Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Malfunction

Her eyes burned with tears, and she felt a lump in her throat. Remembering how the relatives whom she had helped time and time again refused to help her while a little child whom she had casually helped remembered her kindness, made Aunt Jun want to cry.

Yet she held it in. She was an adult. She shouldn’t cry in front of a child.

However, before she could hold back her tears, Ivy entered the apartment, closed the door, and hugged Aunt June,

”It’s alright, Aunt, I am here. Don’t cry. Everything will be good.”

The constant pressure from the emerging apocalypse and the tension about the food in her house came crashing down, and Aunt June sobbed.

Her choking sound made Ivy’s heart tremble, and she couldn’t help but purse her lips in distress. She patted Aunt June’s back and soothed her.

After 10 minutes, Aunt June calmed down and pulled away with an embarrassed expression, ”Ah... I will get you to drink something.”

With that, she left hurriedly; however, Ivy did stop her. She was giving Aunt June a leeway.

Looking at the familiar apartment, Ivy was filled with nostalgia. She had frequently visited this place during her childhood.

Ivy didn’t feel any particular joy. The points she gets after seeing her close one’s distress only filled her heartache.

Soon, Aunt June returned with a glass of water, and Ivy came to realize that even pure water is scarce.

She regretted not having any plastic bottles, otherwise she could have given Aunt June water it in.

But since she realized this defect, she would make sure to correct it next time. She didn’t drink the water and instead said,

”I am getting late. I will leave now. When uncle returns, say hello on my behalf.”

Aunt June wanted to insist that Ivy stay inside, after all the zombies roaming in the hallways were so scary and hard to deal with that she hardly left the apartment.

However, Ivy assured her and left. Ivy’s next stop was the old couple’s house. They were the same couple who had saved her in a previous life when she was cornered and scared stiff.

Their name were Paul Donald and Linda Donald.

Seeing Ivy again with a bag of food supplies, they froze in surprise. Paul, who had previously taken away the food without asking any questions, didn’t take the food from Ivy’s hand and instead hesitated.

”We can’t take it. This is too precious.” Paul shook his head. Even though their ration was running out and they were desperate for food, they couldn’t take food from Ivy for free.

Now, buying food was almost as hard as finding a dinosaur. No one was ready to sell food. And those who are willing want 20g of gold just for 2kg of rice.

Even with all of their savings, they won’t be able to afford even a month’s worth of food. And here Ivy was... giving them food for free.

”Child, I understand that you are kind, but you shouldn’t give away food. Some with evil intentions might try to use moral kidnapping to steal food from you.” Paul earnestly advised.

Ivy was an innocent and kind child. What if she met an evil person with ill intentions?

All the people who were harmed by Ivy instead: ”...” No, old man, you are misunderstanding something.

Ivy chuckled, feeling that old man was truly cute, and said with a naive smile, ”Uncle, you don’t need to worry about me; these food supplies will spoil, and since I can’t eat them all at once, I am giving them to you.”

Paul: ”...” Do you think I can’t see the rice packets?

Linda: ”...” This child is too naive! No, I need to train her!

Paul and Linda exchanged a glance, a look of understanding flashed in their eyes, and they led Ivy inside.

They were about to begin their lecture when Ivy’s eyes turned moist and she sobbed slightly, ”Am I doing anything wrong? I just wanted to look out for both of you. Why don’t you understand my goodwill...wu...wu...”

Hearing her wailing, both Paul and Linda were speechless. For a moment, they couldn’t utter a single word and could stare at Ivy with mouths agape.

Snapping out of their daze, they started to console her and even promised to take the food. By the time Ivy left, the old couple realized that they had been tricked.

Yet they weren’t furious and instead chuckled. Paul heaved a sigh of relief and said, ”Since she could trick us, she is definitely not some naive bunny of whom others could take advantage.”

”Indeed. I am relieved, too,” Linda said. She then opened the bag and seeing the content inside, she was stunned and patted Paul’s hand in shock, ”Oh my god! See this.”

Paul peeked and was surprised too. 10Kg of rice, 2 packets of salt, some canned vegetables, and 3 fish.

If they ate sparingly, they would not have to worry about food for the next 3 months.

”Sigh! This is too much, we should return her some.” Linda suggested, her heart ached, and yet she couldn’t help but feel touched and grateful toward Ivy.

She even vowed to repay Ivy once her grandchildren come to pick them up. Paul shared a similar belief,

”No need to return. Once our grandchildren appear, we will ask them to pay the gold to Ivy as repayment. Since she had given us so much, she must have done it with a plan in her mind.”

Linda thought for a while before nodding.”Thanks to her, we can hold on till our grandchildren reach here.”

Even Paul was touched by Ivy’s kindness.

A similar scene happened in Aunt June’s house when she realized that Ivy had left her food just enough to eat for the next 3 months.

Ivy was stunned to hear the influx of messages. 4 times? Did the temporal storage have some kind of malfunction?
