The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 583 - 300: Why! It’s the Deception Group! _2
Just wait a few minutes, there’s no need to rush.

In the pool, the Fish Lady shrank her head and hid here, not knowing why, but the moment the President turned his head, she instinctively retracted her tentacles.

On reflection, this might have been the subtle influence of those third-rate horror films.

Typically, when people encounter ghosts, they can only see tranquility on their first look back; at this moment, the ghosts cannot come out to scare people, but must continue to build the atmosphere.

This is a principle of being a ghost, and the Fish Lady always abided by principles.

And the President indeed discovered nothing, still looking towards the direction of the glass door.

The Fish Lady came out of the pool again, but her tentacles did not reach for the President, instead opting for the oven.

”Shh—” The tentacles made a unique sizzling sound as they touched the iron plate inside, causing Fish Lady pain, her body trembled, and her two large eyes immediately teared up.

She quickly put the scalded and now charred tips of her tentacles into her mouth, trying to ease the burning and pain with the temperature in her mouth.

But suddenly, Fish Lady blinked, and a strange fragrance wafted from her mouth; she couldn’t help but bite her own tentacle, nodding her head as she savored it.

It’s quite tasty, just a bit painful.

”Eh?” The President also heard the noise, and when he turned back and saw the half-woman, half-octopus Fish Lady, he was shocked and lost his color, ”What is that?”

Octopus monster?!

Why is it here?

Was the thing in the oven resurrected?

But wasn’t that a dragon fish?

What does that have to do with an octopus?

He staggered back rapidly, but how could his moving speed compare with the agility of Fish Lady’s tentacles?

With merely a thought, three or four tentacles dashed towards the President with lightning speed.

The President tried to roll and crawl away from the dining room, but from a bird’s-eye view, he ultimately couldn’t escape Fish Lady’s tentacles.

Just about to catch the President, the tentacles suddenly slowed down, letting the President narrowly escape from the dining room.

”What kind of monster is this!” the President yelled as he left the dining room; he quickly closed the glass door, looking at the octopus monster inside, unable to utter a word.

From the upper body, it was a long-haired woman with a good figure, wearing a siren mask, her face unclear; but the lower body had thick tentacles with eyes—a humanoid creature that filled him with genuine horror.

What he feared the least was humans; now, having this non-human creature before him, a palpable feeling of palpitation welled up from deep inside.

Mutant?

The President thought of this possibility, based on his worldview, it was the only explanation.

”Bang—” Fish Lady’s tentacles forcefully struck the glass door, but to no avail.

”Thank goodness, good quality,” the President sighed in relief, feeling fortunate.

Luckily, he never skimped on spending on himself; the glass quality was the best available in the market, impervious to human strength.

Then, the President pressed a button which was a direct call for help to the Security Group; with one press, security personnel would arrive within five minutes.

At the same time, he enhanced the anti-air defenses near the top of the building; he would not allow the incident where he was almost captured by a Rift in the sky to happen again.

No, with a mutant, he must get out of here first.

He thought, then contacted his private helicopter pilot and informed the Terrorism Control Bureau of the mutant.

He planned to have the security personnel escort him to the building rooftop after their arrival, to take a helicopter directly to the Terrorism Control Bureau.

Only that place could give him a sense of safety.

As for now.

The President looked at the Fish Lady, who was facing the glass door with no idea what to do, and his tense nerves slowly relaxed.

This mutant’s abilities were not strong enough, as a single glass door could trap her.

The President thought this way.

Given this, before the octopus mutant could break through the glass door, he didn’t need to worry about his own safety.

If he left the office recklessly, it would be dangerous; better to wait here for the Security Group.

As for whether this octopus mutant was acting, pretending not to be able to open the glass door...

This is a mutant; mutants don’t have such cunning minds.

Just three minutes passed, and his Security Captain came in with a group of security personnel.

”President, I’ve arrived,” the Security Captain said reverently, looking at the powerful man before him.

”Very prompt, I will reward you at the end of the month,” the President said, looking at the familiar face of the Security Captain, somewhat relieved.

With the protection of a security team, he felt even less worried.

Indeed, this building adopted a strict identity verification system: facial recognition, iris scan, character card—triple identity verification that no outsider could bypass.

”A mutant suddenly appeared here; now escort me upstairs, I need to leave temporarily,” the President said calmly, facing the mutant in the dining room with a demeanor unaltered by imminent peril.

”This is it!” the Security Captain saw the formidable octopus mutant, his face drastically changed, but realizing the mutant was confined to the dining room, he too breathed a sigh of relief, then quietly moved forward, shielding the President, ”Let’s go, President, follow me.”
