Chapter 288 Beginning

The afterglow of the setting sun shone on North River Pass’s city walls. North River Pass was silent. Many weeds in the city were gently swaying in the breeze.

At North River Pass’s inner city pass, the World Entrance—which was about a kilometer long and a quarter-kilometer wide

-remained calm. Suddenly, without any warning, dozens of demon monarchs rushed out. All of them were extremely vigilant as they tried their best not to make a sound. Most of these demon monarchs were at the second Firmament. Only seven were third Firmament demon monarchs.

A goat demon monarch stood at the exit and looked in all directions. He waved his hand slightly, and demon monarchs immediately surged out from the World Entrance.

The demon monarchs entered the human world en masse.

“We can’t let any more in any longer. If more come in, they will split up and flee. It’ll be difficult for me to intercept them when there’s so many of them.” A mustached man with a weed dangling from the corner of his mouth walked out of the ground without any warning. He stood under the inner city pass. With a wave of his hand, 36 saber beams flew out from his hand. They enveloped his surroundings.

Every saber beam was as fast as a mirage. Horrified, the demon monarchs did not even have time to dodge. All their heads were penetrated.

The saber beams whistled as they stayed within a kilometer of the mustached man. In the blink of an eye, more than 100 demon monarchs—that had charged in—were killed.

“Marquis Thousand Shadows.” The goat demon monarch’s expression changed drastically. He immediately retreated and fled into the World Entrance behind him.

“One hundred and thirty-five demon monarchs. Two escaped into the World Entrance.” Marquis Thousand Shadow’s expression suddenly changed when he saw this scene.

Rumble…

His surroundings suddenly distorted as it transformed into a flaming world. The billowing heatwaves distorted as two blurry figures charged over. They were two greater demon monarchs adept at close combat. Even illusions attacked his Essence Soul.

An ambush. Marquis Thousand Shadow’s expression changed. Instantly, he was attacked from all directions. Since six fourth Firmament demon monarchs had formed a team, it was only natural that they had great teamwork and strengths that complement one another. Even though a Marquis Godfiend’s Darkstar domain was impressive, it was difficult to withstand the attacks of six fourth Firmament demon monarchs.

Black Sand Dynasty, Edge Star City—a city with over ten million people.

The people in the city were still living peaceful lives. They had no idea that a devastating battle was about to begin.

Inside a manor within the city, a silver-haired old woman and a middle-aged man sat opposite each other, drinking tea as they waited.

“The sun is about to set. The demons aren’t here yet.” A silver-haired old woman put down her teacup and said, “According to the sect’s intelligence, the demons won’t delay for long. They should attack very soon.”

“Senior Sister, the ones who should be anxious are the demons,” said the middle-aged man with a smile. “Although a million demon monarchs and countless demons have been mobilized, they are all gathered at the various World Entrances. It’s impossible for them to keep waiting there.”

“Eh?” The middle-aged man’s expression changed as he looked towards the east. “The demon monarchs are here.”

The silver-haired old woman was alarmed as well. “They’re here?”

They immediately flew up and saw the distant eastern city walls tremble. Many buildings collapsed, and many mortals died. Large amounts of blood dyed the area red.

“Hahaha, human Godfiends, die!”

“Where are the human Godfiends?” “Are they afraid?”

Five figures appeared at the eastern city wall. The biggest ones were a 300-foot-tall silver-furred ape and an elephant demon. The elephant demon took human form and held two huge axes. A bird also transformed into lightning as it randomly shot lightning at the buildings. A petite cat demon monarch floated in the air, not hurried to take action. Lastly, a turtle demon monarch walked behind the four.

The aftershocks of their attacks killed the surrounding mortals. They followed the normal way demons usually fought. They only had to kill mortals for the Godfiends to appear! If Godfiends didn’t stop them, they would kill all mortal humans in the city! If Godfiends did appear, they would kill them!

“You are tempting fate.” The silver-haired old woman instantly transformed into a sword beam and charged over. In terms of strength, the old woman was no weaker than a Regis Godfiend. However, she was unable to break through because her body was too old. When she used forbidden spells, her combat strength was comparable to an ordinary Regis Godfiend.

Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish!

Dozens of sword beams appeared as they shot towards the five greater demon monarchs.

“Senior Sister, I’ll help you.” The middle-aged man also streaked through the air. Metal balls appeared around him as they rapidly disintegrated into countless metal threads. These metal threads flew in all directions, covering a radius of 2.5 kilometers. They formed a terrifying battle domain for the old woman. The middle-aged man was a Marquis Godfiend of Black Sand Grotto-Heaven’s Halberd Hall. He naturally had impressive techniques and equipment.

“Senior Sister, be careful. On the surface, there are five demon monarchs. There’s another one hidden,” said the middle-aged man with a voice transmission.

“Die!” The silver-haired old woman’s voice echoed in the world. Dozens of sword beams flashed; it seemed like they had teleported to a spot near the five demon monarchs.

Although they were only two Marquis Godfiends, their combined strength was no less than the six fourth Firmament demon monarchs.

They have clashed. On the crown of a tree outside Edge Star City stood a fifth Firmament scorpion demon monarch. He stood there calmly with his aura completely restrained. The light around him distorted. Even a Regis Godfiend would find it difficult to discover him if he deliberately lurked outside their Seamless domain.

The scorpion greater demon monarch watched from afar as his long scorpion tail slowly swayed.

Two Marquis Godfiends? The scorpion greater demon monarch smiled. Since they aren’t Regis Godfiends, I can attack them.

With a whoosh, he vanished and quietly approached the two Marquis Godfiends.

The demons were in the shadows while the humans were out in the open.

Scattered across the world, the demon monarch teams followed Demon Sage Nine Abyss’s orders and launched attacks on cities. Be it Duyang City, Chu An City, or Eastcalm City; demons attacked them simultaneously.

Chu An City. The bell tower in the middle of the city would ring in the morning. Meng Chuan sat on top of the roof of the bell tower as he drank. Since last night, he had been in Chu An City because it was close to both the other cities he was assigned to. The sun is almost setting. Meng Chuan glanced at the sun. He could still see half of the setting sun. The western half of the sky was dyed red. Are the demons waiting for night to fall before they attack, or are they attacking at an even later time?

Huh? Meng Chuan suddenly jolted upright. He looked towards the northern city wall. He could sense demonic powers erupting clearly.

The battle has begun? Meng Chuan’s eyes lit up. He had been waiting for this moment ever since he received his transfer orders. The battle had finally begun! We have to win this battle! Failure is not an option! Meng Chuan’s speed soared to the limit. The moment he sensed the demonic power, he immediately rushed toward the northern city wall.

The area around the northern city wall suddenly exploded. An area spanning 1.5 kilometers was attacked. A large number of buildings collapsed, and there were many casualties. One could hear wails and screams.

Meng Chuan could see the 1.5-kilometer area dyed red with his naked eye. It was the color of blood.

In a flash, Meng Chuan arrived. He instantly used his Essence Soul weapon, Soul-Buster Bell.

Clang! Clang! Clang! The Essence Soul weapon, Soul-Buster Bell, came out of his body and floated beside Meng Chuan. It was invisible to the naked eye. The Soul-Buster Bell sounded as it attacked the fourth Firmament demon monarchs rushing in from every direction.

This battle needs to be concluded quickly. Meng Chuan knew his responsibilities and what needed to be done.
