Chapter 1961: He’s Actually Not Dead

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

“Well…”

Chen Canrong was stunned. He initially wanted to hide Lin Yi’s presence on the ship to shirk responsibility.

However, he had been seen through immediately.

“This was my oversight. I haven’t figured out the details yet, but I will keep investigating,” he said.

Fang Shihong, resting his head on his hand, spoke with a blank expression.

“Harris and the others are dead. Given that, it seems unlikely that the other side would let you go. I want to know, how did you manage to escape?”

“The other side didn’t want excessive casualties, so we didn’t engage in a full-scale fight. After some stalemate, they allowed us to leave.”

“The other side? The Sunrise Land Coast Guard?”

“No, it was that Huaxian man. He said the mission was complete and didn’t continue fighting,” Chen Canrong said.

“Both sides were evenly matched, and further conflict would have led to mutual destruction. That Huaxian man had also injected himself with C-class serum and wasn’t in great condition. So, they opted for a truce, likely to ensure their own survival.”

Fang Shihong frowned and glanced at his father, a sinister look flashing in his eyes.

Without warning, Fang Shihong drew a gun from beside him and aimed it at Chen Canrong’s head.

“Young Master!”

Chen Canrong’s eyes widened in terror as he fell to the ground, retreating frantically.

“Thank you for your years of service to Hongmen. After your death, I’ll ensure you have a grand funeral.”

“No, please…”

Cold sweat drenched Chen Canrong’s clothes, his face pale as snow.

“Is it just because of the failed mission?”

“No,” Fang Shihong said calmly. “It’s because you made a fatal mistake.”

Bang!

Fang Shihong didn’t give Chen Canrong another chance to speak, pulling the trigger without hesitation.

The deafening gunshot echoed through the villa, and Chen Canrong fell into a pool of blood.

“Come in!”

Fang Shihong called out.

Two guards outside the door entered after they were called.

They showed no reaction to the sight of Chen Canrong’s body.

To them, death was a commonplace event.

“Spread the word. Eliminate everyone who returned with Chen Canrong, and destroy their vehicles. Leave no traces behind.”

“Understood!”

“Take the body away and arrange for a burial plot.”

Following Fang Shihong’s orders, the two guards carried Chen Canrong’s body out and cleaned up the blood.

“Father, can you think of how the other party boarded the ship?” Fang Shihong asked.

Fang Dezhong shook his head. “I can’t think of anything at the moment.”

“Could they have come with the Sunrise Land Coast Guard?”

“Unlikely,” Fang Dezhong replied.

“Once they boarded, they went straight for our people, indicating they had a lead. I suspect that Huaxian man had already boarded before.”

“That’s precisely the issue.”

“Maybe he came up with the Central Guard Brigade people, and we just didn’t know.”

Fang Dezhong said. “The Central Guard Brigade is indeed full of talents. Despite our tight defenses, they managed to board the ship.”

Fang Shihong had a sullen expression.

“After such a big incident, has there been any news from the headquarters?”

“Not yet, but it should come soon,” Fang Dezhong replied.

“But I can guess their next move—they’ll want to retrieve the body of that Huaxian man.”

“Our people are already working on retrieving the information from the ship. We should have news soon,” Fang Shihong said.

“But why did the Sunrise Land Coast Guard get involved? Without them, the mission wouldn’t have failed.”

“Given the relationship between Huaxia and Sunrise Land, such cooperation is unlikely,” Fang Dezhong said.

“And considering they managed to fight Chen Canrong and his men to a draw, there must have been C and D-class operatives involved. This means there were other forces besides the Sunrise Land Coast Guard.”

Fang Shihong pondered for a moment. “Dad, are you suggesting another faction controlled the Sunrise Land authorities and made them deploy the Coast Guard?”

Fang Dezhong nodded. “In all of Sunrise Land, only the Mitsui, Mitsubishi, and Yasuda conglomerates could pull off something like this. My previous investigation revealed that the Mitsui Group has collaborated with Ji Qingyan’s Chaoyang Group, so the Mitsui family is highly suspect.”

“Mitsui family… If I remember correctly, Caie Mitsui is the current head of the Mitsui family,” Fang Shihong said.

“If it’s indeed them, we need to handle the Mitsui family.”

“No rush on that,” Fang Dezhong said.

“I’ve received word that headquarters plans to integrate the Yamaguchi-gumi in Sunrise Land. If that’s true, the headquarters will handle the Mitsui family.”

“Taking over the Yamaguchi-gumi?”

Fang Shihong was slightly surprised. The news was hard to believe.

“The Yamaguchi-gumi is Sunrise Land’s top underground organization with strong barriers to entry. Can headquarters penetrate it?”

“The Yamaguchi-gumi isn’t as glorious as it used to be. It’s a hollow shell now,” Fang Dezhong said.

“A hollow shell?”

Fang Dezhong nodded. “Recently, most of the Yamaguchi-gumi’s key members were killed, leaving the organization fragmented and fighting amongst themselves. This is a good opportunity. Once the integration is complete, we can deal with the Mitsui family.”

Fang Shihong leaned back in his chair, deep in thought.

“Our current mission is to find that man!”

At that moment, a car braked outside.

A man in a black suit walked in, carrying a laptop.

“President, Young Master, we’ve pulled the surveillance from the ship and identified the man.”

The man in the black suit opened the laptop and displayed the surveillance footage.

“It’s him!”

Fang Dezong was very surprised to see Lin Yi.

Judging from his expression, he didn’t expect Lin Yi to appear here.

“Do you know this person, Dad?”

“He’s Lin Yi, the team leader of Team 1 in the Central Guard Brigade and president of Zhonghai’s Lingyun Group.”

Fang Shihong hadn’t seen Lin Yi before but knew of him.

“Wasn’t he supposed to have died in Panem? How is he still alive?”

“The news of his death must have been faked. Witnesses likely thought he was killed in the explosion, but that wasn’t the case,” Fang Dezhong said darkly.

“But I suspect he’s not long for this world now. He should be dead soon,” Fang Shihong added.
