Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 216: Chapter 144: Su Ping is Kept? Company Established!

”Dong Muyun, where have the Hydro Barriers for the Crescent Lake project gone?”

At dusk, in the offices of Tianyun Group, Dong Mutian questioned furiously.

Dong Muyun simply glanced at him indifferently.

”The sale of Hydro Barriers is handled by Tianyun Materials, a company within Tianyun Group, and it’s unrelated to the real estate subsidiary. Naturally, if the Crescent Lake project wants to use them, the real estate company needs to make an offer and purchase them from Tianyun Materials!”

”But...”

Dong Mutian was seething. Before he took over, were things ever this complicated? They were all part of the same group. What did it matter if some material fees were owed?

The real estate company’s profits were relatively slow, unlike the rapid and lucrative income from selling Pet Beasts, resources, and materials, but it was a long-term business. In such cases, it was only reasonable for the other subsidiaries to offer some support.

However, after he took charge, things had clearly become more complicated.

Subsidiaries of the same group, having to pay first before getting the goods?

Even working with external companies wasn’t this stringent, was it?

Yet, it was clear Dong Mutian had no alternative. He quickly sat down and said softly, ”Xiao Yun, why bother? This is all for the family...”

Before he could finish his sentence, Dong Muyun’s phone suddenly rang.

Dong Muyun had no inclination to bicker with him. She glanced at her phone, and her eyes lit up.

She didn’t hurry to answer but looked at Dong Mutian.

”I have some matters to attend to. If you have nothing else, I won’t keep you.”

With that, she picked up her phone and walked into the inner office.

”Hello? Su Ping!”

Watching Dong Muyun’s retreating figure, a dark look flashed in Dong Mutian’s eyes, yet he felt helpless.

He could only leave in frustration, but just before he did, his brow furrowed slightly.

Su Ping? Who is that?

Dong Muyun paid no mind to her elder brother’s thoughts. Listening to the voice on the other end of the phone, Queen Dong, who had worn a frosty expression for days, broke into a smile as radiant as a blooming flower.

”Good, good, I’ll be right there. Just wait for me.”

「At the entrance of the Breeder Association building.」

Su Ping stood with Sun Chaoju.

”Are you sure you don’t want your brother to take you?” Sun Chaoju asked.

”I’m sure. You should get back to your business. I’ve arranged for someone to pick me up!” Su Ping replied with a smile, declining Sun Chaoju’s enthusiastic offer.

However, Sun Chaoju wasn’t foolish enough to leave immediately; he could afford to wait a little longer.

”I’ll keep you company for a bit. I really can’t figure out how your mind works. This Heart of the Wolf, if it could be mass-produced, would probably be even more lucrative than the Wanmu Wolf’s cultivation and evolution!”

Sun Chaoju opened his mouth, actually wanting to suggest further cooperation with Su Ping.

Unfortunately, he knew his own limitations. To quickly popularize the Heart of the Wolf Magic Potion, distribution channels weren’t the main issue; the most critical factor was production capacity.

Among Pet Beasts, beast-type Pet Beasts had the largest and broadest appeal. While wolf-and-dog-type Pet Beasts might not be the most used among beast-types, they would undoubtedly rank among the top three—not just in third place.

One could only imagine how vast the market for the Heart of the Wolf was.

Su Ping wasn’t paying much attention to these matters. While waiting, he finally voiced the question that had been lingering in his mind all day.

”Brother Sun, Mu Hang’s father—is he the owner of that Undead Breeder’s diary you gave me last time?”

Sun Chaoju nodded. ”Yes, that’s Senior Undead Breeder Mu Yu! I didn’t expect that after so many years, he would return from across the ocean.”

”So he’s still alive. I thought...” Su Ping mused.

Sun Chaoju glanced at Su Ping and then said in a lower voice, ”The affairs of Breeder Mu Yu were somewhat taboo in the early years. He was said to be a friend of Teacher Liu, but... as you might have seen in that diary, Mu Yu used cultivation methods that were not permitted by law and was eventually discovered, arrested, and imprisoned. After his release, he contacted some spies from across the ocean and chose to leave our Dragon Nation, joining a place where Pet Beast cultivation is more ’free.’ It’s a wonder what he’s come back for this time.”

Su Ping nodded. ”That Mu Hang...”

”Mu Hang himself doesn’t really like Undead-type Pet Beast cultivation; he’s starkly different from his father. That, I can assure you,” Sun Chaoju stated firmly.

It was clear he trusted his friend considerably.

”By the way, didn’t you say last time that you wanted to research that Paperman? How’s that coming along?”

Clearly, Sun Chaoju didn’t want to dwell on the previous topic.

Su Ping scratched his head. ”There’s been a bit of progress!”

Sun Chaoju pursed his lips, then looked at Su Ping quizzically. ”Su Ping, tell me the truth. Have you already evolved the Paperman?”

Su Ping was startled. Before he could speak, Sun Chaoju continued, ”Last time, when you mentioned the Wanmu Wolf, you also said there was ’a bit of progress.’ Is your definition of ’a bit of progress’ different from my understanding of it?”

Su Ping smiled helplessly. ”This time, it really is just a bit of progress.”

It was indeed just a bit of progress: he had merely researched another Racial Skill of the Paperman, one that almost no one had discovered. And, following this direction, the probability of achieving its evolution was extremely high.
