Chapter 1983: Abuse of Power

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

Hearing Lin Yi’s explanation, everyone understood his intentions.

It was necessary to leave two people behind to keep an eye on the situation in Shianggang.

About two hours later, Lin Yi’s condition improved, and the eight of them split up.

Yu Siying and Zhang Chaoyue stayed in Shianggang and continued to observe the situation there.

Lin Yi took the rest of the people and prepared to return to Yanjing.

On the way to the airport, Lin Yi received a message from Yu Siying.

Not long after the accident, the higher-ups of the Fang family and Hongmen arrived at the villa in the South District one after another.

There was a lot of commotion, and many police officers were mobilized. All of Shianggang was in an uproar.

These things were all within Lin Yi’s expectations.

About three hours later, Lin Yi and the others landed at Yanjing Airport.

It was already past two in the morning.

The person who came to pick them up was Tao Cheng, who was prepared to send them to the hotel.

When they returned to the hotel, it was almost four o’clock.

In the distant sky, the light of dawn lit up. A new day had begun, but Lin Yi had just finished washing up.

Although he still had to report to the base, Lin Yi didn’t care too much and prepared to sleep.

Reporting would have to wait until he was fully rested.

Ring ring ring!

At seven in the morning, Lin Yi’s phone rang. It was a video message from Yu Siying.

He looked at the background behind Yu Siying. She looked to be in the car. There was also a roaring sound beside her. Zhang Chaoyue should be driving.

“Boss, there’s been a new discovery.”

“Take your time. Don’t rush.”

“After the Fang father and son passed, they built a mourning hall outside. The two of us blended into the crowd. Just half an hour ago, we encountered a suspicious black man. He had been negotiating with Li Zhenquan, the vice president of the Hong family. However, their discussion was very secretive, so we didn’t find overhear any useful information.”

The black man was none other than Evans, one of the grand wardens of the Freemasons.

Last night, he and Walker had already boarded a flight to Sunrise Land.

He was prepared to teach Caie Mitsui’s parents a lesson and integrate the Yamaguchi-gumi together to become another stronghold of the Freemasons in Terra.

However, he did not expect to receive a notification from Li Zhenquan not long after he flew to Toyo.

The Fang father and son had both died in the villa.

Both Evans and Walker were shocked by the news.

In their eyes, as long as the Fang father and son were in Shianggang, such a thing would not happen.

The only possibility was that the Central Guards Brigade had come looking for them!

Otherwise, no one would be able to kill the Fang father and son without anyone noticing!

For this reason, Evans left Walker in Toyo and returned to Shianggang to deal with the follow-up matters and report to the headquarters.

“Why do you say that the other party was very suspicious?”

“According to Hongmen’s rules, after Fang Dezong’s death, the person with real power is Vice President Li Zhenquan. Normally, he should be in charge of all matters, but that mysterious black man has been commanding Li Zhenquan to carry out many things. This is very wrong.” Yu Siying said.

“And Li Zhenquan spoke to him with great respect and courtesy. If there were no power dynamics between them, it’s unlikely Li Zhenquan would behave that way given his status.”

Lin Yi didn’t respond immediately but remained silent for a long time.

Yu Siying’s speculation, though not theoretically supported, was not baseless.

Given the current situation, after Fang Dezhong’s death, Li Zhenquan would naturally take over the position of Hongmen’s leader.

Once in that position, it would mean immense power and endless wealth.

In other words, now was Li Zhenquan’s time to shine, and he had no reason to curry favor with anyone.

Therefore, Yu Siying’s guess was plausible.

The identity of that black man was indeed suspicious.

“Where are you now? Are you preparing to leave?”

“We’re heading to the funeral home for the memorial service to see if we can find any other useful information.”

“Keep an eye out. I’ll come to support you if necessary.”

“Roger that!”

After hanging up the phone, Lin Yi lay back down to catch up on sleep, sleeping until noon.

If it weren’t for Ning Che pulling off his blanket, Lin Yi would have slept until the afternoon.

“Pulling someone out of bed in the middle of the day, you’re really something.”

“You just sleep too much.”

Ning Che lit a cigarette. “I thought you’d be heading to the base this morning, but you’re still sleeping.”

“I got back around four in the morning and had a fight with an old C-class guy. Now my back aches, and my bones feel like they’re falling apart.”

“I heard about what happened in Shianggang. Just after reaching C-class, you took down an old peak C-class guy. You’re really something.”

“In truth, I’m not that capable. It’s just that the C-class serum is still in my body. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to defeat him.”

Lin Yi knew his body very well.

There were many factors involved in defeating Dai Yongxiang.

The main reason was that the C-class serum had not been metabolized in his body.

His internal organs and bodily functions were stimulated, and he unleashed all his potential. Only then did he barely defeat Dai Yongxiang.

Otherwise, even if he could defeat him, his condition would be much worse than it was. He might have even broken his arms and legs.

“That can also indirectly show your level.”

“Alright, let’s not talk about me.”

Lin Yi stretched and sat up on the bed.

“You came to see me at noon. Is there something going on at the base?”

“We mainly need your experimental samples. You’ll need to come with us.”

“Huh? Experimental samples?”

“You were injected with the C-class serum, and it hasn’t fully metabolized yet. These are valuable for research. As a former doctor, you should understand the importance of this.”

“They must have collected my blood sample while I was unconscious.”

“Yes, we did collect a blood sample, but it’s far from enough.”

“Not enough?”

Ning Che gave Lin Yi a mischievous look.

“We also need your urine and precious liquid samples.”

With that, Ning Che pounced on the bed, wedging herself between Lin Yi’s legs.

“What the f*ck are you doing!?”

“You can handle the urine sample yourself. I’m here to help with the other sample.”

“Damn!” Lin Yi swore. “This is an abuse of power.”

“So what? Who’s going to stop me?”

About an hour later, Ning Che wiped her mouth and got off the bed, looking satisfied.

“My task is complete. You can handle the urine sample yourself.”

“Damn,” Lin Yi cursed.

“If you’re not feeling well, I can help you with that,” Ning Che said shamelessly.

“No thanks, I’ll handle it myself. I’m afraid you won’t be able to hold it steady.”
