“I know. That’s why we had dinner together.”

Lin Yi shook Song Yuzhen’s hand in response.

“I’m glad you think so.”

“My mother is okay, but my father hasn’t remained peaceful all these years, right?”

“You didn’t meet him?” Lu Beichen asked.

Lin Yi shook his head. “I met one of his subordinates, an A-class guy.”

Lu Beichen’s expression was calm. He was not surprised at all.

“I have a very deep personal relationship with your family. We still remained in contact during the years after he left, but after he made a name for himself, his identity became much more sensitive, and we interacted less. If Little Shen hadn’t come to us last year and said that he had seen your mother, I would have thought that the two of them had already died.”

“In other words, you don’t know how far he has gone?”

“I don’t know. I can only guess.” Lu Beichen ate peanuts and drank wine at the same time. He remained at ease.

“Your dad is a very ambitious person. If he decides to do something, he’ll take it to the extreme. Although 1 don’t know how far he’s gotten, the world stage definitely has a place for him.”

“It’s said that those organizations abroad have a ranking. How high could he rank?”

Lin Yi had previously heard from Ning Che that organizations like Black Gold Corporation couldn’t even make it into the top twenty, so he was quite curious about these matters.

“Don’t just look at what’s on the surface. Anything that can be exposed to the public eye is not substantial,” Lu Beichen said.

“From what 1 know, there are several hidden organizations constantly engaged in illegal activities, all coveting Tilia Island. This is a place capable of altering the world’s geopolitical landscape.”

“Speaking of this, Lu Beichen paused for a moment. Whoever can snatch that place will be the king of the war zone!”

Lin Yi’s expression was solemn. He did not expect Lu Beichen to tell him such secretive information.

“Based on the current situation, if anyone wants to get involved, they will attack together, right?”

“That’s the theory.”

“Theory?”

“The power of a private organization will not be as great as a country, but at the national level, there are many restrictions. Therefore, the two sides have spawned cooperation in the dark. This way, there will be a certain connection between the different parties. However, identifying who exactly to attack and who to defend against remains unclear.”

“What about us? Did we do the same thing?”

“No, we didn’t.”

Lu Beichen sighed. “Come on, let me toast you.”

“No, I can’t let you do that.”

Lin Yi deliberately lowered his glass. Whether it was for business or personal reasons, he did not have the right to make Lu Beichen toast.

“The biggest card in my hand is actually your father.” Lu Beichen sighed.

“For so many years, we’ve had no contact, nor could 1 possibly have offered him any help. But given his nature, if one day he achieves something significant, he will surely stand by my side. To some extent, we are on the same side, we just need to disregard all that external interest. Thus, you can consider it as me having taken advantage of your family.”

“It’s good that you know this.” Song Yuzhen grumbled.

“I was oblivious back then. Had 1 known that Little Liu had gone to see him, 1 would never have allowed him into the Zhongwei Brigade. Wouldn’t it have been good to just safely do business?”

“That’s fate. I can’t control it,” Lu Beichen said.

“Besides, if he stuck to small business, he would have ultimately been under someone else’s control. If the Lin family was so well behaved, his father wouldn’t have gone and killed someone back in the day.”

Song Yuzhen did not say anything, but she still felt a little resentful.

“Have a sip.” Lu Beichen raised his glass again. After saying these words to Lin Yi, he felt much better.

Buzz buzz buzz!

Lin Yi’s phone rang.

It was a message from Ji Qingyan.

“What happened?”

“I called Mother Wang, but she said you didn’t go back. Where did you go?”

“I’m here to see an old boss.”

“Are you kidding me?” Ji Qingyan rolled her eyes at Lin Yi. “Did you go out drinking and fooling around again?”

Lin Yi chuckled. “I’m indeed drinking, but I’m not fooling around.”

Lin Yi turned the camera and aimed it at Lu Beichen and Song Yuzhen.

Ji Qingyan was stunned. She didn’t expect Lin Yi to eat with such an old couple.

“Who are these two?”

“It’s not convenient for me to reveal to you his exact identity, but this old man’s name is Lu Beichen. Check on Baidu and you’ll be able to find out more.”

Although Lu Beichen had many hidden identities, she could only dig up what was available on the internet. This was enough to shock her.

This saved Lin Yi a lot of trouble, since there was no way Ji Qingyan would misunderstand.

“Then you can eat first. I won’t disturb you anymore.”

Ji Qingyan was a little flustered. Generally speaking, people who could be found on Baidu were not ordinary citizens.

“Okay, I’ll call you when I’m done.”

“Huh? Oh right, you didn’t go empty-handed, right?”

“No.” Lu Beichen replied.

“He bought a box of pure milk and a box of cherries. The total adds up to less than 300 yuan.”

Ji Qingyan’s face darkened. “I’m really impressed. I’ll teach you a lesson when you come back!”

After hanging up, Lin Yi said,

“You’re so mean. You exposed my shortcomings the moment she called.”

“Then tell me, who would dare to come to my house and buy such a cheap thing?”

“I bought these because you don’t lack anything.” Lin Yi said.

“A few days ago, when I was in Dongsan County, I sent wine to a leader who treated me well, but he refused. He said that those two bottles of wine would get him sentenced to ten years in prison, so I was doing this for your own good.”

“Kid, I’m surprised you are being cheeky with me.” Lu Beichen said.

“Is that little girl your girlfriend?”

Lin Yi nodded. “She looks okay, right?”

“She’s not bad.” Song Yuzhen said, “She’s about the same age as your mother back then. She’s very likable.”

Lin Yi chuckled proudly.

The subsequent drinking session between the two revolved around Lin Yi, with Lu Beichen providing him with several pointers, offering very precise guidance.

Without daring to say too much, just these few pieces of advice alone were enough to create several more billionaires.

At around one in the evening, Lin Yi bade farewell to Lu Beichen’s house.

Because of the cold weather, Lin Yi rejected Song Yuzhen’s offer to send him off and left alone.

“Tell me, what’s his relationship with Ruoxu?” Song Yuzhen asked.

“You’re really worrying too much. This is their business. Why do you care?”

“But he already has a girlfriend, and he’s still so close to Ruoxu. Sooner or later, something will happen.”

“This isn’t something the two of us should worry about. Let the youngsters handle their own matters.” Lu Beichen chuckled.

Although he was on good terms with the Liang family, he had no intention of getting involved in this matter.

However, in Lu Beichen’s opinion, this matter might bring Lin Yi quite a bit of trouble.

The result all depended on whether Lin Yi could handle it well..
