Chapter 2020: Is That Your Car?

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

Soon, the two of them walked out of the exit. Tang Li’s eyes were sharp and she saw Yan Ci standing outside.

“Yanyan.”

Tang Li waved her hand when she saw Yan Ci. The latter saw her immediately and walked over with Lin Yi.

At the same time, the two saw Lin Yi and their eyes lit up.

This young man’s appearance was really not bad. He matched Yan Ci perfectly.

Zhou Xinyu also sized him up.

Her boyfriend looked younger than her and was very handsome. Could he be her boy toy?

It seemed possible.

“Aunty.”

Yan Ci walked over with a smile and held her arm immediately. It was obvious how good their relationship was.

“Is this young man your new boyfriend?”

“Yeah, his name is Lin Yi.”

Yan Ci nodded and admitted it openly.

“Hello, Auntie.”

Lin Yi greeted with a smile.

“Alright, alright, alright.” Tang Li smiled and said,

“Thank you so much for coming out in this heat. We’ve troubled you,” Tang Li said.

“No trouble at all, it was our pleasure,” Yan Ci replied, checking her watch.

“It’s almost five. Let’s find a place to eat first. I’ve arranged everything else, so you don’t have to worry, Auntie.”

“Alright, alright. You kids are grown up now, so I’ll leave these matters to you.”

“That’s right. You’re getting older, so leave the small stuff to us. Let’s go,” Yan Ci said with a reassuring smile.

Throughout their meeting, Yan Ci chatted with Tang Li, but didn’t engage much with Zhou Xinyu.

She wasn’t one to warm up to a cold reception.

“Mom, don’t rush.” Zhou Xinyu said.

“Your future son-in-law is almost here, let’s wait for him.”

“I told you not to invite him, why did you bring him here?” Tang Li said with a bit of reproach.

“I didn’t want to, but you know how these government workers are. They have their ears everywhere. When he found out his future mother-in-law was here, he insisted on coming to pick us up.”

“You child.”

Tang Li was quite conservative, even a bit old-fashioned.

She felt that since they were not married, they were not considered a family and could not trouble others.

Lin Yi stood at the side and didn’t say anything.

Although Zhou Xinyu was not young, she was not on the same level as Yan Ci in terms of intelligence. She was a little childish.

“You can’t blame me for this. It’s your son-in-law who’s thoughtful,” Zhou Xinyu said smugly.

“And he’s got a new car recently. It’s more comfortable than my cousin’s sedan.”

Lin Yi and Yan Ci looked at each other but didn’t say anything.

The more she showed off in this aspect, the more it showed that she was inferior to Yan Ci.

“Little Yu!”

Just as they were talking, a shout came from not far away.

The four of them looked over and saw a young man in casual clothes jogging over.

Judging from his appearance, he seemed to be about the same age as Yan Ci. He was about 30 years old and was dressed in a refined manner. He even wore a pair of boundless glasses, giving off a clean and nimble feeling.

“Brother Teng, you’re here.”

Seeing a young man running over, Zhou Xinyu went up to him and held his arm.

“I’m really sorry. I got stuck in traffic.”

“It’s fine. We just arrived too.”

As she spoke, Zhou Xinyu brought her boyfriend to their side and said,

“Mom, he’s my boyfriend, Chen Teng. He works in the Trade and Commerce Department and is now a deputy department director. If nothing goes wrong, he’ll be promoted next year.”

“Hello, Auntie.” Chen Teng greeted her politely.

However, his gaze fell on Yan Ci.

On the way here, he had already heard from Zhou Xinyu that her cousin would come to pick her up.

Initially, Chen Teng did not take it seriously. However, he did not expect her cousin’s appearance to be so outstanding!

“He’s so young, but he’s already a deputy director,” Tang Li said. “That’s not bad.”

“Thank you for your praise, Auntie.” Chen Teng smiled and said,

“This is not the place to talk. Let’s get in the car first. I’ll find a place to arrange a meal to welcome Auntie.”

“Let’s go.”

The group left the exit and arrived at the parking lot.

“Where’s your new car?” Zhou Xinyu asked.

“I’ve been looking at pictures for the past few days. Quick, let me see what the real car looks like.”

“It’s just up ahead.”

As he spoke, Chen Teng pressed the car key. Not far away, a white GL8 car’s headlights lit up.

“Mom, look, this is your son-in-law’s new car. It’s different from ordinary cars. It’s a business car. It’s much more comfortable than a car and a SUV. It’s like flying first class.”

“I’m just an ordinary person. I’m not that particular,” Tang Li said.

“Besides, my heart is just a little uncomfortable, but my legs are still nimble. I’m fine even if I take the bus. Actually, there’s no need to go through so much trouble.”

“That won’t do. After all, your status is different,” Zhou Xinyu said.

“Moreover, this car cost more than 400,000 yuan each. It’s considered the most expensive car in this segment. Am I right?”

Chen Teng smiled and nodded. “More or less. That’s because when ordinary people buy cars, their first choice will be sedans or SUVs. Only those with better conditions will choose such comfortable cars.”

“I see.”

Tang Li did not know much about cars, but to not embarrass them, she could only agree casually.

“Alright, let’s not talk about the car for now.” Chen Teng smiled and said, “Get in first. Let’s go eat first.”

“Okay, let’s go quickly. I heard that this car is called business class on land. I’ve never sat in it before. Let me experience it.”

Zhou Xinyu pulled Tang Li excitedly and prepared to get into the car to eat. She was extremely satisfied.

She knew that Yan Ci was doing well in Zhonghai and had her own car.

However, her car was an Audi A4. It was not as expensive as Brother Teng’s GL8, so she quickly regained her reputation.

Zhou Xinyu wasn’t the only one who was proud. Chen Teng was the same.

Men were also competing.

Chen Teng knew that he couldn’t compare to Lin Yi in terms of looks.

But he didn’t care, because men were different from women.

In this society, men did not only have to be handsome, they also had to have money and social status.

Zhou Xinyu’s boyfriend might be more handsome, but in terms of overall capability, he fell far short compared to himself.

Lin Yi and Yan Ci walked behind, sensing that this guy named Chen Teng must have a significant background.

Otherwise, driving such an expensive car with his position would surely attract scrutiny from the relevant departments.

Additionally, being a deputy section chief at around thirty in a big city like Zhonghai indicated substantial family connections.

“Yan Yan, where are you going? Our car is up ahead,” Tang Li said, turning back.

“We drove here too, and we can’t all fit in one car. We’ll follow behind,” Yan Ci explained.

“Alright, drive carefully and don’t go too fast,” Tang Li reminded.

“Got it.”

As Yan Ci and Lin Yi walked away, Zhou Xinyu held her head high, feeling she had won.

Yan Ci’s car wasn’t as good as Chen Teng’s, and her boyfriend wasn’t as accomplished, so they wouldn’t want to join them and feel inferior.

At that moment, Lin Yi pressed the key to their Alphard, and the lights flashed.

Zhou Xinyu was stunned.

“Is that your car?”
