Chapter 1949: A life-or-death mission

“Carrying contraband?” Chen Canrong was surprised. He did not expect such a thing to happen.

Under normal circumstances, even if someone was really carrying contraband, they would search and do the search when they stopped the ship. They would not take action at this time.

“Have we already sailed into the waters of Sunrise Land?”

“We are about 11 nautical miles away from the shore, so the coast guard from Sunrise Land is here to do the search. This is in accordance with international maritime law.”

Chen Canrong frowned. He felt that there was an indescribable strangeness in this matter.

He had brought his team onto the ship via helicopter. Despite the crew’s pre-boarding arrangements, this ship was still primarily for tourists.

From the surface, he appeared to be just another passenger on this ship, without absolute control.

So, no matter how the Sunrise Land Coast Guard conducted their inspection, there was no reason for his side to resist.

However, he felt a bit surprised and suspicious about the situation.

“Could this be the work of the Central Guard Brigade?” Harris speculated.

Given the current standoff, it was reasonable to suspect the Central Guard Brigade.

“On the surface, it doesn’t seem likely.”

Chen Canrong replied.

“The relationship between Sunrise Land and Huaxia is very delicate, and this isn’t an international incident. The Central Guard Brigade has no reason to act this way; it would affect their international reputation. Additionally, due to the chip incident in recent years, Sunrise Land has been following Meiguo’s lead, causing tension between the two countries. It’s unlikely they would seek Sunrise Land’s help for such a matter.”

“But it’s strange for something like this to happen at such a critical moment.”

Chen Canrong nodded, agreeing with Harris.

“Don’t rush. I’ll call the young master to confirm this.”

Soon, Chen Canrong dialed Fang Shihong’s number and briefed him on the situation.

The call was short, only a minute long, before it was disconnected.

About twenty minutes later, Fang Shihong called back.

This call lasted much longer, about five to six minutes, before ending.

“What did the young master say?” Harris asked.

“The young master used his connections to contact the Sunrise Land authorities. They did indeed discover contraband aboard, and the amount is substantial, which is why they are doing this.”

“Then it must be a coincidence.”

Chen Canrong nodded, his anxiety easing considerably.

“The Coast Guard will likely board soon. Do we need to prepare?”

“Spread our people out for the inspection,” Chen Canrong instructed.

“You, Li Qiangsheng, Xu Jiahao, and I will guard the hostage. Disperse the rest of the men to avoid arousing suspicion.”

“What about Joey and Martin? Adding those two should be fine,” Harris suggested.

“They’re also C-class. If the five of us guard the hostage, it would be much safer.”

“You three are all foreigners. If you gather with me, it will easily draw suspicion,” Chen Canrong said.

“The Sunrise Land Coast Guard is here to check for contraband, and foreigners like you would be prime suspects in the eyes of Terrans. If your Huaxian wasn’t so fluent, I wouldn’t have kept you in 1408.”

Harris shrugged. “Alright, we’ll do as you say.”

Chen Canrong continued, “Have Joey and Martin go to 1406. The others should disperse as much as possible. During the inspection, cooperate fully to avoid unnecessary conflicts.”

“Understood.”

All of Chen Canrong’s men were C-class!

For Lin Yi, even with the help of Mitsui retainers, this mission was extremely dangerous!

Ring ring ring!

In room 1348, Lin Yi heard his phone ringing in his pocket and took it out.

It was a call from Kenji Nakata.

“Mr. Lin, we’re about to board the ship. I’ve arranged everything as you instructed. Where should we meet?”

“After boarding, come to room 1348. We’ll act together. Also, bring me a set of your uniforms for easier movement. Hurry.”

“Understood. We’ll board in ten minutes. Please be ready.”

“Looking forward to working with you.”

After hanging up, Lin Yi straightened his clothes and quietly opened the door, preparing for Nakata’s arrival.

A few minutes later, he heard sirens outside. Lin Yi walked to the window and saw four Coast Guard boats surrounding the Victoria. It wouldn’t be long before they boarded.

At that moment, the ship’s PA system announced the inspection.

They advised passengers not to panic and clarified that the inspectors were not pirates.

About ten minutes later, the Sunrise Land Coast Guard began boarding.

Lin Yi stood at the door, patiently waiting for Kenji Nakata.

Time passed slowly, accompanied by chaotic footsteps outside. Suddenly, the door opened without warning, and a medium-built man with short hair, wearing a Coast Guard uniform, entered the room.

In an instant, a cold light flashed as Lin Yi’s scalpel was pressed against the other party’s neck.

The latter immediately raised his hands. “Mr. Lin?”

“Kenji Nakada?”

“That’s me.”

Lin Yi heaved a sigh of relief. “Sorry.”

“It’s fine,” Nakada said. “These are the clothes I prepared for you. Our men will be ready in a moment and ready to move.”

“Good!”

Lin Yi took the Coast Guard uniform and a gun from Kenji Nakada.

In less than a minute, Lin Yi put on his clothes and said,

“Gather the skilled fighters and focus on rooms 1406 and 1408.”

“Anything else you need, just let me know.”

“In 1406, there are two foreigners, a man and a woman. They’re highly skilled. First, approach them. I’ll handle the man, and you take care of the woman.”

“Understood!”

Lin Yi nodded. “Let’s begin!”

With the plan set, they left the room together.

By this time, the Sunrise Land Coast Guard had started their inspection on the 13th floor, going room by room.

Lin Yi and Kenji Nakata merged into the crowd and joined the other Mitsui retainers, heading up to the 14th floor.

Unlike the other floors, the 14th was unusually quiet, as if they had stepped into another world.

The group carefully approached room 1406.

Lin Yi took a deep breath and glanced at Kenji Nakata.

“Move!”
