Immortality Through Array Formations

Chapter 2496: Chapter 19: Karma Gui Tao

The cultivator clad in a black robe, with an eerie aura and indistinct voice, was hard to identify. He rasped:

”The great event is imminent, one must not rashly calculate cause and effect.”

The Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect spoke solemnly:

”Two elders and six disciples from the Canglang Sect have disappeared inexplicably; very likely, they were silenced through murder. Among these two elders, one is my nephew...”

”The person acting in the shadows possesses remarkable cultivation and extraordinary methods.”

”I suspect that this person is not only targeting the Canglang Sect but also me.”

”If their identity is not uncovered, I fear the killer...”

The Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect’s gaze darkened, ”...will be a major threat.”

The so-called ”major threat” was not explicitly stated, but the black-robed cultivator evidently understood.

His expression instantly turned serious, and after pondering for a moment, he slowly nodded:

”Very well, before the major plan, caution and thoroughness are natural imperatives, negligence is not allowed.”

”I will perform a divination.”

The black-robed cultivator glanced at the Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect and asked, ”Do you have your nephew’s belongings?”

The Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect was evidently prepared, producing a jade pendant and a silk pouch with a lock of hair inside, offering them to the black-robed cultivator.

”Leave a bowl of your blood.”

The Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect took out a dagger, cut open his palm, and let the blood drip into a bowl until it was full.

With the items ready, the black-robed cultivator nodded, ”You should step back for now.”

The burly Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect, resembling a fierce wolf, nodded slightly, and dutifully retreated outside the hall.

He knew in his heart that ”Mr. Witch” was about to perform a divination.

This is an extremely profound cultivation secret skill.

During the divination process, no one is allowed to interrupt or spy, not even the Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect.

After the Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect retreated, ”Mr. Witch” pointed at the fire basin, igniting green flames.

Amidst the fire seemed to be vengeful spirits struggling and demon wolves howling, eerie and chilling.

Once the fire turned icy cold, Mr. Witch retrieved a turtle shell and cast it into the green flames.

The green flames roiled, scorching cracks upon the turtle shell.

Mr. Witch seized the opportunity to throw in the jade pendant, silk pouch, burning them altogether, then tossed the Sect Leader’s blood into the fire basin.

Blood with a familial connection, when burned by the green flames, turned green, then seeped into the turtle shell, forming ”cause and effect lines” that twisted into the past...

Mr. Witch immediately felt invigorated, swiftly reciting a mantra, then slicing open his palm, directly plunging his hand into the fire basin, gripping the turtle shell.

Allowing his own blood to merge with the green blood.

Thus, his divine thought could observe the past cause and effect lines to understand what really happened, who exactly the ”killer” is.

Amidst the blurred green flames, the face of a young man in a wolf robe appeared.

His face filled with shock and disbelief, seemingly until death he never thought he would die.

Mr. Witch frowned, questioning, ”Who killed you?”

The young man in a wolf robe was engulfed by the green flames, wanting to speak, yet seemingly afraid.

Mr. Witch’s gaze darkened.

Since he won’t speak, he could only look himself.

He exerted force with his right hand, more blood flowed into the turtle shell, delving deeper into this layer of cause and effect, rewinding the life of the young man in a wolf robe.

Soon, he pinpointed a human figure.

This human figure was very blurry, entirely black and gray, accompanied by firelight, looking somewhat eerie.

Mr. Witch frowned; at this moment, a sliver of unease arose in his heart, feeling that his actions might be reckless, perhaps...

Did he calculate upon someone he shouldn’t have?

Mr. Witch felt the urge to retreat, but it was too late; he had already seen that eerie human figure.

Also, he had touched the cause and effect related to this mysterious ”killer.”

Instantly, dense mist spread.

Mr. Witch seemed to be in a deep mountainous fog, surrounded by a white expanse, unable to see his fingers when reaching out.

”Is this... foreboding mist?” Mr. Witch’s heart jolted, looking around with an incredulous expression:

”Such powerful foreboding mist... it’s so thick...”

”Whose handiwork is this?”

Mr. Witch was stunned.

He continued to walk along the fog, but despite walking for a long time, the direction remained indistinguishable.

The scope of this fog, its density, depth, and the profound skill within it, exceeded his expectations.

The more Mr. Witch looked, the more terrified he became.

He deduced that within this mist, there must be some great and precious cause and effect; otherwise, it would not be possible for a master to go to such lengths, laying down such unfathomable mist, to conceal this heavenly secret.

This is the handiwork of heavenly mechanism great power!

Mr. Witch’s expression was solemn, wandering aimlessly in the fog for a long time.

But this mist was beyond his ability to dispel.

As the green flames diminished, and the turtle shell divination skill was about to fade, Mr. Witch still obtained nothing, eventually leaving this area of cause and effect shrouded in mist.

Returning to the real world.

In the fire basin, the demon fire had been extinguished, the turtle shell full of cracks.

Mr. Witch stood dazed, not knowing how long had passed, he said, ”Come in.”

The Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect walked in, asking, ”Mr. Witch, how was it?”

Mr. Witch shook his head, ”A complete mist, unable to observe cause and effect, unsure of the cause of death, difficult to trace the killer.”

The Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect frowned, evidently not expecting that even the extraordinary Mr. Witch could not divine the ”killer’s” identity.

”Then what about this matter...” the Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect asked.

Mr. Witch replied calmly, ”No matter, the art of cause and effect is inherently obscure and complex; not finding anything in one divination is quite normal.”

”Allow me to consult my ancestral texts to find a divination skill for piercing mysteries and breaking mist; all truths will eventually surface.”

The Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect respectfully said, ”Then I leave it to Mr. Witch.”
