The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 597 - 305: Just Need... One More Chance!
6:30 p.m.

This time seemed like the trigger of a magic box. The moment the clock hands finally hit these numbers, Thirteen District suddenly erupted into chaos.

The police station of Thirteen District descended into turmoil as well.

Police Chief’s office.

”Quick, send someone to contact the Terrorism Control Bureau, have them classify the combat in Area F as a terrorist attack, and let them intervene,” Chris, the Police Chief, rapidly instructed his confidant, ”Also, deploy ten teams to scout the perimeter of the combat zone to find out which two factions are clashing.”

After his confidant left the office, Chris rubbed his temples; he was beginning to feel it.

This position as Police Chief was not easy, especially since he had just taken office, and already three major incidents had occurred.

”Firelight” was still protesting near the Sages Group premises, and he had to arrange manpower to maintain order at the scene and disperse the crowd.

Members of the Deception Group had gotten involved in the incident at Sages Group, even abducting the chairman and starting a live execution broadcast.

And the scale of the melee in Area F, with the variety of illegal weapons involved, was incredibly rare in the history of Thirteen District.

The simultaneous occurrence of these three major events made him instantly feel that the police force was stretched thin and plunged him into a frenzied state.

He was unfamiliar with the situations at all three locations; practically everyone in the police station was groping in the dark, dealing with affairs, leaving him no choice but to investigate using standard procedures.

At ”Firelight,” maintaining the order was enough for now; so long as no major stampede occurred, the rest could be dealt with later.

For the chaos in Area F, he classified it directly as a terrorist attack, partly to pass the buck to the Terrorism Control Bureau and partly to conserve police resources.

The last and most crucial issue was the Deception Group’s live-streaming case.

The impact and threat level of this event could potentially be the most horrifying, as it had already attracted too much attention.

However, Chris was well aware that he was currently powerless to resolve it.

His officers were monitoring surveillance and tracking IP addresses, but Chris also sensed that during the live broadcast, they would not find the Deception Group’s specific crime location.

It was simply not enough time.

He had already contacted the officials at ”PiliPili,” but even the technicians there couldn’t pin down the exact IP location, only offering the useless conclusion that the Deception Group had powerful hackers backing them.

Was he really going to have to ask for support from the Seks Group behind him?

It was just his first day on the job, and he already needed help...

Chris gritted his teeth; if he had a choice, he wouldn’t want this.

But now, it seemed he only had the option of having the Seks Group send a more capable White Hat to track the whereabouts of the live stream.

He gazed intensely at the smiley face mask displayed on the Simulated Light Screen, a glimpse of ruthlessness flashing in his eyes.

This was a crisis, but also an opportunity; if he could use the White Hat sent by Seks to capture the people from the Deception Group, it would be a significant achievement.

Deception?

Magic?

Chris naturally connected the two in his mind, combined with the unpleasant encounter with the Magician, Jiang Shu, from earlier in the afternoon, he had a faint suspicion.

And considering the sensitive timing, was it truly that Magician, Jiang Shu?

Frowning slightly, he dialed the group’s contact number; time was pressing, and he had no time for groundless speculations here.

”I need a powerful White Hat to track the real location of Deception Group’s live stream,” Chris stated straightforwardly.

”Okay, but what will we gain from this?” the response from the other end came quickly.

Though their interests were intertwined, the vast Seks Group had no custom of contributing without cause.

”That pharmaceutical company, I can arrange for their products to flood Area F,” Chris replied just as swiftly. ”I can give up ten percent of the profits.”

He was fully aware of the other party’s intentions, therefore he responded just as rapidly.

Arranging for him to become the Police Chief of Thirteen District and promising him control over the underground forces of Area F was intended to facilitate the peddling of drugs in Area F, whereas Chris’s initial bottom line was half of Area F and thirty percent of the profits.

Now, to get a quick agreement, he threw out a bargaining chip they couldn’t refuse.

”Fine, but I can only lend them to you for fifteen minutes,” the other party continued, ”You know, these T1 White Hats, each one of them is a treasure of the group, they are always occupied with tasks, constantly maintaining those firewalls, dealing with those damn hacker attacks, and hardly have much time to spare...”

”Enough, I understand, make it quick,” Chris quickly interjected, not having the time to listen to more idle talk.

”Okay, okay, okay,” the person on the other end said three times and then hung up the phone, ”Wait and see.”

——

Villa in Seventh District.

”Hmm?” Liu Tingruo slowed her finger movement; she looked at the Simulated Light Screen before her, pinched her chin with her hand, and a hint of confusion appeared in her eyes.

It seems...

A master had joined the game?

She was in charge of maintaining the stability of the live stream room and preventing anyone from tracing its location, and now, something unexpected seemed to have occurred.
