Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 1 The pet shop that is about to close downChapter 1 The pet shop that is about to close down
In the early morning, on Fenglin Road in the suburbs of Senluo City, a pet shop called ”Yu Chongwu” hung up its business sign early.

In the small but extremely tidy shop, Russell was holding a pot of chopped fresh mulberry leaves and spreading them evenly into an incubator that was feeding a dozen black-ringed silkworm larvae.

After feeding these celestial silkworm larvae, he still needs to clean up the accumulated insect sand under the breeding frame, water and fertilize the mulberry trees planted in the backyard, adjust the temperature control and moisturizing device in the darkroom, and record and observe the growth of insect pupae and eggs.

Even the sandworm with the highest bloodline level in the entire pet shop can only reach the silver level, but there is not much work to be done every day.

After being busy for nearly an hour, Russell, who had finished taking care of his daily morning affairs, sat in front of the counter, gnawing bread, and looked at the vibrant insect beasts in each breeding box with a satisfied expression.

Nearly a month has passed since he traveled to this world where beast control is the absolute core.

In his previous life, he was an entomologist and a senior fan of pet-raising games, and now he has become a young owner running an insect pet shop.

It must be said that Russell is quite satisfied with this world full of magical creatures and his current career, and it only took him 10 minutes to fully accept the time travel.

If there is anything unsatisfactory, it is that the business of the store operated by the predecessor was really not good.

In the month since he took over Omushiya, he could count the number of customers who came to the store every day on two hands, and the average number of people who spent money was less than one person a day.

As usual, Russell was worrying about business when a figure suddenly opened the door and walked in.

”welcome……”

It was rare for a guest to come to his door, so he quickly greeted them with a smile on his face.

But the first person who walked into the store today was not a customer, but a kind woman who looked to be in her 50s. She was a doctor at the pet clinic next door, a third-level therapeutic beast master named Olan.

”Good morning, um... I may have to defer the rent for a few days before paying it to you...”

Seeing Dr. Oran holding a stack of receipts in his hand, Russell’s expression became a little embarrassed.

Because the storefront that Yu Chongwu rented was her property.

The store’s business was already sluggish, and it took him a few days to get familiar with the world at the beginning of the time travel. This resulted in Russell not even paying last month’s rent.

Fortunately, the purpose of Dr. Oran’s visit was not to collect rent. She placed the receipt on the counter and then handed Russell a box of lunch.

”Little Russell, I’ve watched you grow up, old lady. Let’s talk about the rent later. Don’t always eat bread. You are still growing.”

The predecessor’s parents and Dr. Oran have been neighbors and old friends for many years. Since they disappeared during an adventure, Dr. Oran has always taken special care of Russell.

For example, he would be given extra meals every now and then as he was frugal in order to save the cost of opening a store.

Through the glass lid, Russell saw a row of shrimps, fried sizzling beef, and stir-fried lily root vegetables neatly arranged in the lunch box. The cost of purchasing these ingredients alone was probably as much as the royal family. The day’s rent for the bug house is almost the same.

He took the lunch box movedly and glanced at the contents of the stack of receipts.

The delivery person column on the receipt says Yu Chongwu, and the content is all miscellaneous expenses such as energy bills, garbage disposal fees, and business management fees. The municipal office probably sent the bill to Dr. Oran’s home based on the household head’s information.

Facing a dozen bills, Russell felt ashamed and had a headache.

It turns out that the current situation of the Imperial Insect House is worse than I imagined. Not only did it fail to earn enough rent, but it even owes ”water and electricity bills”...

Staring at Russell eating his lunch, Dr. Oran said to him seriously:

”I have paid off all the previous expenses for you, but you have to look forward. If the Imperial Insect House cannot be maintained, I can write a letter of recommendation to help the Senluo City Pet Breeding Center find a stable job. Work.”

As a third-level animal master who has run an animal clinic for many years, she actually doesn’t care about the rent and miscellaneous expenses. However, after her parents left, Russell always stayed in the insect control house and rarely went out. Dr. Olan hoped that he could change environment to welcome a new life.

”Thank you, but I’d like to hold on a little longer.”

The welfare benefits of the Municipal Pet Breeding Center are very good, and regular employees can buy pet cubs at a very favorable price. It is a job that many people dream of, but Russell still declined Dr. Olan’s kindness.

He inherited the memory of his predecessor, so he could naturally understand the special significance of the Insect House, but more importantly, Russell’s love for insects has never changed, no matter in his previous life or now.

For his predecessor’s long-cherished wish and for his own ideal, he wanted to continue operating this insect pet house.

But having said that, Russell actually doesn’t have much confidence in his heart, because the lack of birds in the insect house is not entirely a problem of poor management by the original owner. The main reason is the depression of the insect pet beast market.Insects play an indispensable role in nature. In this regard, the world of animal control is no different from the real world.

Insect-type pets have a short growth period, low breeding costs, and diverse abilities. They can be seen in many industries such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and food processing.

However, in the eyes of professional beast masters, or combat beast masters, the most powerful and authoritative professional group that occupies the core resources of human society, insect beasts ”lack the value of cultivation” synonymous with.

The reason is very simple. A short growth period means a short cultivation period, and diverse abilities. In other words, they are mixed but not refined.

Many low-level insect beasts only need one or two years to mature, and their growth has stagnated. There is no time to cultivate them carefully or learn any powerful skills.

Abilities such as weak poison, silk spinning, and acupuncture are obviously not enough once they are put on the combat level.

Moreover, insect-type pets have excellent environmental adaptability and are widely distributed in the wild. Even if someone wants to contract insect-type pets to take the production or auxiliary route, as long as there is a relatively capable beast master among relatives and friends to help catch them in the wild. A few common insect-type pet beasts are only a matter of minutes.

Considering all the above reasons, the business of a pet house that specializes in insects will naturally not be much better.

In the memory of its predecessor, the reason why the Imperial Insect House can barely support itself until now is mainly by selling the materials produced by the pet beasts, rather than directly selling the pet beasts.

…………

After sending Dr. Oran away, Russell stared at the black-ringed hornworm larvae in the incubator and was stunned.

Listening to their rustling gnawing sounds, a strange feeling suddenly flooded into his mind.

In the hazy halo, Russell seemed to experience the transformation process from a caterpillar to a cocooned butterfly, saw the powerful power of ants to move dozens of times their own weight, and experienced the summer of 17 years when cicadas broke out of the ground and fluttered their wings. night.

”You have understood the special way of survival and charm of insect beasts, and you have understood the innate skill: Cocoon of Evolution.

Your beast-controlling space is saturated with insect-type power. The insect-type pet beasts that sign a contract with you will have a longer lifespan, higher attribute growth space, and will no longer be limited by the number of racial evolutions. As long as the growth progress accumulates to the critical Click to evolve again.

You can check and filter the growth progress of insect beasts at any time, and choose the direction of evolution by yourself. ”

When the strange feeling in his mind receded, Russell’s eyes widened in surprise.

Soon after adulthood, everyone will awaken the talent of beast control. This is common knowledge in the world of beast control.

Ordinary people make up the majority no matter which world they live in, and the beast-control world is no exception. Most people can only awaken the general beast-control talents that improve the stability of the beast-control space and increase their favorability. They do nothing to improve the strength of their pet beasts. Much help.

Rare and more powerful than general talents, are the beast control talents in the combat and cultivation categories.

Combat talents can significantly improve the combat effectiveness of pet beasts in a short period of time, allowing novice beastmasters to survive the early stages smoothly and grow rapidly, while cultivation talents can increase the speed and effect of pet beast cultivation, and are a type of talent that is accumulated over time.

For example, Luo Tianyan, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Alliance and the leader of the Red Rock Gym, has a talent called ”Burning Embers”, which can increase the temperature and stickiness of the beast’s flames through training. Several of them have followed Luo Tianyan for many years. All fire beasts have mastered this ability. The flames they emit will burn their opponents even if they stick to them even a little bit, making them extremely difficult to deal with in protracted battles.

But Russell’s awakened ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent seems to be even more powerful than ”Burning Ember”.

For a pet beast, evolution can be called a process of rebirth. It means a substantial increase in all-round abilities, the learning of more skills, and even a huge change in body structure.

Precisely because the improvement brought about by evolution is so huge, under the law of natural balance, the number of times each pet beast can evolve is basically fixed. Almost all of those beast masters who have made mature pet beasts evolve again through extreme training or adventures have A well-known and powerful person in the Beast Control Alliance.

The ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent is like a ripple, breaking the originally calm waters of the rules of evolution.

Unlimited evolution means unlimited growth possibilities...

If an evolutionary route is designed for an insect-type pet, and then it is cultivated from insect eggs, and after multiple targeted and reasonable evolutions, it will definitely grow into a powerful combat pet!
As long as Russell stands out in the beast-taming competition in Senluo City, relying on the beast-tamer’s transcendent status and fan effect, the dilemma faced by the insect-taming house will naturally be solved.

”So I am the chosen insect beast master, the legendary insect catching boy?”

After carefully recalling the ability information of ”Cocoon of Evolution”, Russell couldn’t help but feel excited.

While he was excited, he suddenly thought that among the five major alliance countries in the world of beast control, there seemed to have never been an insect gymnasium.

If you can successfully challenge all the regional gyms and then clear the Beast Taming League, maybe... the Insect Taming House will hopefully transform into the first pure insect gym in history!
