Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 333: Chapter 333 Opportunity Not to be Missed

Yunyi had initially thought he was just speaking casually. But now that he had actually come looking for her, she couldn’t help but ponder the situation before asking, ”I want to ask, why did you choose me? After all, the cast had been confirmed before filming started. Why would you replace the lead actress at this crucial time with someone as inexperienced as me?”

Gui Kairong didn’t evade the question. ”You know some of what happened today. I invited her to make a film, not to be treated like royalty. She didn’t consider the production team at all, and I can’t let everyone keep waiting for her. After all, this movie is scheduled to be released during the Spring Festival, and we’re really pressed for time.”

Hearing this explanation, Yunyi understood.

I wonder what I’ll look like on screen. The thought is quite exciting. Since I’m so drawn to the idea, there’s no point in refusing any longer. Opportunities like this are fleeting, aren’t they?

Considering the original female lead’s temper, Yunyi got straight to the point. ”I have indeed thought about trying out acting, but what about the original lead actress? I’m not afraid of her causing trouble for me, but I fear that if I retaliate, I might go too far and make it difficult for you to answer to the people behind her.”

Gui Kairong hadn’t expected Yunyi, despite her young age, to be so thoughtful. ”Don’t worry about that. If I dared to make such a sudden change, then I’m certainly not going to be swayed by others.”

With that assurance, Yunyi stood up with a smile. ”Then please guide me well, Director Gui.”

Right now, she had no other ambitions but to live this life to the fullest. Since she wanted to give it a shot, she wouldn’t let such an opportunity slip away.

Gui Kairong hadn’t expected Yunyi to agree so readily; he had thought he might have to persuade her more.

In the morning, while they were filming other people’s scenes, he personally brought the script to her. He explained it in detail and asked her to familiarize herself with the parts that would be shot that day.

Yunyi was the kind of person who never forgot what she saw. Still, to ensure nothing went wrong, she patiently read through it twice. Even this didn’t interfere with her regular duties.

Soon, the production team learned that the lead actress had been replaced. They began focusing on shooting the new lead’s scenes that afternoon.

The actress playing the second female lead, Ding Yiman, approached him. ”Director, with Xueyan gone and the lead replaced on such short notice, I’m afraid she won’t even remember all her lines, let alone be able to perform.”

Gui Kairong knew exactly what she was implying. ”Just focus on your own duties. You don’t need to worry about the rest.”

After lunch, Gui Kairong personally came to fetch her. ”Let’s go.”

Of course, to avoid any trouble, Gui Kairong hadn’t come alone; he was accompanied by his cousin Qiao Shaoguo and a staff member from the production team.

Upon arrival, Yunyi was taken to the makeup room.

The makeup artist, upon seeing Yunyi, immediately understood why the director had decided on a last-minute replacement. This girl was far more beautiful than Zhang Xueyan, and her aura was a much better fit for the film’s lead role.

Zhang Xueyan is going to be furious, the makeup artist thought. She probably believed everyone would just wait for her. Now, by the time she gets back, they’ll likely have almost finished shooting without her.

The makeup artist looked her over for a while but only helped Yunyi shape her eyebrows a bit; nothing else was needed. Yunyi was then taken to change into her costume.

The reason Gui Kairong dared to replace the actress was that Yunyi and Zhang Xueyan were nearly the same height and build, so the prepared costumes wouldn’t need alterations.

When Yunyi appeared in the costume provided by the production team, everyone was truly stunned.

Even Ding Yiman, who aspired to be the lead actress, was no exception. She hadn’t expected Gui Kairong to find a girl who was a far better fit for the role than Zhang Xueyan on such short notice.

But that didn’t stop her from trying to cause trouble, especially since she considered herself one of the more senior actresses in the cast.

After Gui Kairong introduced Yunyi to everyone, Ding Yiman casually remarked, ”Director, she has quite a few scenes this afternoon. I’m afraid she might not have memorized all her lines. Are you going to make everyone wait around for her?”

Hearing this, Yunyi looked at Ding Yiman with a faint smile. ”Since you put it that way, Senior, you must have scenes with me this afternoon, right?”

Ding Yiman hadn’t expected this newcomer to be so bold as to question her. ”Yes.”

Yunyi raised the script in her hand. ”In that case, how about you rehearse some lines with me, Senior? That way, I can also see how well my studies from this morning paid off.”

Hearing Yunyi’s suggestion, Ding Yiman’s eyes flashed with scorn. She walked right into it, Ding Yiman thought. ”Sure.”
