Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 792: Chapter 792: I Won’t Give Up Until the Last Moment

Fu Chenyi patted his mother’s back: ”Mom, that’s why I must go on this trip.”

Xu Yuqing nodded tearfully: ”I understand, I understand, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have stopped you before.”

It was only recently that Fu Chenyi discovered that his real father, Fu Qidong, had an illegitimate child outside.

He had someone investigate, and that child was indeed unexpected. After learning of the illegitimate child’s existence, Fu Qidong, out of a sense of responsibility, helped settle the mother and child.

It was just shortly after his own accident that the mother and child came to Beijing and expressed their desire to live there.

Initially, Fu Qidong didn’t agree, but he later compromised and pulled some strings to find jobs for the mother and child, allowing them to settle in Beijing.

It’s easy to see why Fu Qidong did that; he just felt he couldn’t rely on his own offspring to carry on the family legacy and wanted to have a backup plan.

Given the current situation, it’s really not ideal for him. With his two uncles eyeing the Fu family assets and a half-brother lying in wait, it was truly wretched.

Seeing his mother had calmed down, he then said, ”Mom, I won’t give up until the very last moment.

Not giving up isn’t because of the Fu family assets in their eyes, but because I love life. I want to live without regrets, and I also want you to have the opportunity to enjoy life with grandchildren like everyone else.

So, don’t think too much. We will let everything go with the flow.”

Xu Yuqing wiped the tears from her eyes: ”Alright, I understand.”

Xu Yuqing also unintentionally discovered that mother and child, and like her son, had someone investigate them. She knew it wasn’t Fu Qidong being unfaithful, but rather an unexpected result of someone’s scheme. For her son’s sake, she endured the discomfort and kept everything inside, pretending to be oblivious.

But now that her son had health problems, it was clear Fu Qidong had something weighing on his mind.

As the saying goes, a mother becomes strong for her child. For her son’s sake, she must think long-term.

Mother and son talked a lot: ”Mom, there’s no time to waste. I’ll leave tomorrow, but this needs to be kept secret.”

Xu Yuqing naturally understood her son’s intentions. After all, each member of the Fu family had their own agenda. Even her daughter, Fu Baojuan, started having thoughts after hearing that Fu Chenyi’s injury might affect his heirs, not to mention the other two families in the house.

Moreover, the Main Consort now had an additional illegitimate child to deal with?

Thinking of this, her expression turned cold: No one should covet what belongs to her son.

The next day, Fu Chenyi found an excuse to leave Beijing, bought a train ticket heading south, and after entering the ticket gate, exchanged his ticket with someone waiting there. He went to the platform where the train heading to Ji City was located.

Not far from the ticket gate outside, a boy stood watching until Fu Chenyi entered the station and disappeared from view before turning away.

Just as Fu Chenyi boarded the train, another train slowly pulled into the station.

Zhang Wenjuan pulled her scarf higher around her neck, carrying a small bundle, and followed the crowd off the train, slowly walking toward the station’s exit.

Outside the train station, not seeing anyone there to pick her up, she didn’t rush to take a taxi. Instead, she strolled along the street, looking at the familiar scenery: Forty-Nine City, I’m back.

She didn’t know how long she walked, but when she saw a post office ahead, she went inside. Checking the time, she walked up to the front: ”Comrade, I’d like to make a call.”
