Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 170 I really don’t want to be the captain”Has your UFO Hawkmoth reached the gold level?”

Upon hearing Russell reporting his strength, Dr. Natsuki’s eyes narrowed and he asked in disbelief.

Russell’s main pet beast is a UFO Hawkmoth, and this is information he has already known.

He has always known Russell as a talented young man who has a talent for nurturing and is also good at his own abilities.

For the development of Senluo City, such a person deserves to be attracted and given preferential treatment, but it cannot be said that it would shock him, a chief scientific researcher in a second-tier city.

After all, there are only examples of cultivating bronze-level beasts to silver-level beasts in the academic world.

If no expense is invested in cultivating them, many bronze and silver-level pet beast races can achieve bloodline level leaps and maintain a good success rate.

However, this kind of investment is not directly proportional to the income, and the improvement brought about by spending resources to increase the level will be greatly diluted in the reproduction process.

Judging from the cases that Dr. Natsuki has been exposed to, after stopping breeding for one or two generations, the offspring of those experimental subjects will be brought back to their original shape.

It is really not a wise thing to go through all the effort to cultivate a silver-level or gold-level pet beast that cannot be passed on through reproduction.

However, cultivating a pet beast to the point where it spans two bloodline levels cannot simply be explained by the accumulation of resources.

Because there are two aspects of cultivation: absorption and adaptation, and the lifespan of low-level pet beasts is often not long.

If the cultivation materials are used less, or the quality is low, it will be difficult to achieve results in the face of the limited lifespan and absorption rate of the pet beast. However, blind use of high-end materials may cause overload and sudden death.

This is a barrier to maintain the normal distribution of the pet beast world’s population, and it is also a shackle that restricts the growth of individual pet beasts’ strength. It is also common sense that every pet beast researcher knows.

Otherwise, with the financial resources and sphere of influence of the Beast Control Alliance, even the powerful Dragon Clan would have achieved mass production long ago.

Dr. Natsuki is currently in Senluo City, but he graduated from a top university jointly established by the four major principalities. In terms of knowledge reserve and knowledge, he is worthy of any top expert in the alliance.

But even so, it was possible for a pet beast to cross two bloodline levels within a year. He had only heard of this kind of thing from some large-scale research projects that often cost more than a billion credits.

Moreover, Russell’s information was very open and transparent. Although the Omushi House industry was booming, it could not be said to be extremely wealthy. The few times he went out of the city were basically under his nose.

This proves that he did not spend much effort or rely on too many adventures to cultivate the UFO Hawkmoth to the gold level.

As the saying goes, quantitative changes lead to qualitative changes. If this momentum can be maintained, God knows what level that UFO Hawkmoth will reach in the future.

”Well...it’s been a while.”

Faced with Dr. Natsuki’s surprised expression, Russell just responded lightly, seemingly not at all proud of his cheating nurturing ability.

As soon as these words came out, not only Dr. Xia Mu’s eyes widened a little wider, but even General Mo Lin couldn’t help but cast a meaningful look at him.

As a person, the two of them have seen a lot of talented young people, but what’s going on with this understatement? ?
This kid doesn’t look like he has a pretentious character. This look can only be explained by the fact that he really didn’t put in much effort.

Thinking about it carefully, the quality of the pet beasts that the Chongwu House recently provided to the Senluo Beast Control Research Institute was indeed improving steadily, but the extent was not very large, so he did not pay too much attention to it.

Now combined with the fact that the UFO Hawkmoth had reached the gold level, Dr. Natsuki suddenly realized what was different about Russell.

His breeding method is likely to truly optimize the bloodline of insect-type beasts, rather than cramming to increase the life energy intensity.

This means that Russell’s method of cultivating the UFO Hawk Moth to the gold level is very likely to have the possibility of reproduction and inheritance.

”Such talents must be found ways to come to the Longquan City Alliance Headquarters to serve the country!”

”Such talents must stay in the Senluo City Alliance to benefit their hometown!”

Dr. Xia Mu and General Mo Lin had an idea at the same time about this kind of young beastmaster who was both capable of fighting and good at nurturing.

Of course, they didn’t know that Russell didn’t want to go to any institution. He just wanted to open a gym to beat the king, and then stay at home and live the life of a rich man...

”Silver-winged Sword Mantis, what kind of pet is it?”

After a slight pause, Dr. Xiamu turned to ask about Daolang’s situation.

”It is an evolved form of the Great Sword Mantis. It should have reached the evolutionary conditions after being exposed to steel energy.”

Taking this opportunity, Russell just reported the information about the new race to the alliance official.

”The pet beast’s racial talent is mithril armor, which is characterized by high energy resistance and tends to be agility, attack and fighting type...”

After listening to Russell’s introduction to Silver Winged Blade Mantis, everyone’s expressions changed again and again.

Even if he can cultivate the UFO Hawk Moth from bronze level to gold level, he can actually explore the evolutionary form of the broadsword mantis, which is recognized as a weak pet beast.

Moreover, this evolutionary strength has reached gold, and it sounds like its ability composition is quite good...

Especially Jiang Xue and Chen Yuan, who had also contracted insect beasts, were obviously even more unbelievable about this kind of thing.

The ones they contracted were all bug beasts whose native level reached gold level, and they all felt obvious bottlenecks during the cultivation process.

Compared with beasts, birds or elemental beasts of the same level, insect beasts have stronger growth speed and survival adaptability, but their understanding and upper limit are often a bit weaker.

Do insect beasts such as the UFO Hawk Moth and the Great Knife Mantis that can be seen everywhere on the roadside really have such great potential?
”...You guys can continue talking about Operation Secret, and remember to send me a copy of the scanned data when you have time,”

However, this is not an academic exchange meeting for the cultivation department after all. After being surprised, Dr. Xiamu quickly brought the topic back to Operation Secret.

”Exploring the secret realm is only part of this operation. Before that, the Alliance Legion will first fight with the Pirate Fire Group to compete for control of the territory...”

Afterwards, General Mo Lin cleared his throat and continued to explain other matters of the operation.

Since there is only so much information in the secret realm, and it has all been made public before, what he is talking about now is mainly the process of the entire operation.

The Fire Thieves openly entered the city to kidnap him, and the surrounding cities were immediately put under martial law, prohibiting anyone from leaving the city at will. After several incidents, both sides clearly knew their opponents’ intentions.

In this case, there is definitely no way to sneak attack the fire-stealing group.

Using the knowledge left behind by the Divine Court of Hope, the Fire Thief Group can often take the lead in exploring secret realms. Now the Black Dew Forest should be full of their people.

When the two forces meet, several tough battles may be inevitable.

Although the Fire Stealing Group has been crushed by the Beast Mastering Alliance in terms of wealth and power, they hold part of the core inheritance of the Holy Court of Hope, as well as some families of fanatical believers who have followed since ancient times, and their high-end combat power is not particularly rare.

If there is a frontal battle, there will inevitably be casualties. If a fight really breaks out, masters like General Mo Lin will naturally not be afraid, but many of the middle and low-level alliance personnel will surely fall forever in the Black Dew Forest.

Of course, this part of the combat mission did not require the direct participation of their three fourth-level secret realm explorers.

According to the plan, a group of soldiers would specially escort the armored vehicle occupied by the three Russells and park temporarily in the distance. Only when the Fire Stealing Regiment’s camp was completely occupied by the Beast Control Alliance would a few people be arranged to go there.

Regardless of the death of all entrants, the door to the secret realm is opened every seven days, which means that once they enter the secret realm, they will have to stay inside for at least seven days.

The most important thing is that as long as the beast master can adapt to the environment in the secret realm and there is no pressure to survive, he will not be forcibly transported after the seven-day cycle.

In other words, there are probably a small number of members of the Fire Stealing Group already entrenched in the Black Dew Secret Realm.

After entering the secret realm, Russell and others not only had to deal with the fossil beasts there and the strange environment that was different from the outside world, but also had to guard against attacks from the fire thieves.

Therefore, before reaching the entrance to the secret realm, the Beast Control Alliance officials do not want them to suffer any loss of status.

Russell and Jiang Xue had no objections to this arrangement that was beneficial to their own safety, but Chen Yuan, who was a soldier, felt a little aggrieved.

Because many of his comrades had fallen into the hands of the Fire Thieves, he hated the Fire Thieves no less than Russell.

However, considering that the secret realm is the ultimate goal of this big operation, he also said that obeying orders is the first criterion.

After explaining these basic action arrangements, General Mo Lin thought for a moment, then looked at Russell and said:

”You are also the most familiar with the insect system, so you will be the team leader for this operation to explore the secret realm.”

”What? Well...I have no experience at all.”

Hearing this, Russell was greatly surprised and refused repeatedly with an embarrassed expression on his face.

He only has a gym badge, and his pet beast strength is not outstanding. He is commanding two young talents from Longquan City. No matter how he looks at it, it is difficult to convince the crowd...

”I agree with General Mo. You have the largest number of pet beasts in battle, and there must be a lot of insect-related resources in the secret realm. This is not what we are good at.”

Unexpectedly, Chen Yuan, who had the most military experience, was the first to express his agreement.

Russell has three insect-type pet beasts that can be used in battle, and they are not very common types.

Even if Chen Yuan had served in some legion positions, it would be difficult to fully understand his strength in such a short period of time.

After all, the situation of the trip to the secret realm is unpredictable, and the composition of the three-person team this time is not as simple as everyone in the legion carrying standard pet beasts. Chen Yuan may not be able to do a good job.

The two pet beasts he and Jiang Xue had were both common pet beasts.

Nurse Spider is a pure insect-type gold-level pet. Except for the anesthesia flying needle which has some control effects, its offensive ability is basically zero, and it is a purely auxiliary positioning.

Its main ability can be summarized as being able to bandage wounds with spider silk, and the liquid it secretes is not harmful, but can kill bacteria and reduce inflammation.

The Fighter Unicorn is a pet beast with dual attributes of insect type and fighting type.

Unlike Daolang, who is good at swimming and fighting, this large beetle-like pet beast, which is slightly larger than an adult, is best at running rampant.

Its racial talent ”Horn Impact” has the effect of continuously increasing its attack power while sprinting in a straight line. It is a fierce style rarely seen among insect beasts.

Because the Fighter Unicorn has a very clear natural evolution chain and has a high chance of evolving into the platinum-level ”God of War Unicorn”, it can be considered a ”queen of a famous family” in the insect system.

With Russell’s understanding of the insect system, he shouldn’t have much trouble getting along with these two well-known insect beasts.

”Yes, as for the lack of command experience, don’t worry, we will try our best to cooperate with you!”

After Chen Yuan, Jiang Xue also expressed her willingness to accept Russell as a novice captain.

As outstanding young men in the alliance with good roots, both of them are very aware of the importance of this operation.

However, since their main pet beasts are not all insect type, the two of them were actually in a semi-sealed state after entering the secret realm, and could only use % of their strength.

In this case, it was originally a very reasonable approach to lower his profile and cooperate with Russell, who had two fourth-level main battle beasts.

As long as Russell doesn’t behave like an idiot, or the command is too ridiculous, they will definitely not play the boring trick of being at odds with each other and evading the captain.

”Okay, then I’ll try my best...”

Seeing that his two teammates believed in him so much, Russell couldn’t shirk anymore and could only take over the position of captain of the team.

After telling all the important things that needed to be said, General Mo Lin looked at Russell again and said:
”Let’s drive here for today’s meeting. The day after tomorrow, a special plane from the Southern Principality Alliance headquarters will come to pick you up. Get ready as soon as possible.”

The other two people work in Longquan City and can set off with the large army. The so-called special plane is naturally here to pick up Russell and Dr. Xia Mu.

The reason why they chose to set off quietly at night was probably to avoid the eyes and ears of the Fire Thieves as much as possible.

After all, although both sides know that a battle is inevitable, the Fire Thieves must guard the secret realm. The alliance may attack at any time, and the initiative does lie with the Beast Control Alliance.

If they just swagger out of the city gate and let the Fire Thieves immediately go on full alert, wouldn’t it be a waste of the advantage of being the first mover.

…………

After hanging up the video call, Russell lay on the chair and let out a sigh of relief.

During this period of time, he had basically prepared everything he could. All he had to do now was to wait quietly for the departure day after tomorrow.

However, no matter how well prepared he was, he was still a little nervous about the task of exploring the Black Dew Secret Realm.

After all, the opponent is a fire-stealing group with no lower limit. Faced with such huge interests, God knows what crazy things they will do.

At least, sneak attacks from various dark corners are probably unavoidable...

Russell himself can say that, stuck within the strength range of the fourth level, Xiao Qi’s protective ability is enough to deal with most emergencies.

However, the protective pets of Jiang Xue and Chen Yuan cannot be used in the secret realm.

If someone is killed in the secret realm and sees his teammates encounter mishaps in front of his eyes, Russell will definitely feel uncomfortable.

Therefore, during this trip to the secret realm, he had another goal: to bring Jiang Xue and Chen Yuan out of the secret realm safely. (End of chapter)
