Chapter 1926: Seeking Justice

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

“You, what are you doing?!”

“You’re about to find out.”

Ma Anong walked to the bed, grabbed the blanket under Sun Peipei, and pulled it up with all his might.

Sun Peipei, who was lying on it, lost her balance and fell to the ground with a thud.

At this moment, her hand was still connected to the IV needle. With Ma Anong’s actions, the IV needle made a long cut on her blood vessel.

What followed was Sun Peipei’s scream.

Seeing his daughter being pushed to the ground by Ma Anyong, Sun Fu’s eyes turned red.

It was unknown where he got the strength from, but he roared and stood up forcefully under the siege of more than ten people.

Sun Fu picked up the iron chair beside him and threw it at the bodyguard beside him.

The dozen or so people did not expect Sun Fu to suddenly erupt with so much strength.

They subconsciously retreated and distanced themselves from him.

“I’ll f*cking kill you!”

Sun Fu waved the chair at the bodyguards like a madman.

At this moment, he was like a vicious dog that had lost its mind.

He did not know who he should hit. He just wanted to chase all of them away!

“F*ck you!”

Ma Anon seized the opportunity to pick up another chair and threw it at Sun Fu from the side.

In an instant, Sun Fu was hit so hard that his head was bleeding, and he lay on the ground, unable to move.

“Father!”

“Old Sun!”

Han Guizhi crawled over to Sun Fu.

She used her body to shield him.

“Stop hitting! Stop hitting! I’ll sign.”

“Stubborn old sh*ts. If you had signed the settlement earlier, none of this would have happened.”

With that, Zhang Xuewen threw a pen and ink pad over.

Trembling, Han Guizhi signed her name and pressed her fingerprint, tears streaming down her face.

Picking up the settlement agreement from the ground, Zhang Wenlai cursed.

“People like you don’t deserve to be in Zhonghai. Get out of here. And as for your daughter, she better not stay in school, or I’ll have my son beat her to death!”

After cursing them harshly, Zhang Wenlai felt much better and left the hospital with his men.

The once quiet hospital room was now filled with cries.

…

Night fell, and in Liang Ruoxu’s home, the two of them were cuddled together, watching TV on the sofa.

For Liang Ruoxu, this was a rare moment of peace, which she cherished immensely.

But this peaceful scene was abruptly interrupted by a phone call.

“Officer Lin, this is Wang Li from Second Hospital. The Sun family is in trouble. Can you come over?”

Lin Yi’s heart tightened, and his nerves tensed up.

“What happened? Tell me slowly.”

“Just now, a group of people came, demanding the Sun family sign a settlement agreement. The Sun family refused, and then they started beating them up. The situation here is quite chaotic. If you can, please come over with your colleagues.”

“Okay, I’m on my way.”

After hanging up, Liang Ruoxu saw that Lin Yi didn’t look too good and stood up.

“What happened?”

“There’s something urgent. I have to go out.”

“When will you be back? I’ll wait for you.”

“I can’t say for sure. Why don’t you go to bed? I’ve got a key anyway.”

Liang Ruoxu nodded. “Drive slowly on the road. No matter how urgent it is, safety is the priority.”

“Don’t worry, I got it.”

Lin Yi nodded and left with his car keys. He rushed to Zhonghai Second Hospital immediately.

Standing at the door of the room, Lin Yi’s expression darkened.

The Sun couple’s heads were wrapped in gauze, and so were Sun Peipei’s hands. Wang Li was beside her, doing a checkup for her.

“Officer, you’re here.”

Seeing Lin Yi enter, Wang Li went over to greet him.

“Is everyone gone?”

“They left twenty minutes ago,” Wang Li said.

“Those people wanted the family to sign a settlement agreement. When negotiations failed, they started a fight and beat them like this.”

“How are they doing?”

“They all have external injuries, accompanied by mild concussions, but the situation is not too serious.”

Lin Yi nodded, then looked at Han Guizhi, who was still conscious. “Did you sign the settlement agreement?”

“If we didn’t sign it, my husband would have been beaten to death,” Han Guizhi said, wiping her tears.

“Even if you signed it, it doesn’t matter. I’ll help you handle this matter, don’t worry.”

“Officer, you mustn’t let them get away with this. They’re too much, they’re completely lawless.”

“Don’t worry, I guarantee on my uniform that I will get justice for you.”

“Thank you so much, Officer.”

“It’s my duty.”

“You should rest well now. Leave the rest to me.”

After speaking, Lin Yi walked out of the ward and called Wang Li out as well.

“The hospital should have surveillance cameras, right? Can you take me to see the footage?”

“The surveillance is in the security office. I’ll take you there.”

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

Soon, Wang Li led Lin Yi to the security office and retrieved the surveillance footage.

Lin Yi wanted to check the surveillance not just to understand the incident but to find clues to locate those people.

In the surveillance footage, Lin Yi saw the car that Zhang Wenlai and others were driving.

Although the picture was a bit blurry, it didn’t prevent him from seeing the license plate number.

With this information, finding them wouldn’t be difficult.

“Hey, buddy, I don’t have a USB drive on me. Could you make a copy for me? I’ll have someone come pick it up tomorrow.”

“There’s no need to go through so much trouble. We’re not busy. I’ll just get you one.”

The hospital was very cooperative because the police were here to handle the case.

“Sorry to trouble you.”

“It’s our duty.”

About ten minutes later, the surveillance footage was copied into the USB drive, and Lin Yi was about to leave.

However, after taking a few steps, Lin Yi stopped and turned to look at Wang Li.

“By the way, how much are their medical fees?”

“All the money is spent, and they already owe more than 3,000 yuan.”

Wang Li looked troubled. She knew the situation of the Sun family.

However, public and private matters had to be separated and medical expenses still needed to be paid.

“How much more will the follow-up treatment cost?”

“Probably another 5,000 yuan.”

“Give me your payment code,” Lin Yi said, taking out his phone. “I’ll transfer 10,000 yuan. Consider it their medical expenses, and help me pass it on to them.”

Lin Yi’s action moved Wang Li. It showed that there were still good people in society.

After transferring the money, Lin Yi left the hospital, got back in his car, and called Chen Bingqiang.

“Chief Chen, are you resting?”

“Not yet, just watching TV with my family. Is there something wrong?”

Although very few people knew about Lin Yi’s supposed death, Chen Bingqiang was one of them.

However, later, there was an official notice stating it was fake news, so Chen Bingqiang didn’t dwell on it.

Therefore, when he received Lin Yi’s call, he wasn’t too surprised.

“I have a tricky case involving a lot of people. The sub-bureau is having a hard time handling it. I want to ask for your help with the investigation.”
