces seemed to have vanished from the annals of history, just like Heaven Defiers. But if you are claiming to be the Son of Heaven after merely destroying the Prosperity Evaluation Chamber, then the other one is also a Son of Heaven!”

For the first time, Damien showed an expression of incredulity, and doubt surfaced in his eyes as he muttered, ”Itʼs impossible!”
