Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 788: Chapter 788: Opportunity Always Favors the Prepared

Yunyi picked up the cup on the table and took a sip: ”After all, the news I heard before was just a rumor, but opportunities are always for those who are prepared.”

Ye Wenhui saw the confident expression on Yunyi’s face and immediately felt motivated: ”You’re right. We really can’t be complacent. Anyway, there’s not much to do at the Agricultural Reclamation Group now. I’ll hurry back and pick up my books again.”

Yunyi rolled her eyes at this: ”Judging by what you said, you haven’t been studying much lately?”

Ye Wenhui, a bit embarrassed, replied: ”No, no, it’s just that I haven’t been as focused as before. Don’t worry, I’ll go through everything carefully once I get back, and I won’t slack off anymore.”

Yunyi didn’t continue this topic, as some things shouldn’t be too forced. She had already given a reminder, whether they cherish it or not is up to them.

Ye Wenhui obviously realized Yunyi didn’t want to dwell on this matter anymore: ”Yunyi, yesterday when I was on the bus going back, I ran into Aunt Guihua from Songling Village. She asked about you, and I told her about your wedding yesterday and about your work at the Machinery Factory Workers’ Hospital. By the looks of it, she might come to see you.”

Earlier in the morning, Yunyi also thought about notifying a few good families in Songling Village, but then reconsidered since their visit might be costly for them.

She planned to visit with Jingrui in a few days, hand out some wedding candy to the village folks, which would be a way of sharing the joy.

Moreover, after this visit, she might not have the time to go again, as once the high school exams are over, she and Huo Jingrui should go back to Beijing, sort of a farewell ahead of time, considering how well the village people took care of them during their time in Songling Village.

Thinking of something: ”Sis, is there anyone living in the small courtyard I used to stay in?”

Upon hearing Yunyi’s question, Ye Wenhui responded: ”After you left, the new Doctor Huang stayed there for a while, but he only remained at the clinic for a little over a month before he was transferred, and it’s been empty since.”

Yunyi was a bit puzzled: ”Did no other doctors come to the clinic later?”

Ye Wenhui nodded: ”No, but Doctor Qiu and his son have been helping out regularly there.”

Yunyi understood now, it seemed like Doctor Qiu wanted his son to follow in his footsteps, teaching him medical skills hands-on: ”Sis, can you help me tidy up the small courtyard a bit? Jingrui and I plan to go back for a few days.”

I’ll have Jingrui contact Chief Qiao in advance, and you can get the key from Doctor Qiu.”

Upon hearing Yunyi was returning to the Agricultural Reclamation Group, Ye Wenhui perked up: ”Really, when are you coming back?”

Yunyi realized they had just taken time off for their wedding and didn’t want to ask for more immediately: ”This week is definitely not an option, maybe next week.”

Soon there should be news about the college entrance exam being reinstated, and she needed to return to deliver study materials to them. It would also be a good opportunity to take Jingrui into the deep mountains once more, since they wouldn’t know if there would be another chance after the exam.

Most of the meat they got from the deep mountains was used up in the wedding banquet, and it would still be a long time before ration tickets were canceled, so it was a good chance to hunt some game to store for use when they moved back to Beijing.

Having discussed almost everything, Jingrui had also finished packing everything on his end.

Ye Wenhui stood up, ready to leave: ”Sis, I should go, or I’ll miss the last bus.”

Yunyi packed some snacks for her, and Huo Jingrui also prepared two lunchboxes of food: ”Take these with you, heat them up for dinner.”

Ye Wenhui didn’t stand on ceremony with the couple, taking the items, she looked seriously at Huo Jingrui: ”I’m entrusting my sister to you, you must treat her well.”
