The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 415: Chapter 239 I will make you the God of the new world!_2And this quite despicable magic trick allowed Jiang Shu to successfully realize three things.

First, people’s memories are indeed very malleable, they often remember what they are willing to believe, and this is the only thing that can be considered a principle in this coin-guessing game.

Second, don’t play this with someone who is too slow to react, because they often stare blankly for a while, then slowly repeat, ”Ah, you’re lying, oh, no.”

In such cases, the ingenuity of the trick completely disappears.

Therefore, people like Red Clo, who react rather quickly, are more likely to fall for it, combined with his inherent awe towards the marvel of Jiang Shu’s magic...

Under this inexplicable dumbing-down spell, their intelligence actually becomes a burden, making it even harder for them to catch on in a short time.

Third, never agree to a rematch when someone pesters you for one.

Because at the time they make the request, they are likely already doubting their memory, and a second round is essentially for verification, so don’t doubt it, they will definitely uncover the mystery this time.

This is also drawn from Jiang Shu’s own experiences; he was exposed playing the game a third time with the same person.

In short, you might get away with it once or twice, but the more you play, the more likely it is that people will start noticing something fishy.

And now, like this, bringing the game to an end in the fourth round is the best outcome.

”You’ve lost,” Jiang Shu decided to be diplomatic, his intent clear, you can keep your promise and release the hostages now.

That was his plan, but he was still secretly prepared with the black card, ready to strike at Red Clo the moment he let his guard down.

Just in time, Yi also chimed in with an advice, ”Call it quits, youngster! The place is swarming with police!”

Jiang Shu: ”...”

Only a dead Clo is a good Clo, whether red or black.

That was one of Jiang Shu’s basic principles.

This principle was like facing the Joker in Gotham; while many people might blindly or rationally admire and appreciate the Joker’s style, if they had to face someone like the Joker in real life...

Certainly, no one would wish for it.

It’s a bit like the idiom ”loving the dragon in concept but not in reality.”

Jiang Shu simply couldn’t trust someone who lacked both legal and moral principles.

”Yeah, I’ve lost,” Clo conceded gracefully, shaking what seemed to be a button that had appeared in his hand out of nowhere, ”So I’ll hand this over to you, it’s the button to detonate the bomb.”

But then, Red Clo suddenly let out a sinister laugh and tossed the button while dashing towards a window five meters away.

”Make sure you catch it, I’m not responsible if it falls and explodes,” his crazy laugh echoed in the hall.

Almost simultaneously with Red Clo’s move, Jiang Shu took out his own black card and started to charge in the same direction, but after a step, he suddenly stopped, his card flicking lightly beneath the spinning button in the air.

It was only a slight touch, but that was enough to easily alter the button’s downward trajectory, making it rise and fly back up into the air.

Thus, Jiang Shu simply took a few strides forward and caught the button firmly, while Red Clo successfully smashed through the window and disappeared within the hall.

Jiang Shu did not pursue.

He was fully capable of doing both ”getting the button” and ”stopping Red Clo” at once, and that had been his initial plan.

However, after the Foreknowledge Technique activated, he saw a few minutes into the future, and that was why he abandoned the idea of intercepting.

According to what he saw using the Foreknowledge Technique, Jiang Shu would see Red Clo again in a few minutes, and Red Clo had not actually left the building, he had just performed a diversion.

What fell was a fake body in a wing suit, the real Red Clo was actually one floor below.

Just like the tricks often used by Kaito Kid.

Nevertheless, Jiang Shu still doubted the police department’s capabilities; they had taken no reasonable action in response to the kidnapping from the time he had stealthily entered the building, and now they were letting Red Clo get away so easily...

It was hard not to suspect that the police were under the influence of Tang’s memory manipulation.

So he might well be a target for the police to capture right now.

He needed to leave quickly.

”Please, no one panic, the police will soon come to your rescue, until we meet again,” Jiang Shu said to the hostages in the hall, waving goodbye, then he set down the bomb-detonating button and quickly left the hall through the main entrance.

Leaving behind the hostages who were tied up, with gags in their mouths, looking at each other in bewilderment, unclear about the current situation.

It looked like they had been rescued?

The magician Jiang Shu, proud of his craft, had defeated the demon of Lonely City in his own domain of magic, the demon fled, and the hero gave chase.

They as hostages, were no longer part of the equation, it was an all-around joyous event.

At this point, the hostages finally relaxed completely, with many letting out slight sobs from the moments of panic that had just passed, as if only now, in the certainty of safety, were they free to make noise.

Meanwhile, the image of the magician in a suit soared in their hearts.
