The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 2429: Standing above time

Eonar and Lortar clenched their fists.

Cold resolve replaced hesitation as determination ignited in their eyes. Without exchanging another word, they nodded to one another—and unleashed everything they had.

Their energies detonated.

A pillar of blazing crimson surged from Lortar’s body, while a towering column of deep cerulean erupted from Eonar. Heat and temporal force twisted together, tearing open the sky as the twin pillars climbed heavenward.

The next instant, both kings vanished.

They reappeared before the Blood King in a flash of distorted space, moving so fast that even a Middle Alpha–Omega Overgod would struggle to track them. Despite their grievous wounds, their speed remained monstrous.

It took less than a heartbeat.

Lortar’s halberd and Eonar’s sword descended from opposite sides, crossing toward Cain’s neck like the blades of a colossal scissor, perfectly synchronized and aimed to decapitate him in a single strike.

For the briefest instant, the two Royal Blutlinie felt certainty.

They had him.

Then—

Cain vanished.

He reappeared a few meters behind his original position, the weapons slicing through empty space where his head had been.

”Teleportation?”

The same thought flashed through both rulers’ minds.

It should have been impossible. Their energies and Omen Forces flooded the battlefield, warping space-time so severely that even short-range teleportation should have failed.

But logic had already proven useless.

They were facing a man who had devoured the armies of two kingdoms to forge his body.

Without hesitation, the two kings demonstrated the mastery earned through countless ages of war. They twisted their bodies mid-motion, momentum flowing seamlessly into the next attack as their weapons lunged forward again.

The halberd and sword tore through the air like comets capable of piercing planets, aimed directly at Cain’s chest.

Cain vanished once more.

He appeared a meter to the side, the blades missing him by a fraction.

Shock surged through Eonar and Lortar—but they did not stop.

They attacked again.

And again.

Their movements were flawless, weapons flowing in perfect tandem, closing every possible angle. Each strike carried the power to obliterate an Alpha–Omega Overgod.

Yet every time—

Cain disappeared just before impact.

He reappeared again and again, always a step beyond their reach.

Within the Ocean of the Blood Sun, the Royal Guards used its vitality to recover from their wounds. Hades and Satan frowned deeply as they watched the exchange above.

What troubled them was not fear.

It was confusion.

”Why are they...” Satan muttered, his draconic gaze sharpening. ”...moving so slowly?”

At the beginning of the clash, Lortar and Eonar had moved with terrifying speed—so fast that even Satan could barely follow them with his gaze.

But now?

Now they moved only slightly faster than a Middle Alpha–Omega Overgod.

”It must be the Ancestor Power of our Creator,” Hades said solemnly. ”It should be connected to time. He must be slowing them down.”

”No.”

Morningstar shook his head immediately.

His analytical gaze honed, glowing faintly as he studied the battlefield. His voice dropped, edged with awe.

”He’s doing far more than that. Look at the energy streams around him.”

Hades and Satan focused, their senses locking onto the particles of power being released with every clash.

They froze.

The energy itself was slowing.

Flames elongated unnaturally. Shockwaves crawled instead of exploding. Even light bent sluggishly as it passed near Cain.

”...Reality itself is slowing down,” Morningstar said quietly.

”And the most horrifying part is this—while you’re inside the domain, you don’t even realize you’re moving slower.”

Shock rippled through the Royal Guards.

For a power to alter the flow of reality so subtly that its victims could not perceive it—

That authority stood above time itself.

It dwarfed every Ancestor Power they had witnessed before.

Morningstar’s assessment was flawless.

Eonar and Lortar were thinking slower. Reacting slower. Moving slower.

The effect was insidious and absolute.

Because they could not sense it, they could not resist it.

Of course, even under such suppression, their speed remained terrifying—fast enough to butcher a Middle Alpha–Omega Overgod in an instant.

But while reality crawled around Cain, he moved freely.

Not merely freely—

He moved at overwhelming speed.

So fast that even Late Alpha–Omega Overgods would struggle to follow him with their eyes.

This battle was not born of arrogance.

Cain had wanted this fight to test himself.

It was the Scarlet King’s first true clash in Paradise, and he needed clarity—an honest understanding of his power. If he intended to nurture his Primordial Essence enough to swim upward through the Flow, he would need far greater strength.

And he had no intention of advancing slowly. He did not have millennia or centuries. He needed to return in decades at most, meaning that he would have to cultivate at an impossible speed.

That path required plunder.

It required conquest.

It required war.

As Cain refined his understanding of his own speed and authority, Eonar suddenly withdrew.

He shot backward, reappearing thousands of meters away in an instant, leaving Lortar alone before the Blood King.

At first glance, it looked like retreat.

Cain knew better.

”So he noticed,” Cain thought calmly.

”His dominion over the Omen of Time must be exceptional to detect it.”

Eonar’s eyes widened as he distanced himself, teeth clenching as he finally felt it.

The distortion.

The wrongness.

”What kind of power is this?” Eonar muttered, his mind racing. ”It affects time... but it stands above time.”

Countless thoughts surged through his mind—but he crushed them all beneath iron discipline.

”Pull back!” he shouted.

Lortar did not hesitate.

He disengaged instantly, retreating from Cain’s presence with all his remaining power. His mastery over time paled in comparison to Eonar’s, but he had seen enough.

The strange behavior of energy. The unnatural flow of motion.

The truth was undeniable.

A wave of dread washed over his heart.

The two kings exchanged a single glance.

They did not speak.

They didn’t need to.

They both understood the same thing.

Their approach was wrong.

And if they continued fighting like this—

They would die without ever understanding how.
