Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 19 Competition AuditionsChapter 19 Competition Auditions

Bai Xinyuan is a clerical staff member of the competition department of the Beast Taming League. The audition stage of the rookie group competition every summer is the time when she is the most irritable.

At : in the morning, Bai Xinyuan stepped off the bus with a meat bun and a glass of soy milk, and saw a huge crowd outside the Alliance Athletic Hall.

”Don’t these people need to have breakfast...”

The office hours from to o’clock every day were clearly posted outside the door of the competition hall. Registration sooner or later would not affect the results. She really couldn’t understand the excessive enthusiasm of these young people.

When she thought about having to complete the registration of hundreds of people in the morning and answer all the most basic common sense questions, she felt that her monthly salary of 4000 credit points became extremely heavy.

After passing through the crowd and opening the door of the office building, Bai Xinyuan cleared his throat and said loudly to the crowd who immediately wanted to squeeze into the hall:
”Get your number at the machine at the door and queue up. Don’t make any noise! Don’t jump in line! Those who jump in line will queue up again!”

As she spoke, she summoned her pet beast, a huge silver-level mechanical creature - the electromagnetic guard.

This pet beast that can control magnetism looks a lot like a security inspection machine. When it stretched out its long mechanical arm, it caught two young people who tried to cut in line and slipped into the hall back to the end of the line. All newcomers who came to sign up were The beastmasters all quickly lined up obediently.

Standing in the middle of the line, Russell silently gave a thumbs up to the waiter who took a strong stance against the evil behavior of jumping in line.

However, there were too many people to sign up today. Even though the place was well organized and no one jumped in line, the registration process was still very slow.

…………

Time passed slowly, and as it approached noon, Russell finally moved to the front of the team.

”Next, number 247!”

”Confirm your basic information.”

In order to provide sufficient space for the new players to grow, the Beast Control Alliance has specially set up a newcomer group competition. This group only allows those under the age of 20 and who have signed up for the first time to participate.

In order to prevent someone from fishing in troubled waters and sneaking into the new competition to beat newcomers, every contestant needs to bring his or her ID for on-site identification and confirmation.

After verifying that Russell’s personal information was correct, Bai Xinyuan turned his attention to the pet information he submitted online.

”...Please check the two pet beasts you signed up and sign after confirming they are correct.”

Bai Xinyuan was slightly startled when she saw the information about UFO Hawk Moth and Dao Dao Mantis appearing on the registration page, but her good professionalism prevented her from showing any strange expression.

After all, it was the audition registration for the rookie group... quite a few of them came here to experience life, and she had seen many more outrageous combinations than Russell, a pet beast.

”Please go to the training room No. 17 for the qualification test. Go up to the second floor and turn left to the fifth room.”

After completing all the registrations, Bai Xinyuan handed the test serial number generated by the system to Russell, and pointed to the stairs beside him.

Since there is no threshold for the number of gym badges in the rookie group, an additional audition session was added. The novice beast masters who signed up for the competition need to defeat a tester who uses a standard pet beast before they can enter the official group stage.

Watching Russell disappear around the corner of the corridor, Bai Xinyuan sighed silently in his heart.

The tester in the NO.17 training room is well-known as a rookie killer. This gentle young man who seems to be quite pleasing to the eye may have difficulty entering the official competition.

……

At the same time, in the NO.17 training room, Wu Yu, who had just finished a test, was waiting impatiently for the next contestant.

From the fear on the little girl’s face when she entered the door just now, and the way she left crying, Wu Yu knew that his title of ”Rookie Killer” had spread again among this new generation of beast masters...

I really don’t blame myself for being too harsh. I am a graduate student at Senluo Beast Control Academy, and I have to be sent to the competition department to do voluntary work every summer vacation. Who would be happy in any other situation.

Moreover, the test used a temporary mechanical pet beast issued by the alliance. Objectively speaking, its strength was quite mediocre. It could not even beat this kind of opponent. When it went to the official arena, it was just embarrassing in front of thousands of people.

From this perspective, he should be the ”intimate big brother” who prevents those hot-headed contestants from being embarrassed in public!

Wu Yu was wandering around in boredom when a soft knock came from the door, and a young man who looked harmless opened the door and walked in.

”Russell, graduated from the Cultivation Department of Senluo Beast Control Academy. His main occupation is the owner of a pet house. He registers pet animals...UFO Hawk Moth? Broadsword Mantis? What the hell are these!” I saw No. 247 appear on the electronic screen. Contestant Russell’s message, Wu Yu’s mood is now as speechless as his name.

The reason why the workload of auditions for the rookie group is so heavy every year is because there are so many young people who love to join in the fun!
He is obviously a graduate of the breeding department, he runs a pet house, and he is contracted with two garbage-type pet beasts. He also comes to compete, which is a waste of the manpower and material resources of the Beast Taming Alliance. He really deserves a beating from society.

As usual, the battle will end in 30 seconds!
Too lazy to talk nonsense with Russell, Wu Yu immediately pressed the button to start the battle after he stood still and summoned Ayou.

”Multi-armed mechanical beast, use restraint electric shock!”

The moment the protective force field rose, Wu Yu commanded a pet beast that looked a bit like a vacuum cleaner but had five mechanical arms to attack.

Russell did some homework before signing up. This multi-armed mechanical beast is a second-level silver-level thunder beast. If it is caught by its mechanical arm, it will receive a steady stream of electric shocks.

However, the multi-armed mechanical beast moves slowly and mainly relies on the telescopic function of the mechanical arm to attack.

This attack mode is much easier to dodge than the paralyzing thread quickly thrown by the thread spider.

Ayou didn’t even need to use skills. She just flapped her wings and easily dodged the slowly extending mechanical arm.

However, Wu Yu also knew that it was difficult for a multi-armed mechanical beast to directly catch a flying target. Under his command, the five mechanical arms spread out with sizzling electric current, constantly compressing Ayou’s flying space.

When the five robotic arms were fully extended, Ayou could only dodge in less than one-third of the space in the training room.

”There’s no place to fly...try this charged electric shock.”

Seeing that the round-up tactic was successful, Wu Yu waved to the multi-armed mechanical beast, intending to end this boring test quickly.

This thunder skill has a certain tracking effect and is almost certain to hit in a small space. With the UFO Hawkmoth’s fragile defense, it should be difficult to withstand the powerful electric attack.

”Use Butterfly Shadow to dodge and charge up Nether Blast.”

Seeing Wu Yu’s confident expression, Russell calmly gave the order to Ayou.

call--

After the battle with Daodao Mantis and the following days of practice, Ayou is now able to use two new skills proficiently.

Its wings trembled, and five phantoms flew out instantly. Rich ghost energy gathered at the phantom and the body at the same time.

Facing the shadows of butterflies flying in the sky and the sudden cold feeling in the training room, Wu Yu realized something was wrong.

Shouldn’t the UFO Hawkmoth only have basic skills like scale powder and fright?

”The multi-armed mechanical beast, turn on the scanning field of view!”

But at this time, he still felt that he had an absolute advantage.

Because mechanical pet beasts can identify illusions through energy scanning, it is still too naive to rely on shadow clones to avoid attacks.

However, the battle situation did not develop in the direction he expected.

”The target body cannot be identified. The electric shock has been charged and will be released automatically.”

In the scanning field of view of the multi-armed mechanical beast, each phantom exudes similar energy fluctuations. Since the skill charge has reached the limit, it can only shoot out the charged electric shock at will.

Such a random attack was naturally difficult to achieve results. The dazzling lightning flashed, but it could only break a phantom.

Seeing this scene, Wu Yu was really speechless.

What’s going on? Isn’t this an ordinary shadow clone?
Could it be that UFO Hawkmoth can still learn high-level skills?
Just when he was surprised and confused, four and a half seconds had passed. The next moment, surging ghost energy suddenly exploded next to the multi-armed mechanical beast, directly breaking four of its five mechanical arms.

”Warning! Warning! The machine body is seriously... damaged... and needs to be repaired!”

Amidst the hoarse alarm sound of the multi-armed mechanical beast, Russell kept the same smile as when he entered the door, and asked Wu Yu very politely:
”Excuse me, where can I register the test results?”
