The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 448 - 252 Black Kler’s Backup Plan
Chapter 448: Chapter 252 Black Kler’s Backup PlanThe noonday sun shone into the Magic House and Jiang Shu, left alone in the room, finally stopped pacing and sat down in his lounge chair.

It had been only seven days since his trip to the Fifth District, but it felt as long as several months.

Indeed, a lot had happened in those short seven days.

He pressed on his temples, feeling utterly exhausted in both body and mind, despite having rested for a few days already.

Although he didn’t face any dangers in the Fifth District, the psychological battle with Tang was indeed draining.

Without the extraordinary ability of the ”Deception” Entry, he couldn’t have been sure he would always have the upper hand.

Speaking strategically, the confrontation between Jiang Shu and Tang was basically a race to see who would discover the other first, and Jiang Shu was lucky—Tang’s forces were vast, so while they were rich in resources, they were also cumbersome, presenting too many targets.

And then there was Ding...

Jiang Shu’s gaze wandered to the four Tablet Spirits playing cards in a corner, especially the one with ”Ding” on its forehead, and he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of admiration.

Little Ding, the national jungle player, each time going into the enemy’s territory and coincidentally catching isolated Tang forces, could certainly be said to have exceptional talent.

Jiang Shu even suspected it had somehow gained an Entry that increased luck, but unfortunately, it had not.

One could only guess that perhaps even the heavens didn’t wish to see Tang Chenggong sever the Fifth District from the rest.

Jiang Shu lay back in the chair, relaxing completely, then lazily squinted his eyes, refusing to dwell on these troubling matters.

At least, the issues were mostly resolved, and he could slowly implement his own plans.

Although it would be a slow and subtle process, there would be progress.

Of course, other tactics also needed to be continuously employed.

”Ding-ding-ding-dong—” The wristwatch chimed, vibrating intensely, and Jiang Shu opened his eyes, looking at the Simulated Light Screen that unfolded before his gaze.

It was a video call from Wolf.

Jiang Shu turned his head to scan his surroundings once—everything in the Magic House was normal—and he answered the call.

”Jiang Shu, you’ve agreed to do the show, right?” Police Chief Wolf got straight to the point.

”Yeah, what about it?” Jiang Shu nodded; he was indeed interested in the program.

For short-term purposes, he needed to use this opportunity to explain his magic.

Well, everyone’s seen it, haven’t they? I, Jiang Shu, truly don’t know any magic, so stop spreading rumors.

After all, he was genuinely concerned someone might become fixated on his Resurrection ability, which would invite another round of turmoil.

Furthermore, he started noticing a problem—the magical effects of the performances at the theater had become so fantastical that they’d begun to take on a form of ”divine status.”

Simply put, it felt as though an invisible hand was pushing him to perform increasingly outlandish and attention-grabbing tricks. After all, the audience pays to see something spectacular; if one day he controlled lightning with his magic and the next day he was playing coin guessing games with the audience...

Can you imagine the complaints?

This pressure also went against his wishes; he didn’t like it that way. He just wanted to perform magic he enjoyed and obtain the Derivative Entries he needed.

And this magical show would be quite interesting; Jiang Shu could perform some smaller, more down-to-earth tricks while fearlessly acquiring the Entries he needed, also helping to enhance the magical atmosphere of Lonely City.

The atmosphere he anticipated for his magic audience was certainly not the current one, blindly worshipping him like a fan circle.

Another aim was to train Su Xiaoou.

The relaxed atmosphere of the magic show was perfect for cultivating new magicians.

As a Magic Assistant, Su Xiaoou was not yet qualified, nor was the Photographer, Lu Yi.

There were quite a few individuals to mentor, and the show could largely form the nascent structure of the Magic Troupe.

Moreover, Jiang Shu was waiting for Su Xiaoou to awaken her Character Card to see if she could acquire the ”Deception” Entry, something he had been considering since the moment he met her.

The simplest way to seek the truth was through experimentation, using it to identify similarities and differences, and thus, to speculate.

Although waiting for Su Xiaoou to grow up and get her Character Card would take some time, it wouldn’t overly affect Jiang Shu himself.

Often, some casual actions left behind could play a key role.

”That’s good.” Wolf breathed a sigh of relief; this was the task given to him by his superior, Police Chief Charles.

Who knows why such a damned task came about, but as Charles’ right-hand man, Wolf naturally couldn’t refuse it.

Fortunately, Jiang Shu was sensible and spared him the trouble of having to persuade him earnestly.

”But don’t you think it’s quite interesting?” Jiang Shu smiled too, his smile carrying a bit of mischief as he teased, ”Can you explain why there’s a task like anti-superstition in your police department?”

”How should I know?” Wolf shrugged in response, catching Jiang Shu’s insinuation but not deeming it necessary to praise Jiang Shu, ”Besides, this program doesn’t have much to do with our department. The television station thought I could persuade you better, so here I am.”

”There’s no need, Mei and I have already discussed it. I leave these kinds of things to Mei to handle,” replied Jiang Shu. After becoming familiar with Mei, the manager of the Black Currant Theater, he preferred not to bother with these trivial matters. After all, he was now a shareholder of Black Currant, much of which depended on him.
