Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 18Chapter 18
After recuperating in the safe zone for a whole day, Russell fully recovered the energy he expended in giving Ayou rare skills. Relying on the treatment medicines in the military supply bag, Daodao Mantis’s injuries were basically healed.

According to common sense, if the pet beast has no will to resist, the beast master can barely contract a pet beast that is one level higher than itself. However, due to the limited power of the beast master space, part of the energy will be fed back and lost.

But Russell’s situation was slightly different. Thanks to the high compatibility between the ”Cocoon of Evolution” and the insect-type pet beast, he perfectly enjoyed the energy feedback brought by the Great Sword Mantis, and became a third-level beast master in one fell swoop.

Although given Ayou’s growth rate, reaching the third level is only a matter of time, but being able to advance ahead of schedule is a small surprise.

By giving Ayou rare skills and the experience of unexpected advancement, Russell always feels that there is still a lot of room for development in the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent.

…………

On the morning of the eighth day, in the large armored vehicle they came from, Russell and other maintenance personnel, escorted by Tu Tiezhu, returned to Senluo city along the original route.

Not long after returning to the Chongwu House, he received the message that the credit points had been credited to his account. However, looking at the meager balance on his account, Russell did not feel the joy of receiving a salary at all.

”I only earn 500 credit points a week. It’s really hard to work part-time...”

Including the gray silk spun by the black-ringed silkworms, his weekly income is just over 2000 credit points. After deducting the rent and miscellaneous expenses, as well as the cost of raising pet animals, there is not much money left at all.

With this meager income, it was difficult to feed Ayou a single insect, let alone a more edible mantis.

As the saying goes, it is better to increase revenue than to reduce expenditure. The intensity of krypton gold determines the talent intensity of ”Cocoon of Evolution”. Russell must quickly find a way to make money.

According to the plan he had made before, he used the 500 credits he had just received to order a new batch of pet beast eggs online, as well as a whole sack of low-quality breeding materials that were packaged and sold at a special price.

In the era of beast control, the transportation vehicles of large logistics companies are almost all mechanical beasts. They can travel very fast and can load and unload goods by themselves with robotic arms, which is far more efficient than traditional couriers.

That afternoon, the delivery truck from the Alliance Trading Center stopped at the entrance of Yu Chongwu.

”Big mulberry silkworm eggs, sunset grass, blue moss, and warm orange fruits...are all alive!”

Directing the delivery vehicle to transport the breeding materials into the fresh-keeping cold storage, Russell called Lu Yinning and placed sixty white pet eggs evenly in three incubation boxes equipped with heating lamps.

These eggs are pregnant with large silkworm larvae that are about to break out of their shells. Like the black-ringed silkworms, they are both black iron-level insect beasts.

The slight difference is that after evolution, the Black-ringed Silkworm can slightly increase its bloodline level to Bronze level and awaken the ghost attribute, while the Big Mulberry Silkworm is a pure insect-type beast. After evolution, it is still only at the Black Iron level, which can be called The lowest level of combat power in the pet world.

If it weren’t for the fact that the silk they spit out had good toughness, comparable to some softer metal wires, and was not easy to rot or burn, they would probably be classified as ordinary creatures.

”Brother Russell, I remember the teacher in the breeding class said that the large-scale silkworm breeding industry is very developed, so the profit generated by each silkworm is very low. If you breed a small amount, you can basically only make the cost money...”

During the process of placing the pet beast eggs, Lu Yinning raised her doubts.

Her words were to the point and very professional.

Large-scale breeding affects the business environment of small workshops. This is a problem that exists in the entire insect-based pet beast-related industry.

However, large-scale farming also has its own inevitable shortcomings, that is, it is difficult to improve the average quality. The same incubation method, the same living environment, the same feed, and the same template will produce silkworms that are equally ordinary.

These worm silks of barely acceptable quality are widely used in various textile industries, but they are difficult to meet the needs of high-end customers.

The popularity of gray silk is enough to show that as long as the quality of silk is above average, there is still a huge profit margin for small-scale breeding.

The ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent is not only Russell’s confidence to challenge gyms and leagues, but it is also his cash cow.

However, the development direction of the black-ringed silkworm race is relatively fixed. Even if the energy ratio in their bodies is continuously optimized, they can only produce slightly higher quality gray silk. Therefore, Russell did not choose to expand the number of black-ringed silkworms cultivated.

The big silkworm has no so-called development direction because it is too weak. Instead, it can adapt to the cultivation materials of various properties. As long as it is fed with different cultivation materials, it is possible to spit out silk threads of various colors.

Considering that the more varied the colors of silk, the easier it is to sell at a higher price, Russell deliberately selected three plants that correspond to the three primary colors when purchasing breeding materials.

There are bright red indigo grass with weak fire properties, indigo moss that turns blue when mashed into a solution, and warm orange fruits that are delicious and juicy and can be called a universal blender in the cultivation world.

As for the quality of the promotional materials, it just means that the energy contained does not reach the passing line. This is not harmful. Anyway, it is not about cultivating powerful fighting beasts. Just don’t eat it up.

They are cheap and eat cheap. Silkworm pets are really easy to feed~
Of course, cultivating the color of silk threads is a thing for another time. What he has to do now is to let the eggs of these giant silkworms hatch smoothly, and try to make them grow strong and healthy, so that he can produce shinier and smoother silk threads.

Thinking of this, Russell concentrated his attention and observed the situation of the large silkworm eggs in the breeding box.

These pet eggs are sourced from a large silk mill around Senluo City. When each batch of large silkworms grow to lay eggs, the silk mill will first screen and retain the best quality pet eggs, and then eliminate some Dead eggs with serious problems, and eggs with minor defects, are sold on the market.

Through the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent, Russell saw that the growth progress of these large silkworm eggs was acceptable, but the eggs contained more or less chaotic energy, which was not conducive to the growth of the larvae.

Now that Russell is already a third-level beast master, it is easy to sift out the energy for these pet beast eggs whose life energy level has not even reached the first level. In a short time, all the chaotic energy in the sixty large silkworm eggs was extracted. Got clean.

The incubation period of the silkworm eggs is about one month. Based on the date of production of these eggs, they are expected to hatch in a week.

”If I can cultivate rainbow-colored silk, I will sell a bundle for 5000 credits, hehehehe...”

With a hint of a sinister smile, Russell lay down on the rocking chair and began to think about the wonderful life after wealth and freedom.

However, he couldn’t really just wait for the pet beast eggs to hatch in the insect room. During this period, in addition to continuing to cultivate the black-ringed silkworms, Russell also had one very important thing to do:
——That is to register information at the regional beast-taming competition in Senluo City, pass the basic test, and officially become a ranked player.

He had seen the schedule information of the Senluo Regional Competition in the news before. This quarter’s auditions for the rookie group were about to begin. Probably because it coincided with the graduation season, the amount of rewards for this audition was larger than usual. Much higher.

As long as you advance through the group stage, you will be able to obtain a voucher worth credit points for cultivation materials. If you reach the semi-finals, the voucher amount will be increased to , and you can also choose from the warehouse of the Senluo Beast Taming Alliance. The same treasure cultivation materials within the fifth level.

If you can win the championship in one fell swoop, you may even have the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of the ”Sun Tree”, the sacred tree of the Southern Principality.

Looking at the dazzling list of prizes, poor Russell was really greedy.
