Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 336: Chapter 336: Take Me to the City Hospital

Yunyi put her things down, then turned to fetch a shovel from the sheepfold. She said to Yuan Yuxun, who was standing at the entrance of the straw shed, ”Master, it’s too cold. You should go inside. I need to shovel the snow off the roof.”

Yunyi walked to the side of the straw shed and, with a leap, landed on the roof.

Her movements were swift. The straw shed wasn’t very large, so it didn’t take much effort for her to clear the snow from the roof.

After coming down from the roof, she went directly to a small hill behind the shed. When she returned, she was dragging a tree trunk as thick as a man’s wrist.

She sized it up outside, then used her Inner Strength to remove the excess parts. Only then did she haul it inside and stand the trunk upright in the middle of the shed. With this trunk for support, the straw hut wouldn’t collapse under the snow’s weight, even if she couldn’t come to shovel it in time.

Yuan Yuxun’s eyes misted over as he watched his apprentice work so diligently. In past winters, whenever it snowed, he had to exert tremendous effort to climb onto the shed roof to remove the snow. He suffered from acrophobia and was scared half to death every time. Now he had an apprentice. Even though she was a girl, her abilities surpassed those of most men. Initially, he had only wanted to repay a debt of gratitude, so he had planned to teach her everything he knew. He hadn’t expected the young girl to show him the proper respect and be willing to become his disciple. At first, he was terrified that his status would bring her trouble, but then he thought of her capabilities and felt reassured. Ever since they had formally become master and apprentice, his and his grandson’s lives had undergone a dramatic, previously unthinkable transformation.

Yunyi, seeing the task was done, was about to leave when Yuan Zining, who had been sleeping on the kang bed, groggily woke up. He rubbed his eyes and murmured, ”Master Aunt.”

As he spoke, he sat up.

Yunyi, afraid he might catch a cold, said, ”Quick, lie down. Don’t get chilled.”

Yuan Zining looked annoyed. ”How did I fall asleep?”

Yunyi smiled and stroked his head. ”It’s not your fault. Your Master Aunt was late today. I’ve been busy these past few days and might not be able to come over. You should go to sleep early. Once I’m less busy, I’ll bring you some delicious treats.”

Yuan Zining blinked his big, round eyes. ”Okay.”

After making sure they were settled, Yunyi left, trudging through the snow.

Zhang Xueyan, who had left Hua’an Farm Reclamation, was now in a miserable state. She had been chattering non-stop throughout the journey, annoying the driver so much that he took a wrong turn at a snow-covered crossroads.

Feeling that something was increasingly amiss the further they drove, they got out to ask a local. Only then did they realize they had gone the wrong way.

By the time they finally made it back to the crossroads, they hadn’t gone far before the car broke down again. Zhang Xueyan was so feverish and delirious that she didn’t even have the strength to curse.

The driver and Zhang Xueyan’s assistant, Li Meiwen, saw that her fever was making her delirious. Growing frightened, they had no choice but to run to a nearby village for help.

Fortunately, when the villagers heard that a life was at stake, they brought a sled and transported her to the nearest commune hospital.

When she woke up and discovered she hadn’t been taken to the city hospital but to the local commune hospital instead, she flew into another rage. ”Sister Li, I told you I wanted to go to the city hospital!”

Her fever, which had finally started to subside, flared up again due to her outburst, and soon she was delirious once more.

The next morning, she woke up to find she was still in the same place and immediately started making a scene. ”Sister Li, do my words mean nothing to you, is that it?”

Propping herself up, she was about to get out of bed when the driver walked in. ”Sister Li, the car’s fixed. What now?”

Before her assistant, Li Meiwen, could reply, Zhang Xueyan snapped, ”Is there even a need to ask? Hurry up and take me to the city hospital!”

What she didn’t know was that although the snowfall hadn’t been heavy the previous night, it had fallen intermittently throughout the night without truly stopping. Now, the landscape was a vast expanse of white, and the roads were even more treacherous than the day before.
