Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 383: The Power of Gun

Still, even though the familiarsʼ battles were interesting, the most exciting part of this battle was actually the fight between the two summoners.

Alavenya breathed heavily, having a hard time because of her injuries. Nathan, on the other hand, was quite exhausted because he had been spending too much Ena.

Both of them stared at each other.

The first one to make the move was Alavenya as she disappeared.

Nathan focused everything on Fenrirʼs skill to keep up with her movement. He jumped to the side because she was planning to kick his left ribs.

However, it was a false alarm. The moment he moved away, her Ena produced a massive shock wave that launched him to the wall.

”…” Nathan was slightly stunned. He pointed his gun at her, shooting his cannon.

Due to the size of this cannon, it wouldnʼt be wise for Alavenya to take it head-on. Coincidentally, behind her was a wall instead of any other familiars.

Hence, she leaped to the left, letting the cannon hit the barrier instead.

Now that the excitement and surprises had settled down a bit, Filia could finally make a calm comment. Filia asked, ”Principal. I still donʼt understand the point of Nathanʼs weapon. How can it produce such a powerful attack?”

”Itʼs actually simple. The gun has several enchantments from what I can see. Most likely, it has the amplification effect, like when youʼre using a wand. And he shot the same bullets, but instead of spreading them, he concentrated on a single attack.”

”I see. Thatʼs where all that power comes from. Still, donʼt you think he can use this weapon like a wand and create more powerful bullets?”

”I donʼt think so. Normally, you donʼt have a wand that drains your Ena so that you can activate your ability faster, right?”

”Yes.” She nodded. ”As a result, some of us usually need a second or two to fully activate our abilities. If it is something big, we might even need more.”

”On the other hand, his weapon seems to have that. In exchange for a quick charge, he abandons the ability to use it like a wand. I donʼt know if youʼve noticed it or not, but you can see his finger on the trigger all the time. With just a single pull, he is able to release that much power.”

”I see. This is indeed a unique style.” She nodded in understanding.

”Yes.”

”Did you know he was this strong from the beginning, Principal? You mentioned you didnʼt want to mess with the bet earlier.” Filia raised her eyebrows.

”Yes, but not really. All I know is that he has managed to kill several mature class aliens on his own. I think most of the second-year students have done that as well, right?”

”Yes.” Filia nodded.

”So, my assumption is just based on that alone.” Sullivan shrugged. There was no way he could say that he knew his power because he was secretly dealing with Nathan.

”Of course, I pay a lot of attention to him, since he is the only unique summoner around. Still, this strength surprises me, especially that taunt. Even I would be so frustrated if I were his opponent.”

”Hahaha. Those taunts are nasty, especially since thereʼs someone who can keep healing you as if nothing matters.”

”Right?” Sullivan chuckled. ”Though there is one thing worth mentioning. Itʼs not his strength. Thereʼs something that piques my interest.”

”Your interest?”

”Yes. The ability to withstand pain. Do you notice that despite being severely injured several times, Nathanʼs expression hasnʼt changed much? He doesnʼt even scream as if everything is fine.”

”Ah. Now that you mention it, thatʼs true.”

”This way, you will make your opponent wonder if their attack has an effect or not. If you think about it, the reason weʼd be so frustrated with him is because he doesnʼt show that our attack is effective. Even during an interrogation, you will know itʼs effective by seeing their emotion or reaction.”

Filia looked down. ”After hearing your explanation, I finally understand what youʼre talking about. His bones might have been broken multiple times. No, even his skull should be damaged. All that pain is unimaginable. Yet, he is able to endure it well… as if thereʼs no pain.”

What they didnʼt know was that he had gotten used to the pain.

On Earth, he was often beaten up. He had suffered a lot of pain from swallowing the mutant cores. As a result, this kind of pain was something he could endure. Of course, he had been acting tough since he was first summoned to this world. It had been ingrained in his body to not show any sort of discomfort.

Nathan and Alavenya still hadnʼt been able to find a way to defeat their opponent. Alavenya squinted her eyes, wondering what she had done wrong.

She had used the Soaring Step five times, meaning she could only use it five more times. Her body was also full of wounds due to Nathanʼs attack as well as the Dragon Grappling.

At this rate, she might end up falling first.

ʼI need something that I can use to somehow take him down.ʼ Alavenya looked around. Unfortunately, this battle was in an arena. Unlike other warfares where there were trees or buildings around, there was simply nothing she could use.

However, her eyes couldnʼt help but pay attention to the gun more. She didnʼt forget that the reason Nathan managed to fight her was due to that gun. His speed in creating those bullets was not enough to match her speed.

ʼThatʼs right. As long as I can take that weapon off his hand, I can still win.ʼ Alavenya finally figured out what she needed to do. ʼJust one kick to the head. He can somehow follow my speed because he has been moving before I even arrive, so I will have to fake it until he shows an opening.ʼ

Whether it was fortunate or unfortunate, the battles on the sides were actually concluded much faster than she imagined.

And the one who first emerged victorious was none other than Anubis.
