The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 590 - 302 Welcome to Thirteen District, Police Chief Chris. (Major Chapter 7000)_3
After those people left, there wasn’t much turmoil on this street, so what was going on today?

Uncle Jes pulled a pistol from under the cash register and walked toward the door, looking in the direction of the commotion.

Along the street, starting from the far end, a group of people dressed in identical outfits continuously entered shops, loudly shouting something.

They were wearing the Taigong Dynasty’s uniform, which Uncle Jes recognized.

Unlike ordinary gangsters, members of the Taigong Dynasty always wore their fixed uniforms when conducting their activities, ostensibly to boldly acknowledge all that they did in order to achieve a state of clear conscience.

Uncle Jes listened intently for a while, and seemed to catch a few key phrases.

”Garcia... ambush... you guys withdraw first...”

Garcia?

He paused, recalling that name; it took him a long while to finally remember.

Could it be Seal Garcia?

That Seal Street.

Having lived in the F17 district for decades, Uncle Jes had heard of Seal Garcia.

No, Seal Garcia was reportedly dead, so could this Garcia be his son?

Was his son going to attack the Taigong Dynasty?

Linking these keywords together, Uncle Jes suddenly felt that he understood the cause and effect—was a battle about to unfold here?

So, were these people from the Taigong Dynasty here to organize their retreat?

Pensively, Uncle Jes secured his pistol at his waist and walked in that direction.

He wanted to get closer and see exactly what was happening.

The Taigong people were dressed in black, simple attire, not as formal as a suit, yet not as casual as sportswear, but something in between like a long shirt.

Uncle Jes couldn’t identify what type of clothing it was, but he found the style strangely appealing.

As he approached the members of the Taigong Dynasty, he was somewhat apprehensive; he wasn’t sure if the Taigong people would scold him for his curious behavior and simply send him away.

But the Taigong Dynasty members didn’t do that; they just glanced at him indifferently and turned their faces away.

”Uncle Jes, what brings you here?” There was a young face in the group, who called out Jes’s name with some surprise.

”You are... the kid living on F03 Street.” Jes recognized him—it was a family living near his home, but he couldn’t remember the exact name.

”Yes, I’m Willie,” Willie said quietly, then looked around to see if anyone cared, before pulling Uncle Jes aside, ”If I remember correctly, you run a shop on this street too, right? It should almost be your turn soon.”

”What do you mean, almost my turn?” Uncle Jes was taken aback and turned to look at the posture of the Taigong Dynasty members, seeming to sense a trend of moving down the street.

Willie looked around and then whispered mysteriously, ”It’s Evon Garcia’s men, they are planning to ambush us, the Taigong Dynasty, to take over our territory.”

”And then?” Jes, looking at Willie’s freckled face, suddenly felt a strange sense of amazement; the neighborhood kid who had been a rascal was now a member of the Taigong Dynasty.

”So, our superiors have instructed us to guide you to evacuate. Protecting the territory is our job; we shouldn’t involve you guys,” Willie continued, then smiled, ”Besides, we’ll also assess the value of the goods in your shop. If anything gets damaged during the fight, we’ll compensate you at the original price.”

”Compensation?” Uncle Jes was also startled by this statement; he didn’t expect the people from the Taigong Dynasty to do such a thing.

It was known that the armed forces of the Three Major Groups, after destroying the properties of ordinary people like them, had never mentioned any compensation, at best there was only a humanitarian aid fund that required application and approval.

And now this is...

A quasi-gangster underground force was actually doing this?

This gave Uncle Jes a sense of mismatch, and following that, a strangely touching feeling.

The attention that he never felt from those Social Sequence organizations was now being given by a gang who collected protection money; it was quite surreal.

”Alright, your turn is coming up soon, Uncle. I have to get back to other tasks,” Willie glanced at the Taigong members starting to organize, exchanged a quick farewell with Uncle Jes, and then left.

Uncle Jes watched his retreating figure, smiling after a long while.

He had just been wondering if it was a good thing for Willie to be mingled in these underground forces, but now, seeing Willie genuinely integrated into the Taigong Dynasty, it seemed not to be a bad thing.

Uncle Jes turned and walked toward his own shop; he too prepared to pack up and leave.

Since the Taigong members could still spare manpower to organize the evacuation of ordinary people on this street at such a critical moment, he couldn’t drag everyone else down at this time.

”Damn Garcias, if this were twenty years ago, I would have fought you all.” Uncle Jes muttered discontentedly, as a surge of hot blood from his youth seemed to stir within him. The idea of resisting Garcia’s invasion crossed his mind, but he knew very well that his old bones were not capable of resisting personally; he could only stay as far away as possible.
