Chapter 398 Curse

Elsewhere, in a small grotto-heaven in the human world.

A golden-armored envoy stood there, while Nine Abyss and the North Sense took the initiative to welcome him. They bowed respectfully. “Envoy.”

“Nine Abyss, you know what the Imperial Lords have instructed you to do, right?” asked the golden-armored envoy.

“I understand,” said Nine Abyss respectfully.

“Yes.”

The golden-armored envoy flipped his hand and took out a long, crystalline box. He handed it to Nine Abyss. “This is yours. Don’t disappoint the Imperial Lord.”

Nine Abyss’s eyes burned as he looked at the box. He received it excitedly and said, “The Imperial Lords can rest assured. I will definitely do my best.”

He had been looking forward to it for too long. Even though he had infiltrated the human world and had restored his strength to that of a demon sage, he was the only true demon sage in the human world. The Blood Fiend Armor had been the most precious item the Imperial Lord had given him.

Inside the box… was a treasure that he had been longing for. It was a legendary treasure amongst demons.

I never expected that I would obtain this treasure ahead of time because of Meng Chuan. Nine Abyss thought to himself, Regardless of whether the Imperial Lords’ plan succeeds or fails, I have at least obtained what I wanted. I hope everything goes smoothly. Meng Chuan should just die without a fuss.

“North Sense.” The golden-armored envoy instructed, “From now on, you will temporarily take over this small grotto-heaven. You will temporarily command all the demons in the human world.”

“Yes,” North Sense replied respectfully.

Nine Abyss and North Sense did a handover as the golden-armored envoy left.

“I’ll leave these mortal matters to you, Brother North Sense.” Demon Sage Nine Abyss left with a smile on his face. North Sense was secretly puzzled. What plan was it executing? Why would Nine Abyss be mobilized?

Emperor Roc had secretly deployed him as a backup plan for killing Meng Chuan. To the three demon Imperial Lords, they had to kill Meng Chuan at all costs. They were putting in their best effort this time.

The Demon Realm.

Emperor Roc came to Lady Blackmoon’s side as they watched Imperial Lord Starquix write the incantations.

“Are you ready?” asked Lady Blackmoon.

“According to our plans, everything is ready,” said Emperor Roc. “We have done everything we can to deal with Meng Chuan across worlds. If we fail this time, we really won’t be able to do anything to Meng Chuan.” Lady Blackmoon shook her head. “It’s impossible for us to fail! Our preparations have been very meticulous. In fact, it’s very likely that we will succeed considering how Imperial Lord Starquix is using 100 years of his lifespan to carry out the curse. Our other preparations might be unnecessary.” “A hundred years of lifespan? Shouldn’t we have Starquix consume more of his lifespan? For example, 200 years or 300 years?” said Emperor Roc.

“We need to pay several times the price, or even ten times the price before he agrees.” Lady Blackmoon shook her head and said, “Besides, to be honest, the effects of consuming 100 years of lifespan and 200 years of lifespan aren’t too different. The potency of the curse can only increase by 20 to 30 percent at most. If we want the curse’s power to undergo a qualitative change, Starquix will have to consume 1,000 years of his lifespan. This is something Starquix would never agree to.”

To an Imperial Lord with a 10,000-year lifespan-100 years was like a year to a mortal. Even for mortals, how many of them would easily give up a year of their lifespan?

If an Imperial Lord lived for 100 more years, they might break through to the Tribulation realm in the final century! Their lifespans would increase greatly as a result.

Therefore, not only did the lifespans of Imperial Lords indicate their lives, but they also represented a chance of breaking through. If they really encountered a huge threat, the three Imperial Lords’ plans might be foiled because of Meng Chuan. Therefore, Imperial Lord Starquix was willing to spend 100 years of his lifespan to carry out a curse. Otherwise, he would definitely not be willing to consume his lifespan if he could make the demon monarchs risk their lives instead.

Even if ten demon sages died, how could they compare to him consuming 100 years of lifespan? “Alright.” Emperor Roc nodded. “It was already very difficult to make Starquix carry out the attack. I hope everything goes smoothly.”

“It will be successful. That human, Meng Chuan, will definitely die without any resistance. He’ll die instantly,” said Lady Blackmoon. Her eyes were filled with anticipation.

Days passed.

Daily, Imperial Lord Starquix wrote incantations on the black disc every two hours. The incantations were condensed with blood. In fact, they were infused with Imperial Lord Starquix’s lifespan. After paying a huge price, the incantations were powerful enough to kill Meng Chuan across worlds.

Finally, it was the ninth day.

Emperor Roc and Lady Blackmoon, who were watching silently from the side, were somewhat nervous. The time of the attack was here. If they succeeded, it would be ten times easier to conquer the human world. If they failed, it would be very difficult to conquer the human world.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Imperial Lord Starquix calmly finished writing the last incantation.

At that moment, he could sense the distant young man’s appearance 1,000 times clearer than before. The karmic connection between the two rapidly strengthened.

“Die!” Imperial Lord Starquix softly read the incantation on the black disc. It was also the first time he was speaking since he started writing the incantation for nine days. At the same time, he tapped his finger on the black disc.

Bang!!!

A terrifying attack pierced through the mysterious and profound karma and instantly flew out of the demon world. It passed through the human world’s obstruction and flew into the Great Zhou Dynasty’s Jiang State Capital – where Meng Chuan was.

The world’s obstruction was extremely strong!

Normally, Imperial Lords’ attacks wouldn’t be able to penetrate another world, but it was a different story when one attacked through karma. In the vast River of Spacetime, countless cultivators were bound by karma. Tribulation Eminences often killed their enemies through karma-it was a common move for them. No matter how far one hid, no matter how special the place they were hiding in was, one would only be able to weaken the karma slightly, unable to truly isolate it. Even Ancestral Master Archean Eon and Eminence Fei Yu were unable to isolate karma from themselves.

Karma was inevitable in life.

Of course, as a middle-level world, the human world greatly suppressed any attacks through karmic connections.

If it wasn’t weakened? An Imperial Lord could kill a Regis Godfiend without expending his lifespan.

Boom!

After nine days of praying, Starquix cast a curse that descended upon Meng Chuan.

Meng Chuan was studying Lightning Realm and Three World Saber in his chamber. At night, he would spend quite a bit of time studying the two ultimate techniques he had obtained. His daytime was dedicated to hunting demon monarchs. He had gained a lot from these two ultimate techniques.

He didn’t notice Imperial Lord Starquix’s daily “prayer.”

Only when the entire incantation was completed did the karmic connection between them strengthen. Meng Chuan vaguely felt fear and panic.

What happened? This thought surfaced in Meng Chuan’s mind.

Boom!

Just as he had this thought, the curse descended.

The curse was too bizarre; it was invisible and formless. Meng Chuan didn’t even know how to block it.

Hng.

Blood flowed from Meng Chuan’s nostrils. He couldn’t help but open his eyes. His eyes were filled with shock.

Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!

Hideous wounds appeared on Meng Chuan’s body. Blood instantly dyed his robe red. His organs began to rupture. Following that, Meng Chuan’s consciousness rumbled. He felt his vision blur.
